I just acquired the Casio wk6600 thinking I could easily record tracks. The manual is inadequate and confusing. Can someone walk me through the process of recording 16-bar long "songs" with drums, guitar, bass, piano and horns? I have multiple questions about this but will wait till someone can get me started with the basic recording of multiple tracks using different instruments.

Good evening guys. I am a music producer/beatmaker, born as a guitarist, who learned piano self-taught over the years. I enjoyed playing pianos and e-pianos on my long time Casio - CDP 100, while I used a cheap but effective MIDI controller for general DAW control, pads, drums, etc. Unfortunately, since I left my country and all my stuff in my parents' house, I won't be able to have these two pieces of equipment with me. I was looking for a convenient solution that could give me both a digital piano with good sounds and a midi controller (also because my flat is tiny). After browsing the web and shops in my city, I found the new CT-S400 to be the sweet spot between my budget/quality of sounds/keybed feel and playability. I was happy to see that it could also work efficiently as a MIDI controller. One thing I wasn't able to verify though, was its MIDI/SySex implementation for DAW control and clock, mostly transport controls (play, stop and record from within the DAW). They were quite essential for my workflow, and the lack of it could actually be a dealbreaker. Does any possessor or Casio expert know more about this? During my research I found out that the CT-S500 has something like that only for play/stop commands, but I am not sure if it could be worth, at least for me, to spend +100 € more, to have just part of these function. Thank you for reading this message and I wish you a great night. Pietro

Hi I have a modified version of a preset performance, that I want work on further in my DAW From the performance I have made a (sequence) chain that triggers one phrase from the sequencer control track. Another phrase is triggered with phrase play/stop button. I was able to transfer the chain (with the first phrase)!as a MIDI file to the DAW. But I also need the other phrase as well. When I try to record the said phrase into the DAW, the phrase is rendered/recorded incorrectly in comparison with the original one why is that happening? any help is appreciated, thanks 😊 Jay 🎹

I cannot record all notes on the Phrase Pad using the "774 - Dance 5" tone. Some recorded notes simply remain silent. It's a bug! Won't CASIO fix this? I hope it corrects with an update, as I need to use it in my editions and works.

I have a Casio CT-S195 and I am wondering if there is a way to record songs that you play on the keyboard without any external equipment needed. Just so you can play it back and learn from it. I know it has the ‘my setup’ function but all that does is really save the tone and octave/transpose. Any info would be appreciated cheers.

Hello, does anyone know a good audio interface that is compatible with casio ct-x700? I am looking to buy one, but I am not sure which audio interface will work with my piano. And also, does anyone know if audio interfaces pick up on the piano keys clicking and making noises? I've noticed that electric/digital pianos make clicking noises sometimes when you play, which doesn't really bother me. However, when I record music on the audio interface, I do not want the audio interface to pick up on the clicking, if that makes sense. Thank you, cheers!

Hello, I've been looking at the Px S1000. I like the size, the features, the app support etc, and the ability to have batteries is great as this year i plan to take a piano up a mountain and play a gig. However my issue is with the confusion over recording. I've been playing piano since I was 8, so I have that part down, but production is alien to me and always has been. Every time i play through Midi on Logic, it'll just sound absolutely dire as it's using its own sounds. Then I find the sustain command doesn't always work when pressing the pedal. So after playing for 5 mins or whatever, I play it back and it's got no sustain! (Argh). I can't understand what on Earth Casio are talking about with the recording functions so can people please answer the following for me, because it seems like rocket science and I'm not the most intelligent when it comes to this: 1. Can I record on the Chordera app, the exact same sounds that come from the piano when playing normally? (With just the speakers, and surround effect etc). And then use that to upload online, my lovely sounding completed track? 2. Can I record the piano using the inbuilt recording function, with or without effects, and then transfer it to the computer? 3. How long could I record for? I see this thing about 10,000 notes, which I understand, but most of my pieces are Ludovico Einaudi style with a lot of notes. 4. What do I do with these line out sockets? What do they go in to? :S 5. Is the 3000 much different, or worth buying over the 1000? Thanks guys, Jack.

I have recently purchased the CT-x5000. It may not be complicated to some but my previous keyboard had 8 tones and 8 buttons, so it's a steep learning curve (farewell 1991 Clavinova). I have read the manual (thoroughly) and can find little information concerning the metronome. In fact, the best information was via Youtube, 20 minutes from the end of a 3 hour review. The issue: I would like to record some accompaniments. I wish to keep in strict time and then I can add second parts (+ more). I set the metronome to 80 and it resets to 120 once I start playing. I have tried the "To sound a pre-count or the metronome" on page EN-95 without success as it also reverts to 120. Summary: 1 How do I record with the metronome? 2 How do I get the machine retain the speed that I set it to? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Derek

Hi! I am trying to record a track in a particular song using 2-3 different tones (some with layers, some without layers) that I need to change quickly. I have all the settings saved in one of the registration banks but the problem is that I can't access the Registration banks when "Rec track" = "Solo 1" is selected for that song. When I change the "Rec track" to "System", then I can access the registration banks using the function button but that is not very helpful as I want to use those 2-3 different tones for a particular solo piece on top of the "System" recording track. Is there any way to do this? Thanks in advance!

