Did you clean the key contacts? There might be noise or ghosting on the keyboard matrix causing polyphony problems.

Well this is an ancient post BUT I'll leave an answer for future reference. The problem is likely ground-loop due to improper pin-out implementation of the MIDI ports on the ST. Depending on several factors, including the type of MIDI cable you're using, you might get the noise. Best solution is to make sure you are using midi-spec DIN cables (as opposed to typical DIN cables with all 5 pins wired straight thru) and, if necessary, put a buffer/isolator (MIDI Solutions, Kenton) between the Atari and the rest of your rig.

If anything, it is my fault. I sent @gtarsoncasio a PM asking if he was serious about selling. He simply replied with a link to his Craigslist ad and we conducted the deal from there via CL relay. He never solicited me and we didn't use the forum to conduct our business.

I have an HT700 and I noticed, while listening to some YouTube demos of the MT-600, that the auto-rhythms have different arrangements. I think the individual drum sounds are similar, if not outright the same. This seems like an odd choice for Casio - Perhaps the MT-600's arrangements are on some of the higher-end HT models?

Also, does anyone know if the MT-600 transmits the MIDI data for its auto-rhythms via MIDI out? Few, if any, Casio models seem to do this but some Yamaha models do.

Yeah I thought trying the brute force approach. The the software data editor doesn't allow editing sequencing data, I'll have to change something on the keyboard, import the sequence, then do a byte-level diff and see what changed. Pretty horrible thing to do and I'm sure the data structure is complex.

Yes. I've developed several MIDI applications so I'm not expecting the effort to be too bad.

My primary goal is to be able to quickly configure the step sequencer tracks and store templates for each track. For example, I sequence a lot of external drum machines and synths, and it is nice to be able to quickly assign a track to an external device and have all 8 note numbers mapped from the sliders to the external drum machine's note map.

Does Casio publish the format for the step sequencer files? (I think the extension is zss) I have not been able to locate it and the MIDI spec doesn't detail it either. Perhaps someone could obtain this information?

This spec would be very helpful to create an editor for step sequence data so that it's easier to get setup without menu diving.
