MUST ADD THE MONO PHRASE ON SLOT 103 for this to work! ALSO, MONOPHON ARPEGGIATOR ON SLOT 100 may be needed. This is something I've been playing around with for a while, and I finally think it's good enough to share. I've been trying to duplicate the Physical Modeling technology that Yamaha has in their VL line, particularly with the saxophone. There is one important factor to a good keyboard sax that the PX5S doesn't do, and that's being able to limit the sound to one note at a time (monophonic). I used the arp and phrase to create a pseudo-monophonic response on the keyboard. It's a little tricky to play, as if you hit 2 or more notes everything after the first is ignored. So, you have to play staccato to play fast. I also added a ring modulation for the "growl" effect. It works pretty well on most notes. The most important controls are: - Knob 1 will turn the DSP on or off. The sound activates with the DSP ON, so you'll want to move Knob 1 when you select the sound to turn it off. - Modulation: The modulation has a slight vibrato AND tremolo to give a natural sound of throat vibrato. - Slider 1: Breath pressure (Volume/Cutoff) for sax. I added a breath sound (using Breath ASax....Breath TSax was clashing with the main TSax) that isn't effected by this slider. The EQ knobs (2,3,4) and Sliders 4,5,6 (Chorus, Delay, Reverb) effect both the sax and breath sounds. The DSP, Breath, Resonance, and Attack only affect the sax sound (not the breath). I'll be interested to see what some people think. I'm not sure how practical this sound is for playing live, although I was able to get a decent approximation to the sax on Pink Floyd's "Money". Note: Since I'm using the Phraser, the keys are not velocity sensitive. That's what Slider 1 is for.
