  1. That should not be an issue. What kind of lead are you using (not brand but type)?
  2. There are several great iOS metronomes that I use. But the one I consistently use the most is this one.
  3. Velocity sensitive organs would totally... mess with my head.
  4. My first keyboard was a CZ-3000. I did buy it for its piano sound. I seem to think I had a hard case for it, too. I replaced it with a Korg SG-1D and an Ensoniq EPS-16+, both of which I had for many years. I gave the CZ-3000 to a friend's kid who was learning to play.
  5. Radio Shack also carried a version of the CDP-100 they called the DP-4073 (I have no idea where they got that number). I had one. I got it when they closed them out for $300, I think. After I got my PX-3, I managed to sell the DP-4073 for the same $300 amount!
  6. He based on the paint scheme of his Camaro.
  7. There's one itty bitty caveat I've run into doing this kind of thing. Some Stage Settings don't have MIDI CCs set to some of the controls, usually the knobs. If you start with one of those, you'll have to map the CCs to the knobs. If you follow Scott's advice about creating a blank Stage Setting and use that, you should be fine. I tend to start with an existing Stage Setting so I've gotten caught by this a few times.
  8. Geez, I should have read this ages ago. Even I learned stuff from it.
  9. I would suggest making sure your technique and your positioning is correct. If you are unfamiliar with proper position for keyboard-playing (arm, wrist, shoulder, legs if seated), there is lots of info to be found online. If you don't have experience with piano technique, there is info online about that as well, but you'll probably need a mirror, a video camera, or a teacher to see what you might be doing incorrectly. If all those things turn out to be okay and you still have a problem, it may just be that there's something not right about the PX-5S action for you. Some of the suggestions above may help, but only you can say.
  10. Wow - that's different. Most of the people playing the PX-5S at NAMM had big grins on their faces. Mike must have been paying them big bucks!
  11. "These models have been available in Europe for some time, we're only now getting around to bringing them to America," didn't say Mike Martin, general manager of marketing, Musical Instruments Division. "However, the Americans got the PX-5S well before Europe, so call it even." Would that make you happy?
  12. Remember that NAMM is not a public show. It is meant for music merchants. The primary goal of it is to show new musical instruments and products to dealers and get them to agree to sell your stuff. We're secondary.
  13. That's High-resolution MIDI, and can be turned off. I don't recall exactly where that is, but it's in there and there might be some discussion about how to do it on the forums here that you can find. (It's been a while since I've messed with it and I'm not at my PX-5S right now so I don't remember.)
  14. I am way late to this thread and way late to be posting this particular video. I don't even know if it's a Casio, since I'm not very familiar with their keyboards that do these kinds of things. But my first thought always assumed that it was. http://youtu.be/VFfXqz1h5AY (It's a link because they won't allow embedding. )
  15. There is no problem organizing the stage settings any way you want. It's your keyboard, after all. As far as what you've done, there's also a download on there that does that, bank 0 is acoustic pianos, bank 1 is tine electric pianos, etc.
  16. Yeah, he means 2014. Silly Scott. We already know what they showed at the 2013 show.
  17. Sorry, I haven't played this one myself so I could only go by what I read above. You could replace any of the controls he has with the rotary control. You would just have to decide which one you can do without and replace it.
  18. I sit on a piano bench. I use an artist bench at home, and a foldable bench at gigs.
  19. There is also this one, I think Scott did it. http://sc3900.wix.com/px-5s
  20. According to what he wrote above, it's on K3 (knob 3).
  21. Do you have a MIDI file you would want to hear being played?
