  1. A double line has suddenly appeared on my screen (see left side of photo).  It just started a few days ago.  I have reset to factory defaults.  Have turned off and then back on.  Can't get rid of the line.  Any thoughts on what to do to fix this before I file a warranty claim?  Thanks.

  2. Yes....I did all of those things....I believe.  Thank you for the information on the potentionmeter.  I figured it was something like that.

Am I correct that the expression pedal is suppose to adjust the sound of the Upper 2 instrument?  If not, then what does it control?

I've not use an expression pedal before and I believe I watched Mike adjust the sound level in his video.  Unfortunately, I find the manual to be very sparse in guidance.  Is there a resource that will explain all the nuances of the various sound adjustments available on modern day keyboards?

    Thanks for your help.

  3. So, I go out and purchase the Roland EV-5 pedal.  Carefully follow the directions in the manual on how to select it to be the expression pedal and then going to the controller and following the directions on calibrating the pedal.  I put GrPianoConcert on Upper 1 and StreoString1 on Upper 2.  Then I hit and hold a key, move the pedal up and down and get no change at all to the strings.  I notice there is a knob on the pedal calibrated 0 to 10.  Perhaps I had that set incorrectly.  I move the knob from zero to 5.  Still no change.  I move it to 10.  No change.  So then I start all over and reselect the pedal as expression, set the knob on the pedal at 5, recalibrate the pedal following the manual instructions.  Still no change when playing a note and moving the pedal.  Help!!!  What am I missing here?  Thank you for your help.

  4. After watching Mike Martin's very informative PX-560 video, I started to shop for an expression pedal.  The three listed in the PX-560 manual on page EN-10 (Roland EV-5, Kurzweil CC-1, and Fatar) have really mixed reviews online.  It seems the Yamaha FC7 and the Moog ACCEP003 EP3 are the most favorably rated.  I also see some pedals are high impedance while others are low impedance.  I can't find where the PX-560 manual addresses this requirement.

In your experience, what pedal(s) works best with a digital keyboard.....specifically, the PX-560.

Thanks for helping me sort this out.

  5. Thank you, Brad.  I spent quite a bit of time trying to figure this out and almost got there.  I missed the DSP step since I stopped when all I saw was Reverb Send, Chorus Send, Delay Send.  I have followed your steps and see that the manual saw to go to page EN-34 to edit the DSP parameters.  I missed that step when searching on my own.  My problem is I am unfamiliar with much of the terminology involved.  For example, Portamento, Compressor, Limiter, Enhancer, Early Reflection, Phaser, etc.  I do have much to learn and will be searching for a book on to help my learning.

I do hope Mike will run a series of videos for the 560 like he did for the PX-5S.  That would be really helpful for those of us who are coming from less sophisticated keyboards.  My main keyboard, with the exception of a few months being mystified by the PX-5S, was a PX-330.  All I had to do there was push a button for Grand Piano or E. Piano and I was good to go.  However, I am determined to learn how to take advantage of the features of the 560.

    Thanks again for being there.

  6. Is there a way to edit a piano tone to lock in a EQ Mid or High Gain?  I need to adjust the mid gain by -6 to on piano dolce to reduce some of the brightness.  I cannot seem to figure out how to do this.  Is it possible to adjust it somewhere to make this a permanent adjustment?  Thanks for your help.

  7. Thank you, Brad.  That worked perfectly.  I just spent some more time searching the manual and found the answer on page EN-62.  Can't explain why I couldn't find it last night.  Thanks again for your help.

  8. Rather than start a new topic, I thought I would just put this one here........I loaded three midi files into my 560 just to see how they would work...and they work fine though a couple are really loud.  My problem is these were test midis, not ones I really wanted to keep loaded.  After spending an hour poring through the manual, I cannot seem to find how to delete them.  It appears I only have room for 8 files...that is, unless the menu grows as I add additional tunes.  So, I guess I have two questions:

    1.  How do I delete midis once they are loaded?

    2.  Are there really only 8 locations for loaded midis?

    Thank you for your help.

  9. My PX-560 came today.  I must tell you I am impressed even though I am just scratching the surface of what it can do.  It seems like I have control over almost every conceivable tone and function.  The touch screen makes it so easy to work with.  Thanks to PianoManChuck and his excellent CGP-700, PX-360 and PX-560 videos, I feel almost at home with my 560, though I know I have much yet to learn.

My PX-5S was way beyond my abilities. I was frustrated by my inability to take advantage of most of what it could do.  It is now with a real musician who had it doing things I couldn't even begin to master.  My wife asked me why I couldn't make it sound that way.  I just shrugged my shoulders and hung my head.  Regardless, the new owner has written me to let me know he is quite pleased.

I believe the 560 will give me some of the advance features of the 5S.  Perhaps with time, I will be able to take advantage of some of them and begin to sound like a real musician.  That's my goal.

