  1. Hi to everybody. I have a strange issue with my xw-p1. I try to play a midi file with rosegarden and jack in linux - i use a SalixOs, a Slackware derivative. I play a midi file to the xw-p1, but channel 10 is not recognized, and play piano instead of drums (standard set). It seems that xw-p1 is not entering General Midi mode. That file plays ok if I use fluidsynth (a soft synthesizer) or if I plug an Edirol SK500, without doing anything except connect rosegarden to those midi synths. Am I mistaking something? Also: I tried to play midi file from inside an sd card (directory musicdata). When the xw-p1 plays the midi file, I cannot do anything other than listen to it; it seems all blocked. Is it possible to play the xw-p1 while playing a midi file from the sd card? Thank you. Have a nice day.
  2. Greetings, I'm using a program called "Midi Commander" on my Android table that works great on my XW-P1. I can change Performance and Tone settings just fine with it via the USB midi port. I'd like to do the same with the PX-560. I've stored many registrations in various banks. Q.) What MIDI signals to I need to send to select a PX-560 registration??? I've scoured the documentation and the appendix shows the program and bank numbers for every TONE, but not for registrations. Once I can do that, I'd like to ultimately send the change signals on channel 2 THRU the XW-P1 to my PX-560.... it looks like this [Tablet w Midi Commander] --> USB --> [XW-P1 on channel 1] --OUT--> 5 pin Midi Cable --IN-->[PX-560 on channel 2] This has been frustrating! I'm sure there must be a way to select registrations!!!! Please say it's so? Anybody know how to do this? Thanks! Robert
  3. I'd like to control the PX-780 from Cubase (which is a computer DAW sequencer similar to Sonar or Cakewalk). That would be much easier if I could find a patchname script file (.txt) or an instrument definitions file (.ins file) for the PX-780. Does anyone know where I can find such a file for the PX-780? (I assume the file for a PX-350 would be similar.) If a patch script file is available, I would be much more likely to buy a PX-780, instead of a Roland, Yamaha, or Korg keyboard. Thanks. For reference, here are some relevant links: http://cubase.rivetedstudios.com/cat_view/34-cubase-files/35-patch-scripts.html http://www.heikoplate.de/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=87&Itemid=74 ftp://ftp.steinberg.net/Download/PC_Stuff/Patchname_Script_Maker/English/ReadMe.txt http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/4862-privia-px-5s-cubase-patch-script/
  4. Hi guys Need some help please! I'm using the Casio WK 7600 and want to know if there's a way to record an entire song using the song sequencer function? At the moment I can only record 4 bars worth of melody but I don't know how to make this longer. All I need to do is record a simple baseline that's repeated throughout the whole song and record a melody over this. I'm wondering whether I need to loop the four bar baseline and then record a melody over this baseline? Just don't know how to do this! Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you 😊
  5. Okay - I'm not really sure if there is a way to do this but here is what's going on: I'm putting together a Reggae duo for small venues. There aren't that many reggae accompaniments to choose from on the 7600. I have already downloaded the extra rhythms from World Casio. So - #1. Is it possible to alter the individual tracks that make up the built in accompaniment tracks (not midi sequences) and what page in the manual would that be on? #2. Is it possible to download a reggae midi file (sequence) and copy only the drum and/or bass tracks and make changes (if I want to) and then turn that into an accompaniment track and what page in manual? or would this be an altered sequence? #3. I can't remember if you can alter an existing "built-in" rhythm or not. Anyway - I'm loving my casio! P.S. Is there a way to do a search on this site that you can put the topic and have it only search the title of a specific keyboard forum? For instance, when I searched midi files on the page I thought was for my keyboard, it seems like it searched all the different casio keyboards. thank you!
