  1. I need the split function when using my PX-110 connected to MIDI. I don't know how to send the differenct MIDI channels out in different octaves. I'm using microsynth as my MIDI application, and I already understand how to create different tracks with different timbres and assign them to various MIDI channels. I'm surprised I must be the only one needing help with this. Thanks in advance!
  2. As I understand it, the PX-5s USB implementation is "class-compliant," which means that it should work with a Windows 7 laptop without special drivers. What happens if you have another USB MIDI device connected? I have a FocusRite Scarlett 2i4 preamp with a USB connection connected to my Windows 7 dual-core laptop. Originally I also had an M-Audio Oxygen 61 connected, with perfect results. Now, I have the PX-5s connected instead of the Oxygen 61, and it doesn't seem to want to play nice with the FocusRite. Control Panel/Devices and Printers shows the PX-5s as an "unknown device," and its name does not show up in MIDI device listings in the Kontakt player. The only time the PX-5s seems to work properly with the laptop is if it is the only MIDI device plugged into USB. I have gotten around the problem by patching the PX-5s into the FocusRite preamp with MIDI cables, but I'd still like to know why I can't use a USB connection. Surely it's possible to use the PX-5s with a computer having a USB audio interface. Is it conflicting with the onboard MIDI on the FocusRite? Or perhaps it's jealous of the Oxygen 61 (which still occasionally shows up in the plugin MIDI list, even though it's not connected)? I have version 1.10 of the firmware.
  3. Hi, I'm new here. I am thinking of getting a digital piano. I am a beginner and my daughter will hopefully start using it as well. I had been looking at the PX-780. I understand that the 780 has various educational and fun features. But the PX-850 has a few more features of its own. I am wondering if I can do some of the educational stuff on the 850. For example, if I got a couple of midi files to play along to then I could have a similar "accompanied" effect on the 850. If I have read the manual correctly then the tempo of the midi playback could be slowed as needed and it would still give the opportunity to have fun and practice timing. Can the 850 play midi files the same way as the 780? Will the shorter list of voices on the 850 cause problems with playing back the midi accompaniment file? Can I get hold of accompaniment files which will only use instruments supported on the 850? Sorry if the question is daft. Thank you.
  4. I am unable to use my new Casio PX-150 with Finale and was told by Finale that, "We are aware of an issue when using some of Casio's newest models of keyboards to enter notes in Finale on Mac computers. Keyboards such as the PX-350 have implemented a new HD MIDI technology which sends an additional controller message on CC#88. This controller is not compatible with any of our current notation products. Some users report that third-party programs, such as Midipipe by SubtleSoft, can be used in conjunction with Finale to filter controller messages. These third-party programs are currently untested by MakeMusic and we cannot offer support for using them with Finale." Has anyone dealt with this and have a fix?
  5. I've got a little E-mu Xboard. It supports c.c. pedals. I've got my expression pedal connected to it, and I have the xboard midi'd into my PX-5S. On the grand piano, the exp pedal is doing the half damping function splendidly. Pretty cool. But how would I go about setting it to do volume swells on strings? That's what I really want to use it for.
  6. Anybody know how to get the MIDI-In port to trigger the Arpeggiator on the XW-G1? Basically...what i'm trying to do... I've got an Omnichord OM-250 with MIDI- Going into my XWG1. The Omnichord outputs MIDI on channels 1-4. I can figure out how to change sounds of each channel... But cant figure out how to get any of the channels to start the arpeggiator. (channel 3 which outputs chords is the one I want to use) Gone through all settings and menus... But I don't know... I would also like to go from MIDI Out on my JUNO-106 to MIDI in on my XW - trigger ARP then- MIDI out back to JUNO I've been able to use the XW-G1 built in keyboard and arpeggiator and MIDI out only... but not as midi IN and OUt sorry if i've made this kinda confusing
  7. Hi- First post here, thanks for the support. tech support on the phone said goodbye as soon as I said "computer" I have been unable to open files created on my PX130 on my computer. I have tried both the proprietary files, and .mid files with Finale, Garage Band, and Quick Time- all give the same response: This file type is not supported. Please help!!! Thanks.
  8. Hi everyone, I'm trying to learn a Bach choral for the piano using the Learning Mode (3-step lesson) on my keyboard (a Casio LK-215). I found a MIDI that sounds very much like the original piece, but when starting it in Learning Mode (e.g. the "Step 2" button), the left- and right-hand parts are not separated but they are on the same track, such that I cannot rehearse the two hands separately. I played around with the "Navi. Ch" option - usually, setting it from its original value of 4 to a 2 enables MIDIs that are written with LH and RH on two separate staves to also have "separable hands" in Learning Mode. But any values I tried led to the same result, i.e. all notes on a single channel/track. If I open the MIDI in MuseScore, the notes appear to be all over the place, and not separated into RH and LH staves - but on the other hand, so do other MIDIs which *do* have separable LH and RH parts! Also, strangely, some of the keys that light up when I start the piece in Learning Mode are NOT in the piece when you play back the MIDI normally, and don't really make any sense in there (they're in the wrong key). Any suggestions on how to "fix" this MIDI (uploaded here) and make it usable with the Learning Mode would be *very much* appreciated - thank you in advance!
  9. I bought my Casio Privia PX-320 keyboard several years ago and one of the goals was to use it as a controller - but I have been frustrated because of MIDI+USB driver issues related to my Lenovo laptop; and apparently there are issues in using this with my new iPad* - does anyone have suggestions? Thanks much * On Keyboard Forums, someonw wrote: Connecting a Casio keyboard to an iPad requires one of the newer keyboards produced in the last 12 to 18 months or so: ...That is to say, the keyboard must be a Class Compliant or Core MIDI (Apple) compatible device that DOES NOT REQUIRE a device specific Operating System Driver.
  10. So I hinted at this a little while ago, it is a little closer to being real. I'm still going to be vague for a little about it because we're still working with the app developer but this completely changes the XW's Solo Synth in my opinion. The types of sounds you can get in just moments and in real-time is quite remarkable, so this is both a performance and editing tool for the Solo Synth. It also gives the XW-P1 the ability to manipulate the the Solo Synth the way the XW-G1 does and more. It works identically on the XW-G1. More details asap.
  11. I recently purchased a WK-7500 as a birthday present to myself and I'm absolutely loving it. I love the sounds, the effects, the sequencers, and the drawbar organ is a hoot to fool around with too! I do miss the kinds of evocative sounds that can be created with a synthesizer. Therefore I decided to pull out some of my older synthesizers, knowing that I could amplify these keyboards through the WK-7500's speakers. What's terribly frustrating is not being able to connect two keyboards together over MIDI because the WK-7500 has no standard MIDI ports. The WK-7500 could be the hub to drive, sequence and amplify all sorts of MIDI gear but is hampered by this glaring oversight. I understand that a USB port allows MIDI to flow between the WK-7500 and a computer. If I choose to not dedicate a computer or iPad to my setup, I would need an expensive adaptor like an iConnectMidi to connect two keyboards together. I was even considering purchasing an XW-P1, but again the lack of standard MIDI ports makes that a much more difficult purchase to justify. Please don't get me wrong. I really do love the WK-7500 but the addition of standard MIDI ports could have made this keyboard much more expandable and powerful. I don't regret my purchase because even as it is, I know I'll get a lot of enjoyment out of it! Pierre Fontaine pierrefontaine.webs.com
