  1. Choppin, thanks for your in-depth replies, they are invaluable to me at the minute. I'm at work at the minute and will give that a go later. Is Midi ox straightforward enough to work?
  2. OK.........so back at the keyboards now and I can use both as a VST controller (what I want) but have lost the ability to use the PX5S as a controller for the MOX. When I remove the USB from the MOX/PC the PX5S once again kicks in and controls the MOX. So is that what you're basically saying Chopin? I can't do both?
  3. Hi, thanks for replying. I'm basically wanting to record audio from the PX5S and the MOX. So with the NI Komplete 6 only having one stereo in I'll have to connect one of my small mixers up again. So that's fine. I have also just connected both the PX5S and the MOX to my PC via USB. I can then decide in the midi track in cubase which one I want to control that particular VST - so again, that's fine and I have that all sorted. My only problem is with connecting the PX5S and the MOX to each other via (old style) midi. I have connected the OUT of the PX5S to the IN of the MOX. Initially this was working fine and no problem. But rather randomly I was getting a "midi error" message on the screen of my MOX last night and I couldn't control it from the PX5S anymore. Strange!!
  4. Hi folks, Hoping for a bit of advice for setting up some equipment. I'm not "great" with midi and I'm not sure if I'll need to buy a midi merge unit. Below is what I have and what I'm wanting to do........any advice would be really appreciated. Casio Privia PX5S - stage piano - I want to record audio from this to Cubase AND use it as a controller. Yamaha Mox6 - I want to record audio from this to cubase AND use it as a controller. However, I also want this midi'd up to the PX5S so I can use the keybed of the Casio to control the sounds from the MOX on occasion. Have a NI Komplete 6 soundcard. As I said, any help would be great and if I am missing something that would allow me to do what I want any suggestions appreciated. Cheers
  5. No He means why create individual "threads" on the forum. He wasn't commenting on what's in the thread just the fact that you've already posted similar threads that new material could be added to
  6. Hi, so I presume you're just using audio from PX5S and don't have it connected via midi as well as your 49 key unit. Ideally, I'd like to keep both options open and have the PX5S and a midi controller keyboard connected via midi........but that means getting a midi merge unit and I've no experience of one of those but may well give it a go in the coming weeks.
  7. Thanks so much Brad. I came close to dislocating a wrist tonight lol!!
  8. Apologies if this is mentioned elsewhere on the forum, I had a quick search for "velocity"........ Anyway, I trying to use a VST that has an auto effect between 124-127 velocity...........I'm hitting the PX5S pretty hard and I can't get it!! Is there a quick adjustment on the keyboard to allow me to sort this? Thanks.
  9. I'm impressed very much by the 2.5 update I put in today. The ukelele you mention - is that a separate download?
  10. Hi folks, I just installed the 2.5 alt file............superb!!
  11. Thanks for all the comments. My thinking at the minute is to stick with the MOX6 with the PX5S for gigs. With my plethora of VSTs my sound selection is better than anything a workstation can muster on it's own...........I keep changing my mind though so God knows what I'll say tomorrow!!
  12. I like the keybed of the PX5S very much but while I use a load of VSTs I do like the thought of having the immediacy of a very strong bread and butter sound set to turn to quickly. I have the MOX6 and was contemplating pairing that up in the studio and for gigs - but space is at a premium and if I could get an all in one board it would be best. In no way is any of this a slight on the PX5S. As I said, it has a superb keybed, is lightweight, has a lovely piano, price is great......BUT........the synth side of it doesn't interest me overly and I'd prefer to have a staple set of quality "bread and butter" sounds at hand.
  13. I know this is a weird question.....on a casio forum......when we all/most actually own the PX5S - but do any of you have any hands on knowledge of the MOXF8. In particular how does the keybed and piano compare to the PX5S. Considering we all bought the casio, I'm pretty sure the overwhelming opinion will be one-sided. ps: I own the MOX6 so just wondering about the MOXF8 out of curiousity.
  14. Got my PX5S this afternoon. Setup and connected to my DAW within minutes. Lovely keybed, especially considering the price. Pleased with the piano and elec piano sounds from the outset. Will definitely load up the updated file that Joe kindly linked to tomorrow.
  15. That's great Scott - thanks. The stage settings are intriguing me and I think I'll only get my head around them fully when I get the keyboard. The title says it all though and it will be so handy to have them setup exactly to my liking when I go back out gigging.
  16. Is it quick and easy to revert back to factory settings? I'll be fooling around with some settings etc., and always like the backup of being able to get back to normal asap if something goes wrong!! Looking forward to trying some of the downloads etc., from here also once I get myself familiar with things. The wait on it being delivered now is annoying already!! Like a big kid on Christmas eve
  17. I would mainly use it for my VSTs - eg., sax but also controlled wah as you mentioned. I just don't understand how a hunk of junk like the M-Audio has an expression port but an impressive stage piano/controller like the PX5S has omitted it!!
  18. I've played Nords, owned Roland RD700sx, Trinity V3 pro, Karmas...............but I'm currently making do with an 88 semi weighted M-Audio pile of muck!!!! So to jump back up to a quality keybed such as this will be heaven. I can't wait. Thanks to everyone for helping above.........I'm sure I'll have plenty of other queries in time, although there thankfully seems to be a lot of knowledge resources around.
  19. I'm criticising before I've even got the keyboard BUT I do feel that core functionality should be present in all quality boards, such as this. The omission of the expression pedal is pretty shabby and I don't understand it. I'll use one of the external workaround methods but it is a baffling decision. Despite that annoyance I cannot wait to get my hands on this. I'm hoping I'll have it by Friday and am so looking forward to trying the keybed and just enjoying it.
  20. Is it straightforward enough to go from recording the sounds of the PX5S to using it as a controller? (will be using old fashioned midi). I'll use the lovely piano in the PX5S (and possibly a few other sounds) as audio tracks but will supplement it obviously with some of my faithful VSTs.
  21. I honestly do think a 88 key or 76 key semi-weighted keyboard with a stunning keybed would fly off the shelves. Aftertouch, proper pedal ports (inc., Expression....) and a few tweakable midi controls and Casio would make a fortune. I've been reading and participating on enough forums over the years to know this would be so appealing. Oh obviously lightweight and a small form factor too. But it's all about the keybed............ I've just ordered a PX5S but if the above came on the market at a decent price I would be making the wife another rum and coke to sweet talk her in to my latest purchase lol!!
  22. Thanks again - looks like the transpose "issue" is pretty much a non issue. Not perfect (ie no dedicated keys) but pretty immediate and not a problem. OK so that's one thing sorted......... Now - re: the expression. I've seen people mention the Behringer FCB1010. Without coming across as a complete idiot, how would I go about utilising this in to my PX5S setup?