  6. Hi I bought a Casio LK-43 and right now I'm working in learning new songs other than the ones included with the keyboard. I'm working mainly with two programs: http://anvilstudio.com http://karakeyoke.com/software/karakeyoke.html First I import a Midi on the first program: Anvil Studio. Then I add the fingering instructions by creating a new track and using the voice #99 (percussion) and sending the midi notes #84 until #88 (one, two, three, four, and five woman voice sounds) Then with the other software, I started it in learning mode and it will wait till I press the right keys. The only question is that I also would like to highlight the fingers on the keyboard's display. The same way as with the included demo songs do. With Anvil Studio you can send Midi events/messages (general midi or custom system specific messages). So my question: Does anybody knows if there are specific Midi messages to highlight the fingers on the keyboard's display? Best regards Josef
  7. hello to all, how can I access external MIDI devices connected to the XW's MIDI ports? There is only ONE(!) port available in any DAW: "CASIO USB-MIDI" which addresses the internal synth engine. The manual states that it is possible to use both ways simultaneously - and all the MIDI settings in the XW only make sense when it is possible to use both ports!!! Example: My Venom provides TWO ports in any DAW 1. "Venom Synth" which addresses the internal synth engine accesed via USB 2. "Venom MIDI" In+Out which addresses the MIDI ports on the back of the synth ...simple... How to use the devices connected to the MIDI ports of the XW with the DAW with only the "CASIO USB-MIDI" present? Thank you in advance for help.
  8. Hi I am having trouble with MIDI into a P1. The P1 is set to Channel 4 yet it is accepting changes (Performance Presets) sent to other Channels (1,2,3 etc) rather than to Channel 4. I originally passed the signal through a px5s and thought that was the issue, but am still having the same issue using a MIDI thru device. Does anyone know of a setting needed to stop the P1 from accepting MIDI intended for other Channels please? I have tried Changing the ID as well and I have gone thorough the P1 changing all the MIDI settings individually and no luck, perhaps there is a combination? I also need to figure out how to differentiate between the Performance Presets and the User Presets. Any help will be appreciated. Cheers, Greg
  9. Galileo organ (on ipad) controller View File This is my Stage setting for PX-5S, designed to control the Galileo organ app. I have mapped it in the following way, so that the PX will control the following things in Galileo: Slider 1: Upper drawbar 16' Slider 2: Upper drawbar 51/3' Slider 3: Upper drawbar 8' Slider 4: Upper drawbar 4' Slider 5: Upper drawbar 22/3' Slider 6: Upper drawbar 2' Knob 1: Upper drawbar 13/5' Knob 2: Upper drawbar 11/3' Knob 3: Upper drawbar 1' Knob 4: Vibrato on/off Pitch bend wheel: Pitch bend Mod wheel: master volume. I have set this for a range from 50 - 100 (I anticipate using it at about 50 but it is early days yet. Be sure to adjust it if necessary to how you want it.) Pedal 1: Rotary fast/slow Pedal; 2: Rotary brake This is my first venture into the realm of midi, and also my first attempt to properly map organ controls. Please let me know if I need to make any changes - especially if I have left out something important. I hope to end up with the definitive Galileo controller at some point......... I also hope it may be of some use to you. Submitter Knuckles Submitted 03/01/2016 Category Miscellaneous
  10. Hello. It's a quick and simple question. I've been trying to configurate my kybd/DAW to use MIDI mappings with no success. I've been running through many websites and user manual but couldn't find the way. My XW-P1 is connected to my interface (Scarlett 18i6) with the in/out MIDI cables (however i tried with USB connection with no success), it does receive MIDI signal and the note keys do work, but I can't configure the assignable knobs/etc. When I try the MIDI mapping in my DAW, I move tke knob and it does receive MIDI data, but doesn't do the mapping at all. I tried with different control surfaces configuration (Casio doesn't appear as a control surface). With some of them, the knobs start moving "something", but i'm still not able to control "what" to move neither "how" to move it. I saw there is a Cakewalk .INS file, but I guess my DAW doesn't support those kind of files. As I said, I also tried connecting the keyboard through USB ports, with no success. Not sure if Windows drivers do affect something at all, but there are no Windows 7 USB drivers for the XW-P1 available on Casio's webpage. Despite of this, I checked my device manager and it's installed as CASIO USB-MIDI. Thanks in advance for the help. Max.
