  1. Art The Casio Data Manager software is for transferring files (User Tone files, User Rhythm files, User DSP files, Song files, etc) between a computer and supported WK, CTK, or LK keyboards. The LK-215 can not do this. It is not supported in this manner. The "software" mentioned in the LK-215 manual is referring to computer based DAW or sequencer software (Cakewalk's Music Creator or PG Music's Power Tracks or Band-in-a-Box, for instance) for sending/receiving MIDI song data in realtime to use the keyboard as a "sound module" or to record what you are playing on the keyboard into the computer. The Data Manager software can probably "see" the LK-215, but has nothing useful that it can do with it. Aside from the programs mentioned above, there are also some rather nice DAW (sequencer) programs available on the web for free download. Try a Google or Bing search. Good luck !
  3. Right on, Steve ! It was Mike Martin's YouTube demo of the pattern sequencer that convinced me to go with the WK-7500. I could have saved a few dollars and went with the CTK-7000, but I like to have 76 keys when I start splitting the keyboard. Also, I have several iPad apps that will do pattern sequencing, but doing it on a keyboard is easier for my stubby fingers. I am going to try your idea of a matrix for keeping things organized.
  4. Sorry JK, but you have your labels and definitions turned around. It is the XW-P1 (Performance) that is good for pads, organs, and PCM sounds (as you call them), but it does not sample. It is pretty much a standard synth for all-around standard performance and music production. The XW-G1 has the sampling capability. That is why it costs $100 more than the XW-P1. It is aimed at DJ type sampling, looping, and remixing, so lends itself more toward the production/performance of the more modern genres: club, dance, techno, trance, dub, etc. It would be nice if Casio would offer the features of both in a single 61 key unit for about $1100 and a 76 key version for about $1200. Man ! That would be one unbeatable box ! :D
  5. JK SUCCESS ! ! ! I do not know what you are seeing, but I see your SoundCloud "widget" as a regular URL Address Link - just like any other embedded link. Happyrat1 was "sort of" correct. (Thanks, happyrat1) I could not see where Firefox was blocking anything, but when I came into the forum here through Chrome, both your link and happyrat1's worked fine, so it looks like you and I just have browser problems. In my case, it may just be a Firefox incompatibility problem. I have been noticing that for sometime as Mozilla continues to "improve" Firefox. I've been a Netscape/Mozilla addict for years, so I won't abandon it, but I just need to learn to try IE or Chrome automatically when something doesn't work in Firefox. Anyway, it looks like your SoundCloud connection works fine, but apparently just not quite like you thought.
  6. Bob If you are seeing the DRUM section as your opening screen, then you are in the PATTERN sequencer, not the SONG sequencer. The SONG sequencer opens on a screen for naming your new song. I'm not sure the PATTERN sequencer is where you want to be if you are looking for a linear sequencer. If you do want the PATTERN sequencer, then you do not have to start with the drums. Just press the left arrow button ( < ) once to get to the PERC section or the right arrow button ( > ) one or more times to get to the BASS or other sections. You can always come back to the DRUM section later. The keyboard defaults to the DRUM section, because that is where most folks start. They lay down a drum track in order to nail down their timing, and then go on to a BASS track from there and then on to the other instrument tracks. If you are not going to start with the drums, then I recommend turning on the metronome to help you with your timing. This could save you a lot of quantizing later. You'd be surprised how much your "free play" timing can wander if you don't have something to compare it to. Of course, the metronome will get recorded along with everything else, but as Mike said with the drums, you can always delete that track when you are finished. I am not at the keyboard at the moment, but I think the metronome is PART 8. Good luck and have fun !
  7. JK I clicked on the link you posted and connected to the sound clip, so at least we know the link works, but the player would not start. While I was at the SoundCloud site, I choosed their "Explore Tracks" option and saw all kinds of sound clips, but the player would not start for any of them either. I am wondering if you have to be a SoundCloud subscriber and be logged in to get the players to run. Too bad ! I was hoping that this would work for you. P.S. I just noticed that happyrat1 has a SoundCloud widget embedded in his signature on his post entitled "Download Section ?". When I click on it, I get the same thing as when I clicked on your test link. Try logging in to SoundCloud and then clicking on your test link and see if it works that way.
  8. JK Why don't you try posting a test message with a SoundCloud widget embedded in it using the "LINK" feature from the toolbar. Whether it works, I think, will depend on the widget's address format. I would try it for you, but I am not a SoundCloud subscriber. Good luck !
  9. Hey Mike ! This is great ! I have been a member of the Yahoo Casio forum for several years now, and just recently joined "keyboardforums" for their Casio coverage. I intend to stay with both of them, but am also looking forward to making this new forum one of my daily stops on the web. Best of luck with this !
