Hello: I share this theme song entitled "Ondas" (waves). I've improved the sound quality. Thanks to the people of this forum. Enjoy it. https://soundcloud.com/gnomo-alegre/mente

Hi everyone, I'm trying to learn a Bach choral for the piano using the Learning Mode (3-step lesson) on my keyboard (a Casio LK-215). I found a MIDI that sounds very much like the original piece, but when starting it in Learning Mode (e.g. the "Step 2" button), the left- and right-hand parts are not separated but they are on the same track, such that I cannot rehearse the two hands separately. I played around with the "Navi. Ch" option - usually, setting it from its original value of 4 to a 2 enables MIDIs that are written with LH and RH on two separate staves to also have "separable hands" in Learning Mode. But any values I tried led to the same result, i.e. all notes on a single channel/track. If I open the MIDI in MuseScore, the notes appear to be all over the place, and not separated into RH and LH staves - but on the other hand, so do other MIDIs which *do* have separable LH and RH parts! Also, strangely, some of the keys that light up when I start the piece in Learning Mode are NOT in the piece when you play back the MIDI normally, and don't really make any sense in there (they're in the wrong key). Any suggestions on how to "fix" this MIDI (uploaded here) and make it usable with the Learning Mode would be *very much* appreciated - thank you in advance!

I just use a CASIO XW-P1 and me. Minimalist, asynchronous, experimental and enjoy. There is nothing more. https://soundcloud.com/gnomo-alegre/superioridad Now the song is shorter.

My first demo with my CASIO XW-P1 and my KORG Electribe EMX-1SD. The song has been recorded in way home: PC, Audacity and me. Nothing more. It is the first time I record something. What a thrill! Thank you all for sharing your knowledge. Thanks a lot. https://soundcloud.com/gnomo-alegre/noche I've used a tone created by me. Hex Layer mode. And playing with the arpeggiator. And the Phrase Seq (created by me). Improvisation: 100%

Hello everybody! I'm glad that I found this forum. I just got my new XW-G1 a few days ago. I'm mostly a guitar player, and I want to learn to use this keyboard -- to compose and perform backing rhythm tracks for my songs. I'm trying to learn to use it, and I found the manual is difficult to follow. I watched a couple of video tutorials (which are helpful) on this synth, and the rest are XW-P1 oriented. For some reason XW-P1 more popular. I wonder why .... I know almost nothing about synths, so I expect some learning curve. For some reason I can't grasp the concept of "zones". Would anybody, please advise me for a better way to learn to use this keyboard. Thank you for your help!

I'm far from mastering my XW-G1, and I'm not a keyboard musician. Just cooked something here and wanted to share with you. All done in step sequencing, with addition of a few notes added during "performance/recording" into two channels of Reaper, with TASCAM US-1641 interface: Hephaestus's little tricks Warning! Very dark

Hi everybody! How do you connect your iPad to XW (XW-G1 in my case) via USB? I'm following the manual, but after recommended steps nothing happens on either end. I have Garage Band app installed on my iPad Retina, to start with, and I just don't know where and what and how. I have sound via audio out to mic, or instrument, or line. Please, if you have a successful experience with this, share it with me. Thank you for your help!

There is already a firmware update planned for the PX-5S which should be out around the time units hit the stores here in the US. Highlights include: - Polyphonic Portamento - Added a second break point for filter and amp key scaling - Momentary/Toggle option for pedals - Additional waveforms added for use in HexLayer patches (6 varieties of Sawtooth, more than 10 varieties of pulse...etc) - Improved EQ - .Wav file playback adjustable volume. - Zone and Layer on/off switch from pedal/knob/slider - Real-time filter response smoother ...and more. I'll have more info in the next week or so.

I've had my XW-P1 for a short time now and have started to create some solo synth sounds. I've made a simple detuned sawtooth patch using two oscillators to recreate a classic "mono-synth" sound. I've increased the attack time on both oscillators to take the edge off, preferring something that ramps up quickly rather than instantly playing at full volume. Occasionally, a note will play with a hard attack when played quickly. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Should the attack time on both oscillators be identical? I've set the attack time on both oscillators using one of the knobs. I also want to try and have a ADSR-controlled filter sweep while the sound is held but wanted to get the first problem solved. Just curious and any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Pierre

I finally broke down and ordered a "factory restock" XW-P1. It won't arrive for at least a week since it's on backorder but I'm looking forward to finally getting my first "real" Casio synth since my CZ-101 many years ago. Pierre

Hello! I actually posted about this on Harmony Central a while back, but this seems like a better place to address it, so...I'm just going to copy and paste my post from there because I am lazy. I was trying to record slider movements into Sonar 8.5 while in hex layer mode, and the NRPN data is...unusual. This picture shows the data from moving the nine sliders in hex layer mode. I moved them all from the bottom to the top, but you can see the first six sliders (individual layer levels) put out data that starts in the middle and then wraps around. This is a problem while the XW-P1 is in local off mode and receiving the data from the computer because the levels of the layers become unusable, as a volume of 0 ends up being in the middle of the slider's movement. I hope I am not overexplaining this. The sliders work fine in solo synth and drawbar organ modes. I should add that controlling the levels in a hex tone locally work fine, it's just the MIDI data the sliders send is messed up. And I think it behaves the same whether sending over USB or the 5-pin MIDI port. Is this a known issue or is it something that could be addressed in a firmware update? Or am I just doing something wrong? Oh, and if it matters, I have a gold XW. Thanks for any help!