  11. Hi, I have searched over the forums, and the companion, and the midi implementation, and the faq and am still having trouble with this. I am using MIDI cables to connect to my xw-p1 to my computer to use LMMS (Ableton is a bit over budget right now) to use some additional sounds with the synth. The computer is picking up the signal and playing it out of the computer, but i cant seem to get the sound back into the xwp1 to play through the output on the xwp1(It just plays whatever tone is selected on the synth). I think i am missing a major step in this process. Any help would be great. I tried reading through the manuals but i might just be a rookie at understanding the technical language of what is actually happening. Apologies if this has already been explained somewhere and i happened to miss it. Big thanks to anyone who can point me in the right direction here...
  12. I just bought a WK-7600 to try to get back into piano and organ after about 30 years away. (My wife frowned at even that price tag, but it'll do for a start.) I am very PC and USB literate, but have never messed with MIDI. I followed the first time connection instructions in the manual, and the PC installed the CASIO USB-MIDI driver (after taking quite a while to find it in the MS Driver database). EMedia has a device setup at the start, which detected the CASIO MIDI device, but no matter what I did, when I hit a note on the keyboard, the green light saying that it detected the note wouldn't light up. I went through all the usual PC USB driver debugging, even trying multiple cables. I got the light to blink a couple times once, but it still wouldn't work for the lesson, and when I went back to setup, it wouldn't blink anymore. I downloaded the Casio Data Manager, and it links to the keyboard and shows the current settings, so that made me think that the USB port on the keyboard is OK, at least data-wise. Finally, after reading about it here, I downloaded MIDI-OX and ran it. Unless I am missing something there, too, when I set up the CASIO MIDI device as input, I saw no MIDI traffic logged, and saw nothing blinking any of the MIDI ports, even when I changed the MIDI options to turn AccompOut on, or changed the keyboard port to something other than 01. I'm just using the power-on setup on the keyboard, including the default stereo grand piano, although I've tried different instruments, layer, split, etc., to see if any setting would send something, but no luck so far. Is there something else that I need to do to output MIDI, or am I missing something on the PC side? Thanks Ron
  13. Hi everyone, New to the forum and first time posting. I am trying to assign midi channels to control the midi send and receive on specific channels so I can mix external synth sounds with the G1 when using the step sequencer. There is a midi chart which makes it look straight forward but I can not find the settings in the synth. Also I always get midi channel one playing the (the solo synth) no matter what number the basic midi channel is set to. Hoping someone can advise. Many thanks Gabe

    LK-300 TV

I recently started using the LK-300 TV as a midi keyboard for making music. I used the driver found on Casios website. The problem is that whenever I release a note, another note plays. As you can imagine, this makes making music very difficult. Can someone please help me?
  15. Can I use my iPad 3rd gen with my Casio wk 6600 using Apple Camera Connection kit, A-B usb cable?
  16. I have a CTK-7000 that I was able to seamlessly interface via MIDI with Garage Band running on my ancient iPad 1. Use it mostly for recording direct, but recently came up with a very easy way to make it practical to use (along with a tubes and timber Hammond) in a live performance setting. Would like to be able to trigger the Leslie chorale/tremolo in GB's B3 app from the keyboard, but no luck so far. This can be done with my mini-Korg 25 key controller with the press of a button, but can't seem to make it happen with the larger 7000. Any suggestions? And yes, am running through Channel 1.
