    thank you, in facts i followed your old post (i remembered it like this: Percussion = 09,   Drums = 10,     Bass =  01,    Chord 1 = 02,   Chord 2 = 03,

                                                                                      Chord 3 = 04,  Chord 4 = 05,  Chord 5 = 06.

    now ill try with this channel 9 = Bass, 10 = Drums, 11 = Percussion and 12 through 16 =)

But which midi editor? i tried with midiplayer 5 i downldd fromm web but not very able to reach some result... in its window i see which channels work, but it does NOT correspond to what z500 catches (i think) Any way, thyou you !

I use Cakewalk Sonar Artist. You can download the instrument definition file I created for Cakewalk on this site. Makes editing SO much easier when the editor "understands" your keyboard configuration. ;-)

ciao, i have used 3 midifiles for trying to transtorm in a ryhtm- in the 1 case it was ok, with the tracks 9 10  1 2 3 4 5 6- in the second the mz500 did not take in any way the drun track and in the 3 case took the drum track but not same of the other accompaniment - - - Solutions??? i put the 3 midifiles here

    1 Have_You_Heard.mid

    2 Sanlorenzo.mid

    3 Are_You_Going_With_Me.mid

The simplest answer is that not all MIDI files are created equal. Sometimes you have to take a file into a MIDI editor and rearrange the  channels so the X500 can more easily recognize the patterns for extraction.  It works best for me when I set channel 9 = Bass, 10 = Drums, 11 = Percussion and 12 through 16 = Accompaniment . See page A1 "Part and MIDI Channel Assignments and Diagram" in the MZ-X500 Tutorial PDF.

Nice MIDIs by the way! ;-)

Pads send phrase data out via either USB MIDI or standard MIDI ports.  Pad setting>part>enter>must have A parts ON.  Whichever A parts you choose is what MIDI channels the pad will send data from.  It's incredibly flexible and a very underrated feature of the MZ-X500.

AHA! Thank you. Keep forgetting about A-B-C ports! :banghead:

At least they make these videos. I guess English users have no reviews or overviews because we rather talk about others that are doing it instead of just making a review.

    What's everyone's excuse?

No excuse here. I do not need a review now, as I already have purchased my MZ-X500 and have all the manuals. When I have a question I find the manuals are pretty good at answering them.

Thanks.  So, it sounds like playing an octave and a 5th will not produce auto accompany in “full range mode.”  Will it in any other mode?

Does the “Chord Example List” (page A-3) pertain to “Full Range Chords” that are recognized?

What does the 5 and 8 mean on page A-4?

In fingered 1, 2, or 3 you can use just two notes, a 5th or an 8th  (octave)

  6. I think the answer is on page A2 of the Appendix ...

Unlike Fingered 1, 2, and 3, Full Range Chord  requires pressing of at least three keys to form a  chord.

Casio could have been clearer and noted that the 'three keys' must be unique to the intended chord (octaves not allowed as an octave does not add differentiation)

    Thanks, Rick.  Very helpful.

    1) Where do I find the "standalone" version of the 1.5 version users guide.  I checked the Casio Support website and it only had up to 1.4

    2) I would like a Excel or Numbers (preferred) spreadsheet of all the Appendix Lists so that I can sort or rearrange them in any order.  Basically sorting the Appendices:  Tone List, Versatile Tone List, Rhythm List, Music Preset List, Arpeggio Type List, Wave List, (Hex Layer & Bass Synth), Wave List, and Pad Bank List.

That's the FIRMWARE 1.5 Users Guide.

You can copy data from the PDF to a spreadsheet.

For the record I was able to import it into iBooks on a 4th gen 64GB iPad running 10.3.3. Mind you, ever since I did the last software update importing a PDF into iBooks takes f..o..r..e..v..e..r.

Thank you Alen! By the way, I downloaded your "The XW-P1 Companion" and have been reading it cover to cover. Excellent work!!! KUDOS!!!

Not sure Randy. I'll get my iPad out of moth balls and see if I can find out what's going on. The file is a plain PDF.

I was able to successfully open the document in iBooks on my iPad 2 running iOS 9.3.5. Your mileage may vary. ;-)

Thanks for your help Rick. I've split your post into another topic so anyone can reply to this if they want to add anything..  I've added a link to this topic in the pinned post.  I've locked that thread so it doesn't turn into a discussion thread, becoming unorganized.

    Thank you Brad!

  11. I got really tired of searching through 5 different manuals when trying to look up something, so I concatenated them into one PDF file. You can search all 5 files at once. ;-)

    Combined Manuals

    Included:

    Web_MZX500_300-ES-1A_EN.pdf  (USERS GUIDE BASICS)

    Web_MZX500_300-E-2A_EN.pdf (USERS GUIDE TUTORIAL)

    Web_MZX500APPEND-140-WL-1A_EN.pdf (APPENDIX)

    MZX_midi_imple_EN.pdf (MIDI IMPLEMENTATION)

Web_MZX500_300-150-E-1A_EN.pdf (FIRMWARE VERSION 1.50 USERS GUIDE)

Note: Casio has used the same page numbers across all their manuals, so for example you will find two EN-22 pages, one in

Web_MZX500_300-ES-1A_EN.pdf and the other in Web_MZX500_300-E-2A_EN.pdf.

How's that Rick? I read about the parable and must be slow.....

The parable has been used to illustrate a range of truths and fallacies; broadly, the parable implies that one's subjective experience can be true, but that such experience is inherently limited by its failure to account for other truths or a totality of truth.

Many people on this forum have shared their beliefs about what is right and wrong with Casio and what direction would be best for the company with regard to the MZ-X500. I would humbly suggest that no one here has the "totality of truth" with regards to Casio's plans and goals and how they may relate to the MZ-X500..
