  1. Yes Choppin, I am in the process of replacing all SS I have used factory basses in with these ones. TBH in some the differences are only subtle, but the way the subtlety has been programmed just makes them sit nicely in a mix, and really nice to play llive. Are they the equivalent to VSTi basses (Sampletank 3, Kontakt - or other bass VST's) or even the Yamaha Motif XS/XF basses? Well no, but they are a serious improvement on what Casio has on offer in the factory sound set. The basic WAV rom samples are pretty ordinary, but DW has taken these and created something nice and useable. PS: hahahaha now if only Dave could work some of his magic on the guitar sounds but they are WAY more complex!
  2. So going by this, you are NOT using the PX5 USB out at all, just the USB of the soundcard, yes? In which case the noise is being generated from your PC/USB interface and not the PX, ne c'est pa?
  3. Well, all I can say is so far, I am loving this bass pack...the difference between these and the stock factory set is really remarkable. Whether using for MIDI based basslines or playing your own (IMO it is the latter where they really shine) this is an inexpensive way to totally boost the quality of your songs going to the audience! And we all know how important great bass and drums are to the finished work. They also, importantly, give you a great base (ha no pun!) to develop further to "personalize" as it were with your own little tweaks. For example, in my case, as I don't use a sustain pedal for basslines, I adjust the release time for those slower tunes where the bass needs to sustain more like a real bass would...that's just one of several tweaks, but the important thing is the nice bass sound is there to begin with. Which is half the job done imo. And no (hahaha) I do not work for Weiser Sound.com , just someone who is really happy with the product!
  4. Yes that is probs the best Dave - fwiw this bass pack is really REALLY good and so far with the splits I am setting up they sit beautifully in the mix. I am using them for those songs where I play the bass and keys, along with a drum backing track, with discrete guitar rhythm tracks. Very nice work Dave (and I strongly recommend other PX5 users to seriously check them out...particularly in a mix!!) When I get them finalised I'll post up some tune demos Cheers Dennis
  5. Why not use the midi in and out from the casio to the midi in out of the soundcard? Your soudncard might be USB, but why add to the noise by adding the casio as well?
  6. yes thats fine, but also make sure the USB cable is still not connected as you will still get USB noise (even if using the midi ports) if you leave it in.
  7. Hey Mike, is there any chance you can nudge Casio one way or the other re DW's new basspack? thread: http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/8135-bass-pack-preview/ I am keen as to get this (buy is fine) to start setting up multiple bass/keys splits. Dave can't do anything until he hears from Casio, so yeah...mebbe a little friendly nudge would be nice hahaha!! Dennis
  8. Brilliant!! Dave....now to the important part...when/where can we buy them
  9. Just wondering what happened to the thread by Hugh OKelly regarding creating a video for phrases and arp loops?
  10. Dave, any idea at this stage of when we can buy this Bass Pack please m8? Dennis
  11. Nice work Dave - any development on the finger bass as yet? Dennis
  12. nice Dave!!! That one would sound nice with a Funk Kit
  13. Yeah TBH, the editor (for all it faults) is a pretty damn useful bit of kit! I do not do any editing on the PX, all done with the editor.
  14. Wow! that is great thanks Dave. I, for one, am happy to pay for such sounds your efforts are appreciated m8 Cheers Dennis PS: any chance of a decent finger bass (probs like a flatwound?? - yeah I know with the sample base it might not be poss...but )
  15. Hey Dave, can I ask if you have had time to look at the basses sounds we were talking about in the other thread? Not hassling just curious what stage it is at. Thanks Dennis
  16. Yeah. I would be using just drum parts as I play left hand basslines. Most of the tunes I want to use this for are just drums/keys/bass. Other backing tracks I use are MP3's I create in my DAW.
  17. Thanks Scott - yes I have been keeping an eye on them..might bear a closer look. Looks like from what Brad posted there is a max of ten songs under this method.
  18. And if the song sequencer is utilised can different songs be loaded quickly and/or from a list of them on a thumb-drive?
  19. Pretty cool Brad - although the drums seemed to be the same beat all the way through. Is it possible with the arpeggiator to create variation drum beats, even if at the expense of another instrument slot (so to speak) ?
  20. Scott, are there tutorial videos (in depth) for the Arpeggiator engine somehwere?