  17. Hey everyone, I have recently purchased a Casio MG-510 1987 guitar controller via eBay and a Casio WK-3500 sequencer/keyboard via Guitar Center. While I can hear the notes and see the notes being played on the display of my WK-3500, when I play the guitar controller (MG-510). And when I play keys on the WK-3500, I can hear the notes through any VST within Cubase. However, when I play the guitar controller, the midi information is not being transferred all the way to the VST within Cubase. Does the Casio WK-3500 have a "midi thru" setting? If so, then please give me a step by step instructions to do so. Thanks in advance
  18. I am searching for a hybrid midi-controller and a digital piano device. Casio PX-5S seems perfect for this task, but I am wondering does it send midi cc when you toggle sliders and knobs? And is it possible in any way to control transport in DAW or it's better to have another device for that? Thanks.
  19. Hi all, This is my first post here and I'm sorry if it's not in the right place! I've just had some trouble with my new Casio digital piano that I need help fixing. I purchased a Privia PX350 recently and enjoyed using it as a standalone instrument, but lately I've been trying to use it as a MIDI input device and I've encountered some bugs that make it unuseable for this purpose. The DAW I've been using is FL Studio 11, but since I've used other keyboards for this purpose before without issue it seems the Casio unfortunately is the source of the problem. I just can't pin down exactly what's causing it. For starters, some keys on the keyboard will randomly start and stop playback in FL when pressed. It happens very frequently - maybe every 3 or 4 keystrokes - and this alone makes it unplayable. I know the keyboard is the source of the problem because playback is steady when I'm not touching it. Furthermore, when two or more notes are pressed simultaneously, at least one of them will continue to be held down indefinitely even after I've let go. I've found few people with similar issues and the only solid suggestion I found for a fix was to turn off local control in the keyboard's function menu, but it did nothing for me. I've installed the CASIO ccusbmid driver from the Casio website, but it also hasn't made a difference. Another suggestion I heard was that perhaps the pedal is causing the stuck notes, but I've tried with the pedal unplugged and the same issues occur. I'm using the same MIDI->USB cable that I used with my previous keyboards, and I swapped them in again to make sure the cable was working. No issues with the old keyboards. If anyone has any idea what's going on, I'd be thrilled to hear it. I can't wait to use this thing to make some music but it's just not happening right now >: EDIT: I tried uninstalling the Casio driver and going back to the generic USB MIDI2.0 driver that windows installs when I plug in the piano, and this fixed the constant starting and stopping problem I was having, but not the stuck notes. After further testing it looks like exactly what's happening is that when multiple notes are pressed simultaneously, after releasing the chord, rather than stopping the bottom notes the keyboard triggers them again. I've tested this in Finale as well and verified that it's doing the same thing there as it is in FL.
  20. I want to control more than one instrument with the XW's sequencer. What kind of midi interface do I need? Is the M-audio midisport 4x4/2x2 good enough? I want to connect everything with standard MIDI cables.
  21. Hats off to those of you who put a thousand bucks or more into things Casio. At a warehouse store I made an impulse purchase of a more modest machine, the Casio 230R digital piano. After a few weeks of playing through my books of sheet music, I got the idea that it could be fun to listen to my ham-fisted playing while driving my car. To that end I bought the basic stripped-down version of Magix Music Studio software for ~ $40. It allows recording of tracks, mixing them, and mastering to a CD. I found that my HP printer cable had the correct ends to connect the back of the Casio to a USB port on my laptop computer on which I had installed Magix. I'll say what I expected to happen through this cable, and then what actually happened. I had read that a MIDI cable causes a keyboard to act as a switching device. So I figured the voice (aka "tone") that I set the Casio to would not matter. Instead of hearing reed organ, for instance, coming out of the Casio speakers, I would hear the software's virtual piano playing through the computer speakers. So I hooked up the cable and the software confirmed with a small text item that I was connected to a Casio. I noodled around on the Casio keyboard with the software set to record. I heard the usual sound coming from the Casio speakers, and did not notice any sound coming from the computer speakers. When I