  1. The answer is: it *is* possible. Sys > MIDI > MIDI Out Select and set to "USB". This routes MIDI received at the 5S's USB port back out to its MIDI out port. So my chain: iPad (Set List Maker) > PX-5S (USB) > Roland XP-80 (MIDI in from 5S MIDI out) is all I need to get both keyboards to respond to program changes from the iPad. I have one minor issue with changing between Patch & Performance mode on the XP-80, but I'll take that up with Arlo.
  2. OK, got the camera connection kit, Set List Maker is working perfectly--and even better--I now see that you've thoughtfully provided all of the Bank and Program change info in the Tone List in the Reference section of the (downloadable) Tutorial Guide. Perfect! I haven't tried sending program changes through the 5S to my Roland as described above yet; still not clear as to whether that's even possible.
  3. Here's where I was going with this. I use two keyboards in my rig: the 5S and a Roland. I want to use Set List Maker to change patches on both keyboards when I select a song from a setlist. So if I connect the iPad directly to the USB port on the 5S, can I then run a MIDI cable out of the 5S and in to the Roland such that the Roland will receive patch changes sent from Set List Maker. IOW, can the 5S pass a MIDI message received at its USB port through to its MIDI out? Or do I need an iOS MIDI interface to accomplish this?
  4. OK, first questions: 1. You mentioned the firmware upgrade. Is that ready to go, and are there instructions somewhere on how to download and apply? 2. What's the status of the Mac editor you mentioned and, if it's ready, where do I get it? 3. I wonder if you would post a few details about how you set up Set List Maker. For example a) I take it that you found a cable that would allow you to connect the iPad directly to the PX-5S? Set List Maker accepts 3 values for sending patch changes on a given channel. How do each of these correspond to the different sections of the PX-5S? IOW, what values in those three Set List Maker fields would allow me to access various banks and stage setups in the 5S? c) If I connect the iPad to the PX-5S via USB, can I connect the 5S's MIDI out to send patch change data through to a second keyboard on an alternate MIDI channel from Set List Maker? Or would I need an interface such as iConnectMIDI to accomplish that? And thanks for your willingness to provide support!
  5. Got mine today; all's well so far. Mike, are you going to set up a separate forum for questions, 'cause I have a few already . . .
  6. Placed my pre-order yesterday! Found answers to my questions 4 & 5 above by reading the manual (answer is "yes" in both cases). The software update you posted about answered question 6. I'd still love answers to 1, 2, and 3 (though I'm pretty sure the app you were using is "Set List Maker" by Arlo). And to get back on topic, after reading the manual, I have two concerns. The first is your choice to use a power adaptor as opposed to a standard power cable. I've never used a keyboard with such an adaptor on live gigs; hopefully the connection is solid and the adaptor won't burn out (like so many I've had die with hard drives). The second is that this is a pretty deep instrument (programming wise) for such a tiny display. I sure hope there's an editor in the works (whether an ios app or something that can be run on a Mac/PC).
  7. Mike, Thanks so much for all of the demo videos and commentary you've provided thus far. I've been on the fence about Privia for a while, but the 5S sealed the deal for me: I'll be replacing my (very heavy) Fantom X as soon as the 5S ships. In the meantime, I have a few questions: 1. I find several "set list" apps available; exactly which one are you using? 2. Basically, any iPad app that can send MIDI bank & program changes (like Lemur or MIDI Touch) should allow me to accomplish the same thing, yes? 3. I definitely need a hard case. You mentioned using a Gator case that fit the 5S well--can you tell me exactly which model that is? 4. Will any acoustic guitar sounds be included (specifically, picked notes as opposed to strums)? 5. Are you planning to include any drum/percussion sounds? 6. Will it be possible to load and playback my own samples (as in WAV files, or some other format)? Thanks again.
