  1. like Joe said, use like the clavinet wah SS and replace the sound with a Wurli electric piano sound like Richard Wright did on the album... prob have to tweak the piano sound.  I think David Gilmour was playing the wah guitar rhythm for much of it when he wasn't soloing. Pls post it on this site if you nailed it... or let us know if you didn't and maybe I can work on it.

  2. i guess that's what I'm asking... is anyone using the XW as a controller in Win 10?  i looked for a midi driver to reinstall for the XW but could not find one... anyone have a link for that???  i can use the XW Data Manager prog and work on patches fine.

EDIT... I loaded the 64bit drivers from the CASIO site, even tho it didn't include the XW in the list, and it is functioning now.

I don't know if the OS upgrade wiped out the old driver or what.  It may have been a brain fart from upgrading the system 3 years back from 32 to 64 bit and never loading the new drivers, since I normally don't use the XW with my desktop computer.

  3. I thought I had set up my XW for use as a midi controller with my DAWs... since upgrading to Windows 10, I get NO input in any DAW software progs (Sonar and Reaper) either as general midi or using USB.  There are two midi devices in device mgr and drivers did not update when i tried that.  Are the MIDIOutSel set to USB and USBOutSel set to KEY for both midi cable use and USB cable use?  Any ideas?

  4. File Name: Drum Mod for 4 keys

I made a drum mod to use in a performance for the lowest 4 keys on the board (C2 to Eb2). I put a kick, tick, cowbell, and clap on them. I have this on my Rock Piano performance since I sometimes use a cowbell and clap, and sometimes do the count-in for a song.

Just so you know, above the 4 keys are a few blank spaces and then the standard set continues, as well as below the C2 key. Just set your keyrangehi and low to the appropriate spots.

Thought I'd share my basic drum beats for using in your step sequencer. These cover MOST rock/pop/country songs. Load them in your User files for the SSEQ. To use in a song, either load them in your Performance under Sequencers...Step Seq, or you can just select the Step Sequencer after you have your performance loaded and scroll to the User files... be sure to set your tempo just before using because that info is not saved. Oh... K=Kick, S=Snare C=Cymbal, R=Rim.

  6. Is there a way to load up my 0-0 piano SS with the 4 lowest keys being a cowbell, a clap, and two other drum kit sounds?  I noticed you can only load drum sets in zone 1.  The sounds I want are spread over the keyboard... Eb1, Ab2...

I tried it in the XW-P1 and I could put sounds in the lowest keys on all zones by playing with the octave, transpose, upper and lower range, but i didn't want just a performance with 4 notes.

I haven't looked at the software yet, but thought I'd ask to get any ideas first.

  7. they used the EMS V3 synth for that song... did u try mixing some sine and square wave layers for that?  I may split the keyboard and have one half setup with the section that sounds like thirds...  i made some Floyd sounds for the XW... there are so many different synths used in those songs it's hard to keep up with.

  8. unfortunately, there are many core sounds that aren't available for the XW... I've just picked the stock tones and layered them, modified the DSP, thrown in a background layer to give it some bite...

there's just no way you'll get the tones that you can get from the filters and source files compared to like the PX-5S.  That's the thing to get IF you want some killer stock keyboard sounds.

  9. What is it you want to do with the wav file?  Do you want to play over it, or use it as the source of a keyboard note? There are keyboards that are designed to use a wav file and play it using the keys and pitch shifting the tone over the keyboard... but not the XW-P1.  The prob with doing this is that pitch shifting a tone stretches it beyond natural intonation when shifted more than a few notes.  The DAW named Reason has a module that allows you to do this thru your keyboard, but it works best by loading tones or samples every few notes to keep the stretching to a minimum.  I have a Korg microSampler keyboard that does that... and there's prob some apps for the iPad that does that also.

if that is not what you want to do.... never mind.

  10. thanks mike, altho the PX version is awsome, i did learn that the reason some dl'd perf's don't work is the fact that the supporting files may not load in the same user preset, so I need to link those up in the performance.

  11. Roland has some hot lead guitar patches... Get it Loud, Searing COSM, Punker, Hurting Guitar... and others on the Lucina Axe that can fool about anyone in a live situation.  I haven't found anything close on the XW or in the downloads.  Anyone want to try to build a great lead guitar on the XW that sounds great doing bendy strings and mod wheel vibrato?  or maybe there's one out there that i missed?

  12. my mind is failing me... if a performance file is uploaded to the download section, does it include everything, including a custom arp and tones/fx saved for that perf?  I thought that it does.

and when i play the song using this performance, i need to switch arps during the song, so I hold down the arp button and scroll to the next arp.  Any better way of doing this?

  13. fyi, the best harmonica that i have used to date is one that i tweaked and uploaded in my perf file  'harp&org' .  it's not great for fast riffs, but for some slower quarter to whole notes, it sounds pretty good to me.  i loaded this on 1/22/15 and i use it for playing Tom Petty's song Mary Jane's Last Dance, cause the split organ sounds good for that song.  There's only a small range (just over an octave) that it sounds realistic.
