  1. I own a Pxs1000. I'm using mine as a midi controller with my iPad music apps, but also want to use some of the internal sounds Is it possible to do both? I have USB going out to send midi to my iPad apps. I also have 1/4" cables running from PXs L & R audio outputs into my mixer, then into my headphones. My problem is that the Pxs internal sounds are going only through the Pxs speakers- getting nothing out of my headphones. I cannot turn off the internal speakers. I followed the instructions in the manual - hold down Function pad and press and release C6. I hear a little kerplunk sound but this does not mute the internal speakers. I feel like I'm missing something obvious. Any ideas?

  2. I really only need a single pedal...I have several Yamaha FC-4 pedals, but they are apparently set up for opposite polarity- i.e., sustain is on unless the pedal is pressed. Is there any way within the piano to reverse polarity (i.e. reverse midi on-off signals) so that the pedal operates correctly?

  3. The keybed on the Casio digital pianos seems to be noisier than some other brands, and it gets louder over a period of years. When I sold my PX5 I had been using it for 3 years. By that time the middle section of the keyboard was definitely noiser and than the lower and upper extremes and the keys were looser. Still very playable, but noisy. The Roland A-88 I now own has a very quiet keybed

  4. I realize this is an old topic but thought I would add my 2 cents worth as I was just searching "PX-5 keybed noise". I purchased my Px-5s 3 years ago and have in general been satisfied with it. I have gradually moved away from using onboard sounds and now use the PX exclusively as a midi controller. I've gotten much more serious about playing piano and have been taking jazz piano skype lessons for about 6 months. This has resulted in my becoming  more aware of the sensitivity of the keyboard. The Px-5's velocity response for soft versus forceful strikes is pretty good, but I have become increasingly dissatisfied with how noisy the keybed is. It wasn't any issue when I was playing the PX in a band scenerio but solo, the noise is distracting. If I wear closed-cell headphones it's not a problem, but who wants to wear head phones all the time? It's to the point that I am seriously considering selling the PX and purchasing a good midi controller such as the Roland A-88 or Studio Logic SL88. I've also been looking at the M-Audio Hammer 88.

Any thoughts a bout alternative midi controller keyboards with decent (and quiet) hammer action?

  5. Thanks. Your spreadsheet ideas will be helpful. I've been needing to do something similar. My current bank content is very disorganized. I've downloaded new stage settings and replaced stock ones which I didn't like, without as much attention as I should have to where they landed.

  6. if I'm understanding question 3 correctly, yes you can use set list maker to control setup selections on both keyboards. I do this, but it's a configurationvery specific to using the PX-5 and Kurzweil PC3 together. I'm pretty sure that if the keyboards are connected together via MIDI, you can control both boards within set list maker.

  7. Nice clavs! I use one of the phaser clavs at last night's gig. Perfect for rock and funk. It almost sounds too bright on its own, but when combined with the rest of the band, it cuts through nicely and makes for a good blend.

  8. My 2 cents worth- I recently replaced a pair of Behringer K3000fx keyboard amps with a pair of Electovoice ZXL-12P loudspeakers which I picked up new for $650. 1000 watts each- much more power than I'll ever need. The improvement in sound quality was immediately obvious. Much more portable that the Behringer- each speaker weighs in at 37 lbs, versus 72 for the Behringer.

  9. Cable is fine. Computer recognizes device (casio USB-Midi), says "device is working properly". When I open Digital Editor, I get the "Disconnected" in the title bar of the Data Editor Window. If I click the "refresh" icon, I get a Windows pop-up: "communication error".  I've tried this on two different computers. Same results. I have the Px-5 connected to another keyboard via midi. I've disconnected the midi cable. Tried it both ways- still get the "disconnected message". I'm stumped.

    Any ideas?
