  1. So I had a bit of an issue applying the firmware update to my brand spanking new XW-P1 and went off to The Googles in search of any information regarding performing a hard reset on the unit. I didn't quite find what I was looking for, but I did find this thread over at Harmony Central: http://acapella.harmony-central.com/archive/index.php/t-2900825.html .. which ended with an end user mentioning that he was having the same problem with his P1 back in May that I'm having now, six or seven months later: the update (which I initiated from my MacBook Pro) hangs in the middle of update mode, and come hell or high water I can't get the thing back into any kind of performance mode. What I saw of the thread ended with Mike advising that he was going to ask the folks at the mothership to take down the P1 updater for the time being. Whether they ever did or not, I don't know. But I'd just like to report that it seems still to be an issue.. and that I still don't know how to perform a hard reset on the P1.. nor am I certain that this would help matters any, at this stage of the game. Yeah, I read the disclaimers and agreed to the terms before I downloaded the updater.. so I have to assume at least some of the liability here. But in my own defense, shouldn't I expect that Casio has a certain responsibility here too—that if they're telling me to update my firmware in order to ostensibly add functionality and fix the odd bug, that the updater itself wouldn't cause any issues such as that which I'm experiencing now and which others have experienced in the past? I mean, shouldn't it just work? As it is, I'm staring at a screen that says Update Mode, has six of the bars to the right of the screen fully loaded and a seventh almost empty, and there it sits, meditating and ignoring me and the rest of the outside world. It's resolutely not making any music. OK, rant over.. so, ahem, do I need to find a Windows box and apply the update from there? Or am I letting myself in for the same thing on that side of the OS wars?
