  1. Hi ARON- i agree the kurweil EP sounds are great , but they are limited to 8 rhodes' and 6-8 wurlys-- not nearly as much variety as the privia! Still checking out the cat/dog trans-species surgery!! (I want to keep my privia.....
  2. hey ARON-- THANKS for your post. THE EMPATHY IS TRULY APPRECIATED. I did go out and buy another keyboard..a Kurzweil artis se--- the px kills it hands down with the EP sounds and other assorted samples. it is easier use, however, ands does have amuch better piano sample. I probably will keep the casio and return the Kurzweil. 2 other downloads were mentioned... modern grand and 'the way'--- do you know where i can find these? well, i'mgoingback to my cat and see if i can make it sound a little more like a dog (lol)... looking forwatrd to hearing from you.....
  3. Hi Choppin--I will absolutely try your suggestions. I did try to change the resonance, velocity sense, damper resonance etc with the filters and it did nothing--Am i doing something wrong or should changing those parameters effect my piano sound. I truly want to resolve this problem because I've tried other keyboards and with the exception of th piano, the 5x-s kicks ass. For all of you other folks who can't hear what I'm speaking of, a little intelligence (like Mr. Choppin) would be appreciated rather than sarcasm. I know what I hear, and if i can solve the issue, I can, then, totally enjoy the Px--I don't give up easily!!
  4. Hi Pete and Aron--Where did you find "the Way" and "Modern Grand" downloads?? I'd love to try them.....
  5. Hello All-- I'm totally computer illiterate so bear with me please. If one can download samples from another company's keyboard to a USB flashdrive, will it be able to be read and loaded to my casio keyboard or do I have to stay with just the downloads provided by casio?
  6. Hey Aron--Whats the difference between Hex tones and regular tones? Also, shouldn't i hear some difference from my tweaking of regular tones? Lastly, I don't have a clue how to use the editor..... Your input on these questions is very much appreciated!
  7. Hello--I've tried to edit some tones (pianos especially) to see if I can modify the sounds, with no luck. I've gone into edit>filter>and then cutoff, or resonance, or velocity sense or decay time--but I dont hear any difference in the tone, except slightly with cutoff--AM I doinmg something wrong? How else can I alter tones like the experts have done (ie BradMZ or Mike Hamlin). Any advise would be helpful.....I'm loving all the things I can do with my privia. Thanks!
  8. Two quick questions. Once I create a new stage setting, How do I change the name of it in the title? Second question--I've been trying to modify tones but when I go into filter and change the value of the settings for cutoff, attack , velocity sense and decay, none of the changes effect the tone being edited. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks
  9. Thanks--but this type of debugging is way over my head....I'll just play the extra voice on the sk-1 for now....
  10. So you guys are right. My new privia sounds just like the old one....With all of the (heated) responses, I guess it's an auditory preference--that I love the keyboard overall but do not like the sound of the piano section. I will check out what else is out there and see what works best for me. Thanks for all of your input--Stuart, I'll keep you updated.
  11. Hi All--looks like a lot of people are hearing that clanky, bell-like sound on the piano section. I downloaded many of the piano sounds from the website, and could not remove the bell like sound (The PA concert grand comes the closest). Since so many people in this community don't hear the tones Stuart and I are talking about, I ordered a new Px-5s. I'll let you all know if a new one has a different sound.....
  12. Hi again BradMZ--Any ideas on the cut out problem?
  13. Very interesting--thank you so much for all of your input. I really appreciate these forum discussions. The sound of the keyboard always sounds different via a recording vs. in alive room. I've captured this anamoly by listening to the keyboard, then recording it through the speakers it plays through and then listening to the recording. Very different sounds--I know it sounds crazy, but unless you do it to see for yourself its hard to imagine and appreciate. Anyway, thanks again.
  14. Maurix--where do you find the string reso and damper reso? Also what do you add from the hex section to tweak the piano sound? Thanks Glenn
  15. Thanks Brad--So which settings in the common edit area would you suggest for pianos??
  16. Hello- Can someone educate me on the effects the sliders can have on the stage settings. Chorus, reverb, and delay are easy to figure out but when you go to edit and get into the slider functions I'm confused--i.e resonance, cut-off, frequencies (with gain), express, etc. Thanks Glenn
  17. Hi BrazMZ--I did a full factory reset--took me quite a while to reload all of my changes--but much to my chagrin, the cutouts are still happening. Its not on all keys--just some--and usually only happens if I hit a key a bit hard and on the first strike. Any ideas??
  18. Thanks Francis--I tried an experiment and played my privia, the sampled piano on the sk-1, my Rhodes mk-60, and an acoustic piano--recorded them all on a tascam recorder, made a cd and played them back. You can definitely here the difference in the casio--a bit more hollow, and clangy (I dare not say bell like)...I will be searching for answers for this issue and love the feedback of the casio community. I did find an excellent download from the download section--I believe it is the PA concert grand--sounds better than anything else!