instructed the laptop to play back what I had recorded, I noticed these things-- i) The waveform shown in the track was low-amplitude compared to some "sound pool" samples off a Magix CD that I had been experimenting with. ii) Consistent with (i), the sound coming out of the computer speakers was quite low, though I had set the Casio volume wheel fairly high. iii) The voice I heard was in fact the Casio voice I had selected through the Casio's numeric keypad. iv) But the music track was not nearly as clean sounding as when it comes out of the Casio speakers. It was more like what you would hear on a telephone. "Dirty" or "distorted" might be adjectives to describe it. v) There was white noise (aka "static") in the track, which was especially noticeable in the silence between notes being played. vi) There was a thunk when I got to the end of the track, where I had used my mouse to hit the software's Stop button. Now item (iii) I consider a good thing, since I would be perfectly happy to mix several tracks of pure Casio voices for my CD tracks and ignore whatever voices the Magix software may contain. The other items... not so good. I read in the Magix instructions PDF that in MIDI mode one should set the electronic keyboard one is playing to "local off." I scoured my Casio 230R for such a switch, and did not see one. As a workaround, I may try to buy a cable that has a quarter-inch stereo plug at one end (since I think that one of the jacks on the back of the Casio puts out stereo sound) and an eighth-inch stereo plug at the other (in hopes that the only eighth-inch jack on my computer can function as stereo audio input in addition to being audio output for headphones). Are there any impedance issues that militate against doing this? My expectation is that having the plug inserted into that jack on the Casio is going to make the Casio speakers cut out, but maybe will allow me to monitor my recording live through the computer speakers. If both sets of speakers are silent with this hookup, I have an 1980s-vintage mixing board that I can probably hook up so as to give me headphone or speaker monitoring of my playing on the Casio while in Record mode in the software. Anybody been there and done that? Am I doing something silly, maybe? Any advice will be appreciated.
  22. Hi all Help for a newbie. Can anyone please give me some advice. I have a new wk7600 and I wish to play midifiles stored on an Sd card through the keyboard. I have worked out how to do this but was wondering is there any way you can mute a particular channel to stop the sound playing while still hearing the rest of the channels instruments? I have many midifiles and the lead voice seems to be on channel 4 so I wish to just mute the channel and play the lead myself. Any help greatly appreciated. Gary
  23. I've got my PX5s midi ed to Logic and in Logic it says GM Device So I call up a STAGE SETTING made up of say a mix of three pianos. The Logic is set up to receive all 16 channels at once but it will not play back a mix of three pianos but GM internal sounds from the PX5s Why? and how can I get it to play my mix of three pianos ?
  24. Hello, I've recently buyed a Privia PX-150, and I am very satisfied with it. I want to connect it to Nuendo 5, but I don't know how to do it. I want only to record music as MIDI files, not so much. Sorry for my english I really appreciate your help
  25. G'day all and thanks for contributing to this plethora of knowledge regarding the Casio Synths. I bought the XW-P1 last year and was completely daunted by the depth and versatility of Casio's contraption, not having any idea on what I was really buying. But I know Casio has been building digital keyboards for years and have heard from many people in the industry that they usually sound better than the rest. My biggest problem is I have no idea how to play it, but i'll persevere... I've been searching the forum for more detail on how to things. A big thanks to Patrick for the huge post on how to upload WAV files via the Casio XW Data Manager. Q.1) I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on how to create a SMF (Standard MIDI File) type 0 / or type 1 (*.mid) that will be compatible for upload to the XW-P1 ? Q.2) If this is possible are you then able to play normally over the MIDI output with all the functionality of the Synth? Q.3) I noticed upon playback of my sample .WAV file - that I was restricted to only using the solo synth tone category? There is no mention on capability during file playback in the manual on E-72 or there after. Could I edit the default synth tone? Thanks again for anyone who may answer these questions, unfortunately i have run out of time to look through http://www.casiomusicforums.com/ for an answer.... If someone knows of a document, thread or video about these things - can you please let us know? CHEERS Thanks again all! Happy Jamming !
