  1. Chord recognition methods on this Casio are VERY basic, especially in fingered mode. Have a look at Korg or Roland chord recognition and you'll see a truly pro way of doing things!
  2. Ahhh, good point Alen - I didn't pick that up. Sorry to th OP
  3. Download and install MIDI-OX - its free! And simply press any button or control and it will show in in the display (of MIDI-Ox) if messages are being sent!
  4. Okay after testing with sending data (or trying to) that the 560 generates with a push of a registration button, and the "deafening silence" from Casio on the subject, despite many requests, I have come to the conclusion that it is indeed NOT possible to select a registration via midi. I am happy to be proved wrong by CASIO, but I'd be preapred to bet that nothing will be forthcoming from them! Just like CASIO did not add a continuous controller jack option to the PX5 (as they probably thought no-one would want it!!) the company have not included this vital and very important operation (selection of registrations via MIDI) in the OS or MIDI specification for the 560. This is DESPITE it clearly stating in the MIDI spec sheet that SYSEX will be recevied by the 560. And looking at data generated, it would seem that the 560 does indeed use SYSEX data within itself however this is not available at the IN port of either USB MIDI or standard MIDI. I think that as they have not included the Registration banks in the MIDI data that can be selected using MSB/LSB Program change or any other method, (refer the addendum) Casio had no intention or thought of it ever being required. Therefore I think we should stop beating our heads against the wall and accept it is more a home keyboard than a pro stage model, and ergo without any advanced MIDI operations, and move on from there. The marketing does not go overboard on its ability as a controller so I guess there is the biggest clue as to the 560s "raison d'etre". I do not believe (CASIO) will release any firmware updates to address this as all the focus now will be on the PX 5 successor (and/or other models in CASIOs range). The only updates will be for OS bugs, and afaics on this score, there is not much wrong with the 560. They will want a clear separation of targt market for the 560 and any PX5 replacement.
  5. It wasn't a "how to" question - and yes I was aware of that "rule". The PM came after several attempts in a forum thread (that MM responded to with a question of his own mind you!!) to to get him to respond. TEXT of PM: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mike, I asked recently about whether the PX560 block incoming SYSEX data...You responded by asking what I was trying to do, and despite me trying to push it along I ahve had no further response. Can you please confirm if SYSEX data receviing is blocked somehow on the PX 560? I am trying to find a way to select Registrations via MIDI.. Thanks PS: Sorry for going the PM route, but you must get hundreds of notifications on threads at the forum, so perhaps may have missed replies to the actual thread. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  6. Would seem so Alen...the one she has also includes the wrong format of Bank select numbers (albeit the Controller 0 system is also there). Plus she has the patches in the same mixed up and random order that the addendum has haha. I went to the trouble of putting mine in numerical order. But, had I known there was one already,I wouldn't have spent 4 hours creating one, and just downloaded and modified it haha! Anyway all good. At least there are now a couple to choose from I will be amending mine as it goes along, hopefully with some sysex data if EVER Casio get back to us with the SYSEX documentation or information!! I ahve even tried a PM to Martin - again no response at all. Seems with this 560 Casio were not expecting pro users to be buying it (or it's not marketed at them anyway perhaps?) It's shame really, because with a few firmware/OS tweaks it could be, relatively, quite a powerful stage 'board....BUT that would probably eat into the market for the PX5 replacement which I feel (just a gut feeling) is not very far away. Lucky I only have mine on a six month rental - for this very reason.
  7. One thing though - does your 560 respond to sysex?
  8. I think you have replied to the wrong thread
  9. Sorry you lost me Simone - what are you talking about?
  10. Version 1.0.01

    125 downloads

Hi guys, just completed this INS file for Sonar (Cakewalk) DAW. I have run some tests and it all seems ot run fine at my end. If you notice any errors please let me know and I can fix Hope it helps those using PC's for music creation. Cheers Dennis PS: I did not include drum notes, as one cannot edit the drum kits anyway, so I thought they were supefluous. Also as it SEEMS the 560 cannot receive SYSEX data, I also did not include that. It is basically a stripped down version that will allow patch and drum kit changes from a PC or iOS/Android device (with appropo apps installed).
  11. Just creating an .INS file for the 560....man, Casio have some weird naming and sorting methods for the Addendum Sheet! The way all the 560 tones are sorted are about the oddest I have seen hahaha! It's like the placement was "just choose the next available spot...doesn't matter if it's not the same instrument type haha! Anyhoo...I'm about half way done for those interested and will post to downloads EDIT: Is now available in the downloads secton http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/1117-casio-px-560-sonar-ins-file/
  12. Sorry Simone, I misread your post...I thought you said WANT to know....hahaha! you said WAIT. My bad
  13. afaik, Simone they are all made in the same place. Look on your carton, I bet is says made in China not Italy
  14. Simone, that is the point...Registration CANNOT be selected via MIDI, that we know of - hence this workaround!!
  15. Wow! 15 people have looked and no comments - perhaps MIDI control is not as important as I thought among 560 users. Must be mostly home players btw, I should have also added a hahaha! after the smiley - as I was just kidding aound!
  16. Now for those who think about it a bit more - if you set all four tones to be a Hex tone - then you can actually create split points bu allocating note ranges in the HEX layer editor...each HEX tone of course will recall all its settings as these are IN the tone itself and are not relying on separate "Registration" settings to set them up. Examples: part volume, pan, effects, pseudo split points, patches (up to six in one HEX) the list goes on. In a way this could be MORE powerful than registrations. When it comes to selecting setups via MIDI
  17. Until we can get confirmation that Registrations are either selected via CC message, Sysex message or not at all (if the last VERY disappointing) I have figured a way to achieve a similar result, albeit, it only recalls patches for the four parts (and any settings IN the patch itself - nothing else) If you use the Patch/Bank data from the addendum on a per channel basis you can change all four parts. EG Send: CH 1 MSB 0/2 PATCH 0 CH 2 MSB 0/4 PATCH 2 CH 3 MSB 0/10 PATCH 0 CH 4 MSB 0/15 PATCH 0 This will place ( in order ) Grand Piano Concert : ChoEg Piano : GrPianoDolce : Piano Chime into parts 1,2,3,4. (Note: these are just random patches I chose ) Create this MIDI data on your MIDI sequencer of choice. OR, in my case I can enter this data directly in to my chart reader app on iPad (Unrealbook - but Onsong et al all work pretty much the same) and when the song is loaded this data gets sent to the 560 automatically. As I said it's not exactly loading the full registration, but until we get further MIDI data, it's a start I reckon PS: for those not sure, you can "read" Controller 0 (or CC 00 ) instead of MSB, it is the same thing. PPS: ensure your sequencer is set to use numbering from 0-127 (MIDI spec default) ...some will auto substitute 1-128 as they think it makes it easier haha! Anyhoo if you find patches are not quite lining up, check this.
  18. Question is repeated - or is it a case that this does NOT work! An answer either way would be nice. Mike you asked the question at the top of the thread and have not revisited?? Do you have ANYTHING else to add? Thank you
  19. Mike, do you have an idea of when you can update this question?
  20. Sorry to derail a little bit here, but Mike have you had a chance to look at that Sysex issue as well?
  21. Stick with it Simone - I too had my doubts but i am starting to appreciate it more and more -especially after i got my head away from PX5 mode and into 560 mode. I am sure Casio will address these issues, so have faith
