That would be done in the Stage Setting. Edit->Stage Setting->Zone Edit->Mixer Edit->Coarse Tune.

So all audio is coming from the SK1? Just the MIDI cable from the Privia to SK1 and then the audio out of the SK1 to speaker? If so, then do this test, can you play the SK1 sound on the same MIDI channel as you are controlling? If so and it sounds, the Privia is screwing up. If it is silent, then somehow the Privia is turning off the sound (Volume????) via MIDI. Maybe one of the Privia controllers is sending out a volume of zero.

I play bass as well on some gigs, what I do is assign slider 1 to bass, that way I can adjust the volume on the fly. But if she wants a volume pedal to control the level, then yes, pan left and right to split the audio.

Interesting. For me, it reduced the amount of "speed" necessary to sound a note. Since you don't have to press as fast to sound the note, the note sounds more consistently. In addition, with the hammer 0, the touch feels much faster. Yes, it's all perceived.

I have no doubt you can play fast on the 5s. That is awesome. These changes are for people like me that need help from playing those other inferior keyboards. The problem was not so much playing fast, the problem was playing in time. Yeah, I've played on quite a few keyboards too - we don't have to go there. I'm pretty darn old. Sorry, if I brought up editing a keyboard - I'm a programmer so it's in my nature. I know some people don't like to alter anything, but not everyone gets it right - including the original programmers.

The modification to velocity helps for rapid passages. It DOES make a difference. Yes, single key repeat cannot be made faster due to the physical nature of the slower action, BUT the modification to velocity does help. The PX-5S key repeat IS slower than a lot of acoustic pianos I have played. But I mainly play Steinway and Yamaha - not sure of other brands.

This adjustment is for people that play rapid passages and are used to playing keyboards like the S90/Motif/Korg etc... The whole point is that the PX-5S does not play like most keyboards on the market. Now, not all sounds are extreme in dynamic range like the pianos, but most are. The parameter is there to be changed, otherwise, why have it?

Yes, I tried light etc... nothing affected the perceived feel like the velocity setting. Glad it was found!

So.... while hammer response makes a difference in playing, I was going through old threads and this came up: (Tone->Amp->Velocity) It makes a HUGE difference. Decreasing the value from 64 to 45-55 etc... changes the feel of the instrument. Need to work on it, but this is big. Try it.

Because you want a global EQ for matching when you play places. This is similar to the master EQ of the Kronos etc... I would assume that's why the feature is there. Not only that, it's very confusing when there are 2 master effects and one loads with the stage settings and the other doesn't.

Sorry to bring this back up, but I feel the same way right now. Repeated notes are difficult to play and I do agree that it seems that the key travel takes a long time before the sound will start. Then again, I am used to the Yamaha S90ES and P80 which I used for years. I have a Fatar but never really used it much live. I hope I can get used to the PX-5S because I do like it a lot. I'm just playing lousy jazz piano with it! It's obviously me because there's lots of people playing really fast on it. XW and Choppin, did you get used to the action?

Thanks Brad. I kind of gave up and set the stage set filter to OFF for both. At least this way it is always consistent I think. The problem is that I lose a global EQ for the entire board but I guess I don't have to use the DSP for EQ now.

Can I have some help with the Master effects? I have sys settings->general->stage set filter to ON for BOTH effects. AFAIK, this should make it so both effects settings never change for any stage settings loaded. Can someone please verify this? Because my master EQ is changing - not all the time, just sometime - is it when a new stage setting is loaded from USB? In any case it is driving me nuts. I can't rely on the EQ being correct - I have to constantly check.

If none of that works, the brightest piano sound is always in a Roland keyboard. Try any of the Roland stage pianos and you will hear the bright, cutting sound of their pianos. I don't like it, but I have heard it sound good in a band context. I was the second keyboard for Brian Culbertson and he cranked his Roland keyboard along with a lot more highs than I would use. Cut right through the band.

I believe the top 4 knobs on the PX-5S are EQ by default. If necessary, save your entire settings to USB, then load one of the default all files in this forum, go down to the store and tweak the 4 knobs (rightmost is highs I think). Either that or press the Master button, go to EQ and adjust it for more highs and possibly more mids. If you test the EV ZLX12p, then it has a DSP setting, where you can EQ the speaker.

Go to the music store, set yourself in the middle of two EV ZLXP or two QSC KSC8-12 speakers and plug directly into the speakers. You will absolutely love the sound.
