  1. Hi, Brad. I found what you have said concerning the system track on page EN-90. I was starting with solo 1 and not really knowing the ramifications. Thank you for the clarification and I'll start again with my new knowledge ☺ best wishes Derek
  2. My second issue with the ct-x5000 is the sustain pedal. I have a sustain pedal, made by GEM. It has a "mono" jack which is the same as the pedals which can be seen in CT-X5000 "bundles" which also include a stand and seat. I plug it in to "pedal 1" and the keyboard becomes sustained when played, but without me touching the pedal. Pedal 2 input has no effect, I believe, because this is for an assignable pedal. I have tried all combinations of on/off in the pedal settings section but cannot get the pedal to work as a sustain pedal. The manual recommends that "You can connect a CASIO sustain pedal ("Separately Available Accessories", page EN-3) to the 54 Pedal 1 jack. This would be the mono-style jack as per the bundled pedals. I go to page EN-3 which directs me to http://world.casio.com where I search for "CT-X5000 pedal". Sorry, your search did not return any results. Try different keywords. https://www.casio.co.uk/ > Your search did not match any documents. https://music.casio.co.uk/ctx5000 shows me the SP-3 pedal and the SP20 pedal both of which have mono jacks. However, the manual has a picture of a "stereo" jack required for both pedal 1 and pedal 2 inputs. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. Derek
  3. ... and the results are in ... metronome > on precount > on bpm > 110 blank user rhythm #300 selected "play metronome" 4 beats per bar at 110 The metronome starts the precount of 1 bar - only after you touch the keyboard. (Not mentioned in the manual, methinks.) Metronome continues through the track. So recording works for track 1. Recorded at 110bpm but playback reverts to 120bpm. Add track 2 with same results; precount initiated by keyboard touch, metronome plays along, recording works. Playback reverts to 120. I'm making progress but that's annoying to have to re-set the metronome each time. Derek
  4. Thank you, Brad. That sounds straightforward, and I actually understood it because I recognise the stages. Now I can get the stages in the correct order. I'll try that next time I'm playing. best wishes Derek
  5. I've tried to edit the #300 no data to make it 80bpm and use this with the recording, but this blank user rhythm resets to 120 each time. baffling.
  6. Thanks, Chandler. I'll have a look at that. best wishes Derek
  7. Cool. I'll try that this morning. Thanks very much ! Derek
  8. Thanks for that. I don't touch rhythm start; tone, song bank, choose song, choose track, record, play, swear. best wishes Derek
  9. Hi, Brad. Thanks for the response. Yes, at the moment I am using the midi recorder. The next stage will be to learn how to do the same task with mp3. The last time I tried this the rhythm accompaniment joined in. This I do not want but am stumped as to how to switch it off; sometimes it joins in and sometimes not so I don't know what I'm pressing! I have a separate question concerning the pedal. Should I post separately? Thanks. Derek
  10. I have recently purchased the CT-x5000. It may not be complicated to some but my previous keyboard had 8 tones and 8 buttons, so it's a steep learning curve (farewell 1991 Clavinova). I have read the manual (thoroughly) and can find little information concerning the metronome. In fact, the best information was via Youtube, 20 minutes from the end of a 3 hour review. The issue: I would like to record some accompaniments. I wish to keep in strict time and then I can add second parts (+ more). I set the metronome to 80 and it resets to 120 once I start playing. I have tried the "To sound a pre-count or the metronome" on page EN-95 without success as it also reverts to 120. Summary: 1 How do I record with the metronome? 2 How do I get the machine retain the speed that I set it to? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Derek
  11. Thanks, Brad. I'll look for that. best wishes. Derek
  12. Greetings. Is it possible to hear the downloadable files before downloading? Thanks. Derek