I look forward to reading your posts and learning from you.  I am grateful for this forum.  Thank you all for being there and being so willing to share.

  10. BradMZ.....thank you for doing this comparison.  It will be helpful to those of us making the decision of which of the three to purchase.  I am pretty sure I will go with the PX-560.  It has way more features than I will likely ever need or use, but who knows, one day I may have an opportunity to be part of a group that will ask me to add something new to the mix.  Thanks again.

  11. My biggest question.....Is there anything the PX-360 can do that the PX-560 cannot do?  I believe the 360 will have everything I would ever need or use.  I am just afraid that I might regret not buying the 560.  The price difference isn't the issue.  My concern is generated from having owned the PX-5S for some time now and only really use a half dozen tones, all but Rhodes are stock Casio tones.  I can't believe I would ever use the synths, arps, organ, clavs etc. other than to just toy around with them at home.

I will likely buy the 560 just to be safe......that is, unless there is something it will not do that the 360 will do.  I just have to wait for the PX-5S to sell.  It is up on Craigslist.  I am guessing it will be gone pretty soon, especially with Christmas coming.

Thanks for your help.  BTW....I have downloaded and read both manuals.  The 560 seems to do everything the 360 does.  Am I missing anything?

    Thanks.

  12. My current cable out connect is a 10' TRS to TRS cable with a TRS to a dual TS "Y" connector on each end of the TRS cable. This seemed to work fine on my PX-350 but I am starting to notice a bit of static noise every now and then.  I am thinking of going with two TS to TS cables, but before I buy them, was wondering what everyone else was using and perhaps getting some recommendations our more advanced members.  I was planning on upgrading to Mogami Gold as well.  Thank you for helping out this newbie.....again  - Edward

  13. A couple of musicians I know have Fender Passport PA systems.  One is an older 200 watt unit; the other is a new 300 watt unit.  After hearing them, I decided I should check them out.  I demoed a StagePas 600 side by side with the Fender Passport 300.  It really surprised me, but the lower wattage Fender sounded better to my ear.....so, that is what I brought home...the Fender Passport 300.

I also have a Roland KC60 40 watt amp that I purchased to use with my Roland FP5.  The PX-5S sounds not terrible running through the Roland, but it is really not so good either.  BUT...when I hooked it up to our Passport 300, the sound just blew me away.  Absolutely beautiful.  WIth the speakers about 3 feet behind me and separated by about seven feet, the sound just wraps around me....it is crystal clear, full, and rich.  Bottom line is that I am very pleased with my Fender Passport 300.

  14. Thank you, Scott.  I renamed my wav file TAKE01 and assigned Knob 4 for Audio Volume and it worked perfectly.  I tried to name the file other than TAKE?? and it can't be found.  So I guess everything has to be TAKE00, TAKE01 ... I have always used my iPad for tracks.  I guess that's how it will remain.  Thanks for your info.

  15. Newbie question:  Is there a way to adjust the volume independently on the fly when playing back a midi file from a flash drive.  I have searched the forum and the manuals and cannot find this addressed anywhere.  I know the main volume knob will do this, but it also changes the keyboard volume.  I am trying to build some backing tracks with band in a box.  I am new to both band in a box and the PX-5S.  Is there a better way of accomplishing backing tracks.  Thanks for your help.

  16. Okay, I'm a newbie, so take this for what it's worth, but so far I find the GrandRhodes2 to be amazing.  I volunteer weekly at our local hospital in the Complimentary Therapies department and much of the music I play is therapeutic in nature.  The GrandRhodes2 is a bit much for the hospital venue, so that is where HerbiesRdPhz comes it.  It is a bit lighter, and very sweet.  But at home, I find the GrandRhodes2 is on much of the time.

For my grand piano sounds, I have become smitten with GrndConzrtD1.  Very full and rich.  I like it a lot.  I also like the Nord2GrndPad and The_Pianist2  in those situations where I want a big bottom end.  But when I am not playing the Rhodes, I find that GrndConzrtD1 is selected.  GrndConsrtD1 and GrandRhodes2 are my favorites two weeks into my journey with the PX-5S.  That's my story.....

Oh, why did I wait so long to buy the PX-5S......?????

  17. I looked at that one real close, the Stagg, and nearly bought it.  I just didn't want a mic stand at my feet.  But, it sure looks like it would be a good one.  Most of my sheets are on my iPad.  I use ForScore app and an AirTurn blue tooth page tuner.  ForScore is really nice because it has half page turns.  Most of you probably don't need the sheets.  I have a difficult time memorizing music and need at least the chords to have any chance to not embarrass myself.

  18. I have just purchase a Joy Factory mag mount to hold my iPad Air.  A bit more expensive than some, but now that I have it I would spend the money again.  It is solid and very stable.

Amazon has the best prices that I was able to find.
