Hey all, I'm new to this forum, but I'm looking for help repairing my Casiotone 403. I accidentally knocked it over and it now no longer powers on. If anyone happens to have any experience with these and could point me in the direction of the possible components which might've failed, I would be eternally grateful.

hiiiiii! i've just acquired a Casiotone 403 for 37 USD (hope i got a good deal on it) but it has an issue with the accompaniment section: there seems to be a constant drone of a few notes, sounds to me like the first preset (piano). everything else seems to function normally though! i opened it up and sprayed contact cleaner on certain areas (no idea what i'm doing) but nothing improved.. anyone happen to know how to fix this? i've provided a video below of what i'm talking about... much appreciated thank you for reading 🤠

Last week I repaired a 1984 Casio MT-400V (the first Casio model I ever had) and sat down over the weekend to play with the analog filter. While messing with the drums, it took me in an unexpected direction, so I just went with it.

Looking for insight on AC adapters for 80s Casio keyboards, specifically AD-5 adapters. I have a Casiotone CT-605 and CT-310. The power ratings on the back panels of each are the following: DC 9V, 9.2W for the CT-605. DC 9V, 8.5W for the CT-310. No explicit rating is given for the input current. The AC adapter for both (and many others) is the Casio AD-5. I'm assuming that the adapters vary in name based on the region they're used. For instance AD-5U (USA), AD-5UL, AD-5J (Japan), AD-5E, AD-5EL, and so on. They all seem to output 9V, 850mA. Am I correct in assuming that the above keyboards require currents of 9.2W/9V = ~1022mA and 8.5W/9 = ~944mA? If so, why do the AD-5 adapters output a lower current than the devices they're supposed to power? What am I missing here? I have a non OEM adapter whose specs for output match the AD-5 adapter (9V, 850mA). Both of the keyboards turn on and seem to function completely fine with it, but I don't want to risk any long term damage, if any is possible. Thanks!

I spent the past few weeks having a blast with the CT-S400 and decided to do a video, especially in the context of it as a Casiotone and how it ranks with the rest of my collection (including the CT-S1). I’ve been really impressed by its capabilities and interface, especially in comparison to much pricier synth gear in my studio. Includes a demo of setting up a performance from scratch. Verdict: the CT-S400 is a winner, incredible value for the money. Almost any “could be better” items I cite fall under advanced topics that are arguably beyond the scope of a Casiotone. The CT-S1 may be Casio’s triumph in design, but the S400 is a surprising powerhouse in its capabilities and out of box experience. I just wish I’d managed to do this video in November; the S400 should have been under many, many Christmas trees. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Look what arrived today! Have had a quick test/ play on it this afternoon. Some great sounds in this board, and the Dance Mode feature is a lot of fun! 😎 I will have to pack it up again shortly as it's supposed to be an Xmas present 😞 Roll on December 25th!
