Hello. I'm trying to see if I can (somewhat) recreate the Crystal Rhodes/EP sound from the JD-800. From what I can gather from the internet, that patch was made with an EP waveform, a pad waveform, and a gamelan waveform. The PX-5S has comparable EP and pad waveforms, what I can't find is something similar to the gamelan sound. All the metallic percussion has "thud" sound and the synths have a guitar "pluck" sound. I need that "tink" sound from the JD's waveform. Does anyone have any ideas to get that sound from the PX-5S? I'm about two to three weeks into this, and am bashing my head against the wall. I'm starting to think I may need to use 2 HexLayers to make it; one for the gamelan sound and the other for the EP-pad layer. Aside from that, I still need to figure out how the filters effected those old waveforms to match that. Any help in the right direction would be appreciated. Thank, y'all.

I modified an S.S. existing by adding a Synt-Choir to emulate the e-piano sound you can hear in Jay Oliver and D. Weckl's "A Symple Prayer". On the third slider you can change the amount of synt-choir to your liking. Any suggestions or improvements are welcome. thanks to the whole community -

New for the PX-560 is this "Dreamy Roadz" Electric Piano. This is a Hex Layer tone so a Hex Layer category tone must be selected in Upper1 before going to the Media menu to load this file. This is a tone with a narrow amplitude dynamic range that is still highly expressive and will fit great in a mix. Make yourself a custom registration with some extra reverb and perhaps layer the SilkSmooth2 tone also found here on the forum.- 1 review

Layered 60's EP View File Took a stock 60's EP and "opened" up the filter and some resonance with slight Attack/Delay tweaks. (A bit brighter sound I think and percussiveness.) Very clean pure sound. The Pad is a totally original Hex Layer tone (Hollow Strings) using all 6 heavily edited layers (new Sine, Synth Voice, Strings x2, White Noise,Pad). Pad has a very slight "swell" built in to add evolving motion. Goal was to create something out of the norm and different but pleasing with certain types of songs. So feel free to use the two tones in whatever you can think of!! The first two sliders control the EP and Pad volumes. Hey gang, just picked up my PX-5s via Ebay. Had some stuck key/broken stuff... had to open her up, remove keybed, and click a couple "hammers" back into place. All good, now. I'm obsessed with electric pianos. I own a Nord Electro 5HP, and man, the Rhodes are where it's AT, in my opinion... the pianos are also quite lovely. But I wanted to get the PX-5s for the variety... the synths, the arpeggiator, 88 keys, all the extra stuff.... So mainly, I'm looking for the absolute MOST REALISTIC Rhodes and Wurlys.... mainly because, in my indie-pop duo, I would like my singer to have access to either my Nord, or the PX-5s, for live... as I will be playing live keys and guitar (and harmony vocals), and she will be doing live keys and vocals. We just want a nice mix of Grand / Rhodes... or like Rhodes / Wurly... or.. Grand / Wurly... whatever is needed to fill out the sound, live (in addition to my laptop playing backing tracks... bass, drumbeats, etc). I have downloaded a ton of patches made by Mike Martin and other members.. which I greatly appreciate. Look forward to adding these to my PX-5s. I also downloaded the "ALL" set, which organizes the stage settings more practically... bank0 - pianos, bank1 - electric pianos, bank2 - wurly... etc. Speaking of Wurlys.... I have checked out all the Wurlys built-in and none of them have the bark I want... not even close. I am looking for the "You're My Best Friend" bark. I really want THAT sound... I got that sound in my Nord just with a little tweaking and amp sim (and a Rhodes, layered under it... not the main Rhodes from the Nord Piano Library, but one from the Sample Library since you can't layer two EPs in the Nords).... anyway, I would love to get this Wurly sound in the PX-5s. Wondering if you guys could chime in and really help me find the BEST sounds.... also, if there's any way to get some nice Uprights added to the PX-5s... I'm not a grand piano fan, so much as an Upright fan. I just love that "fullness" and "room sound" that Uprights have. Thank you for ANY help... great to be here! -Chris

hi, good people! look ,I' m love with vintage keys sound, alright? i guess thats not a problem, can i go on?... ok how good are xwp1 vox continental and rhodes/ep ? can a good soul show them on youtube? please? I own a ctk7000 (good hamonds and ok ep ) perhaps i would buy a xw p1 if them vox and rhodes are good.... Thanks and keep the vibes hight!!!

Then I also was able to spend some time with Larry Dunn and his Rhodes 88 side by side with the PX-5S and made some further adjustments. Slider 6 is the reverb amount. Pushing the Modwheel UP will disable the tremolo. Version 2 added - Modwheel works "normal" and release time tweaked to make it snappier. Tone volume increased. -
Should be interesting to see which EP sound gets the most acclaim. For me, I'd have to say that Dave Weiser's "Ray's Wurly" is probably the most fun to play. Also like: "Bark'n Reed" "Dave Tines" "Herbie's Rd Phz" "Deep Dyno Rhds" "T'Rhodes"
