  1. Was going to get the 780, but went with the 350. Going to add a set of speakers to the 350 to match the 20 watts of the 780. I also made a wall rack to mount the 350 on and all my other goodies. Posts some photos of it if you can. I haven't figured that out here yet.
  2. Here's a link to a photo of a 780 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/productDetail/productDetail.jsp?entSkuId=H93995000000000&src=3WWRWXGP&kpid=mfH93995&gclid=COnJwfrx_7UCFag7MgodOyoAFw Here's a link to a photo of an 850 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/keyboards-midi/casio-privia-px-850-88-weighted-key-digital-piano The 850 has the opening top, and no screen on the front. I don't believe either has the same level of cabinetry that an AP-620 has. Here's a link to it's photo. It is more like the 350/780 than an 850. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/keyboards-midi/casio-ap-620-celviano-digital-piano-with-matching-bench It all depends on what you want to have in your living room. I wasn't that impressed with the CS-67 case that is used with the PX-350, so I went with my wall rack. I will be adding some high end studio monitors I have to make up for any quality issues with the 350. With them I should be able to blow the wallpaper off the wall on the other side of the room.
  3. The 780 is more a 350 with a nice cabinet, than to compare it to the 850. The 780 has the keyboard cover like the 850, but not the "opening top" to expose the speakers like the 850. The 780 is more of a "living room" piano than the 350 is. I was going to get the 780, but went with the 350 when I found out the "thumb drive" USB port is under the keyboard, and not on top like the 350. I've made a wall rack to hold my 350, plus lots of other goodies. Will see if I can post a photo here.
  4. I was reading posts "online" about this, and the answer seemed to be the quality/type of felt Casio uses for the key rebound damper. As a side note: I like to find out as much information I can about any big $ items I purchace, so I looked up the address/phone number for the service center in my area. I gave them a call to find out if they had been getting any 350's in for service. The "owner" said that he didn't know, as he had "service people" in back to do that work, but he said that he had just gotten a Service Update Memo from Casio regarding the 350. He read it for me. "....if you have any PX-350's come in, call Francis first". It didn't say anything else and I didn't ask who Francis was, but if a 350 came in, Francis was called first. ????? Wonder if there is a serial number range that Casio is looking for, to see if maybe it would be better to just send out a new one instead of fixing the old one. Who knows.
  5. I got them at a electronics store that no longer exits. I used them in a Peavy Aux phatom power box with an old Sony video camera. I was picking up all kinds of noise before I added the little transformers. They were 1/2" cubes, with three taps. I wired them into the circuit board ahead of the in/out jacks. Cured the problem for me. Here's a great link to the answer. http://www.jensen-transformers.com/apps_wp.html Especially articals# AN002 and AN003
  6. Interesting that a "gig piano" would not have balanced in's and out's. I added some tiny balancing transformers to some equipment I had. Cost about $1 each. That would be $4 per unit. How big are the screws that hold the PX-350 to the CS-67? Look like they are 3mm x 12mm.
  7. Are the 1/4" in/out's set up for TRS "balanced" plugs and cables?????????? I have a box full of "balanced" patch cords to use with the PX-350, but is the DP setup for/has balanced in's/out's? Can't find any info at Casio or on the web. Mike?
  8. Thanks Mike for the number change. I'm more of a 350 kind of guy. The 350 will let me build a "wall rack" to support all my aux toys.
  9. Thank you for the info. May just go with the 350. I have a studio full of mixers, speakers, and amps. Build my own workstation cabinet. Is it possible to have "Admin" change my username ending from 780 to 350????
  10. But where is the USB port (up front/on top) for a thumb drive????????????? Like the one on top of the 350??? Or does the 780 "not have" an easily accessed USB port for a thumb drive? Just the one USB port on the bottom??? This may be a deal breaker for me. I don't want to be routing around under the 780 looking for the USB port to plug in a thumb drive.
  11. Can someone post some better (close ups) photos of the new 780 I have on order? I can't find the USB port on the front, and was told by my "order taker" that it's "under the keyboard". But where?? Be nice to have a photo of the "back side" to see how the foot pedal cables are routed too. In a slot or held with masking tape?
  12. Will there be a "new" Px-780 section, or just added to the 050's?
  13. Have a 780 on order, but I wish you would add a Pianica/Melodica/Melodian to the list of samples contained in the "real and not GM" list. Don't need 15 piano settings, when you have "the" killer GP. Casio being a Japaneese company, in a country with tens of thousands of children who are learning, or have learned on a Pianica, you would think it would be second nature. It would be to the companys "bottom line" to add this sample so the instructor can play the keyboard and talk at the same time. How many millions of childred in China play an Angle Melodian?? I have one of their L-37's and love it. I'm not a Augustus Pablo, but I play along with his CD's. How about a sample set using the Suzuki Pro37 v2 ,or the Hammond HP44 for the samples??? I could have some real fun then.
