Thanks to you Brad I now know this now -providing the wheel is in the off position
-
Thanks Brad -I don't normally use the Modulation wheel for the type of stuff I play, but it has made a difference

After much experimentation I'm getting closer to understanding the Casio default Tones which have been the cause of my anxiety in my earlier post.
It would appear that many of the default Tones have heavily biased Pitch Mod Depth (Go to Tone Edit -Advanced-LPO -Pitch Mod Depth) Many, for some reason, default to a Pitch Mod Depth of +08 .....which to my ears and taste is too much?..... a set value of 00 gives a more firmer sound for many Tones especially for the default 0001 GrPianoConcert and other acoustic pianos. Perhaps this is something Casio could consider?
Similarly for the Bagpipe Tone (which I know is a difficult tone for arranger engineers to accurately emulate having previously owned Tyros and Korg even my earlier Casio Ckt 7000 Bagpipe Tone could give these manufacturers a run for their money which is also probably the same Tone as in the MZ-X500 which is now editable?)
It's a pity that the default 0001 GrPnConcert can't be changed to my preferred version in the Initial Display from boot-up? Again a suggestion for the next Firmware Update.
I can't vouch for Rick's HEX Tone problems, but I hope something of what I've learnt and tried to explain will be of help.
-
No -I've read about this in the Troubleshooting section of the manual
-
Interesting Rick? Because I've noticed Tone drift on not only HEX Tones, but also unedited Tones and even edited Tones. (ie You edit a Tone to your liking and save it, as a User Tone but when you re-boot the MZ-X500, it appears to have changed?)
The default 0001 GnPianoConcert is particularly bad at sounding different at times. It is only by changing the Effect Algorithm to Compressor and saving it as a User Tone that any tonal consistency can be achieved? (ie I'm currently setting up a song that requires a good Bagpipe tone and again I am having to apply the Compressor and adjust the Tone edit Cut-off to get some consistency between switching on/off?

Since Funky Pop is Respect on the CGP-700, I would guess that's what it is on the MZ-X. But I've never heard the MZ-X version so I could be way off.
Yes 008 Funky Pop on MZ-X500 thanks

One of them is "Just The Way You Are" by Billy Joel. There is another Billy Joel song in there too but I can't remember which one nor can I remember which presets.
Note: I'm basing this on the presets in the PX-560, which are a subset of those in the MZ-X instruments. But I'm not near it right now to check.
Yes 024 BOSSA POP on MZ-X500

Spot -on drb32856 the chords check ! Thanks

The manual says you need a Vol/Exp Pedal with a10k ohm potentiometer (the Yamaha FC7 is 50k ohm Lobbard)
If you can get hold of the Roland Vol/Exp Pedal as supplied for their PK9 Bass Pedals (special order direct from Roland) it not only is 10k ohm but also incorporates side toe switched to enable sustain and registration switching all in one unit. -Neat but you'll have to take off the Din plug and solder 1/4 (6.3mm) jacks to couple it to the MZ-X500

007 Movie Waltz=Lara' theme (Dr Zhivago)
Another one solved !

Thanks BradMZ
As soon as I moved the file into MUSICDAT it loaded ! A great tone reminiscent of those old uprights -Brilliant !.... and as you say a unique sound for the library
Thanks for your help, as always
-
Is it possible to load these .ZLT tones from USB I've tried loading BradMZ s' Old Upright piano but .ZLT file not recognised ?
ie { Media - Load Tone - Hex Layer but file not recognised (No Data) on loading from USB to MZ-X500}
Thanks

Thanks a lot Lobbard -Your absolutely correct (only if I had noticed this in the Tutorial Manual !)
You've reassured me, and restored my confidence, as I have now proved on my MZ-X500 -by selecting Upper 1 -the drawbar subcategory appears under Organ Tones whereas when Upper 2, Lower1 & 2 are selected the drawbar subcategory is greyed out. (Casio here are one step in front of the player)
Your a star !! -Thanks again

Simply selecting tones from either the Tone buttons or through the touch screen and the Drawbar sub-category is greyed out
-
Just taken delivery of my new MZ-X500 but I've noticed that the three Organ Tone sub-categories don't always load? It's always the Drawbar Tones sub-category that don't always show on the screen?
Switching the keyboard on/off temporary cures the problem, but it usually isn't long before the Drawbar Tones go missing again?
I've reloaded the 1.21 firmware but the problem still persists?
Is there a fault with the 1.21 Firmware or have I faulty keyboard
Any ideas?
STYLE (Rhythm) Files
in MZ-X500 / MZ-X300

Anyone know how to extract STYLES from Yamaha Musicsoft PPF/PPI files to load into the MZ-X500? Is there a way to get around using Yamaha Expansion Manager to view these Style files
It would be also be useful to know what Style derivations (*.***) members find compatible with the MZ-X500. -I've used *.sty files without problems