How do I make a recording of playing a song on the keyboard. I read the manual but can’t figure out how to record without the drums. I press the button to remove the accompaniment but then when I start playing, it adds the last drum kit that was selected. I don’t want anything but the piano. Does it make a difference if I record it on a user song or an individual track? I’m new to this process obviously and wish there were some guidance videos on YouTube or Casio website Thanks

Hi everyone, I hope to try an MZX this week. But till I get one I am messing with recording on my AT5. I am posting this here because I suspect there are commonalities between this and the MZX. But more because I suspect the greatest knowledge on the site is gathered in this forum. So please allow me to make this bridge until I officially have an MZX. i recorded a master (A) track on my At5 today using the arpeggiator (with a piano voice) in the upper keyboard. I discovered during playback that I could switch the voice of the arpeggiator part of the master track at will between piano and organ. This switching took the recording to the next level musically (at least in my own tortured mind). My question is: is there any way I can edit the (A) master track permanently to reflect this switching from piano arpeggiaton to organ arpeggiaton only using the keyboard and no computer? I thought of recording it to the memory card with these changes on the fly. Would that work, and, if so, can I reimport that data to multitrack more instruments? Also, Would something like this be doable on an MZX? although I mentioned this in my last thread, I feel I must suggest again to all who read this to watch Jeff Wayne's incredible 1978 live rock opera of War of the Worlds with Richard Burton narrating. This genius work, in my poor opinion, was made all the greater by the use of six or eight analog synths to create an incredibly retro other worldly effect!! Anyone who loves synthesizers would salivate over this. I kid you not! So please consult my post in the member lounge for more details. I promise not to mention this again in this forum, but I would love some feedback in the member lounge if you care to. Just my way of saying thank you for the gracious advice some of have given to me.

Hi ! After I've made my recording on midi, and when I save (or transfer) it to my pen-drive , it gets saved as ".ZMF" Due to this, I cannot import this recorded midi file into the software I use as it requires a ".MID" and several other types which do not include the ".ZMF" Please provide assistance on how to overcome this issue Thank you :)) FIRST.ZMF

Casio CT X-5000: I'm still a newbie. Hi, all! I have gone through the 157 page PDF Manual. If there is not a short answer could you point me the page or pages that will help me to record a sound which will be replayed when the key I selected is pressed? And when I select PAN by pressing and holding Part/Mixer button how does it work to make the sound go from speaker to speaker?

Hello again, lat time I asked here I got my answer and I am hoping for the same second time I searched whole Privia section and unfortunaltely found no answer, the same with manual. I am often making my music by recording some MIDI stuff, importing it to my DAW program, edit and then put it back to Privia, to choose some tones and dig a bit in tempos and balances. Then I put my USB in and just record it as and .wav file (audio recording) to later use it as a demo for vocals, and here the problem is: Do I have any control upon VOLUME of the audio recording to the USB drive? Since main volume wheel doesn't make any difference. And usually the audio is a bit too low in volume, I have to enhance it digitally in my DAW which is of course costing me some quality. Any help here?

Ok I'm having an issue understanding how to use the Center Cancel function. I have recorded my wave file and I've loaded it on to the flash drive. I inserted the flash drive into the MZ X500. It will play the file. I push Center Cancel and It appears to start playing the file again but I can't hear anything? I go back and hit play again and it just plays it through again however nothing has changed. What steps am I missing to get it to Center Cancel on a selected wave file?? I'm sure there is a simple step i'm missing here but any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Iv'e notice something which seems odd to me actually I don't understand it at all. It considers sampling and the use of the equalizers I've notice the change made realtime if using the low , mid , mid2, high EQ as movement with the phrase sequencer it won't get recorded in the sampler but if you play the sample and phrase sequencer the effect of movement gets played. This make the EQ seems as a global function and can't be routed independently or recorded into the XW sampler. Also the case when used in performance the value's can still be the last one used when switching from performance to performance I'm curious if anyone has some insight if the EQ is at the end of the output of things.

It sound like an alien playing music 2. How do i save my startup settings as i want touch to be disabled on my keyboard when i restart and it keeps enabling it everytime 3. Is there a way to transferring high quality mp3 to my phone or mac from CTK to share with others? Jay

I have a Casio Privia PX160 and I'm trying to record the audio (not MIDI) to my Macbook Pro 13". Unfortunately, I haven't been successful. At first, I tried connecting a simple male-to-male auxiliary cable from the headphone port in the Casio to the dual headphone/mic port in the computer. This kind of worked, but the cable ended up recording BOTH the sound of the piano and the ambient sounds in the room—I hadn't realized that the cable had a tiny built-in mic that was picking up sound! I discovered online that because the Macbook Pro 13" has a dual headphone/mic port, it can be tricky to get the computer to recognize an external audio source. I read that I needed a TRRS (i.e., three-ring) aux cable to get the job done. Sadly, I tested the new cord today and it didn't record any audio at all—not the ambient sounds in the room nor the sounds of the piano—because my Macbook didn't recognize the Casio as an "external mic" like it was supposed to. Any ideas?? The simple aux-to-aux approach really SHOULD work, so I'm reluctant to buy any new equipment (splitters, audio interfaces, etc).

Hi guys Need some help please! I'm using the Casio WK 7600 and want to know if there's a way to record an entire song using the song sequencer function? At the moment I can only record 4 bars worth of melody but I don't know how to make this longer. All I need to do is record a simple baseline that's repeated throughout the whole song and record a melody over this. I'm wondering whether I need to loop the four bar baseline and then record a melody over this baseline? Just don't know how to do this! Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you 😊
