  1. Any suggestions on how to create and trigger the bomb sound from the great Gap Band song "You Dropped a Bomb on Me"? Also, would LOVE to hear how to create the rising sound on Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk. I created a tone for that and at the moment do not even remember how I did that. It isn't even close to the recording sound though. Many thanks to any support! Geoff the PowerTrader
  2. Can anyone help this rookie XW-G1 programmer with coming up with a sound much like Prince used for songs like "Kiss" and Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk", "That's what I like" and "24K"? I cannot come close. My polysynth stuff sounds very trebly and am radio'ish. Would truly appreciate help. Thanks! Geoff the PowerTrader
  3. So, i was thinking about some things today while playing my old beaten up Tyros (Buttons that are very hard to press, screen is broken, but it still plays great) And i was wondering what it is that makes Casio so far behind with technology? - The styles are pretty bland, 15 years ago their styles sounded lifeless and it seems that it hasn't changed, what's up with that? They could've atleast try to spice them up, right? - Only since 2 years we get 4 variations on a Casio (With the exception of the MZ-2000 but that was already 18 years ago and rumor has it that the machine was developed with Roland) - We get Versatile tones, super awesome! But again, this is almost ancient technology, first machine to have that was the Yamaha Tyros, and that came out in 2002.. - We now get a brand new sound engine which finally seems to allow saxophones to have natural vibrato and flutes to have an overblown effect when you press a key hard.. However, that was introduced by Yamaha in 1997 in their Sweet! Voices. That's 21 years old.. - Velocitylayered drums.. Sorry but i had a Technics KN2000 which already had that. 2 To be precise. And that machine came out in 1993. I can list a couple of other things (Touchscreen, Roland used that in 2005 in the G-70, polyphony of 128? PSR-9000 Springs to mind, that was 1999) BUt i think i've made my point.. I love Casio to death, i really really do! Don't get me wrong. And if the CT-X5000 is really going to sound even better than the CT-X700 then i will buy it as a replacement for my Tyros. But WHY o WHY are they so far behind? I mean, the technology i'm talking about is what 15-20 years old roughly, so why is it so hard for Casio to implement it in to their machines? Why is it so hard for them to catch up with their competitors, is it because they don't want to, or because the can't? Not bashing Casio (my main axe for 3 years was a CTK-731 and until last November i played a WK-1800) But, this is something that has been bothering me for quite some time. Can someone explain/elaborate ? Thanks!
  4. I don´t know if there are too many bands using our toys, but i found out about this on recently, and i think you would like to see it
  5. Roland just uploaded these video where you can program music now kids (actually every one)can make music while learning programming ante up the fun combining two things, How cool is that. I've always found it to be a small behind the curtains thing in the past and the past few years , I've seen Casio, Korg ,Moog , Yamaha and Roland really building up music education programs which is really opening up to new media and growing possibilities that opens up gear in more then one way.
  6. Hi. My first test of CASIO CT-670, my the newest asset, heh. The song's name is "Mikromusikwerk 01". I left the original sound, just added some multitracking for various volume levels (which are not present on the machine itself). The sequencer was ATARI 520ST. Greetings.
  7. Hi everyone i have casio XW-P1, is there any chance to put new sounds in it? if it possible, how can i do that?
  8. I am new to this forum. I am looking to buy a Casio keyboard for my daughter (beginner pianist). I found a Casio Privia PX-120 at a reasonable price. The person says that it was purchased last year. Looks to be in mint condition. I am searching all over the web and cannot seem to find any recent info or discussions on this model. Everything dates back to 2008.... Not sure how new or how good this model is. The color of the keyboard is a slate grey. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks. Jeff
  9. Hi guys, I've just bought this piano brand new from Thomann (really great shop to buy music instruments) but don't know what to think. I don't have many experiences with digital pianos and I've learned that Casio keyboards are generally more noisy comparing with Yamaha and I'm fine with that but one of the keys is extremely clunky on back stroke. What is even worse it is E4 key. Sounds like keyboard or hammer is touching some plastics when returning to it's default position. Like there is no damping on that place. There is another one which is a bit more noisy than rest but not as bad at this one. The rest of the keyboard is OK. I've made a video of that so what do you guys think ? Return and replace ? What are the odds to get another one with the same issue ? It's kind of expensive to send back to Germany. I'm not sure if it's a defect or not. Is this rare thing or normal for Casio keyboards ? The noise is pretty annoying during play and I can hear it even with headphones. Also it's not pleasant once the finger leave the key. Everything works flawlessly but this is pretty distracting. Thanks for your opinions...
  10. Hi everyone, I'd like to share my trombone user wave file with you. I needed the trombone sound, but the GM does not sound very good, so I had to make this custom .ZWT file. I've used sounds from Kontact's banks - Trombone v3 and Trumpet 1.1. The trombone samples are tied to a low 3 octaves and the trumpet samples are tied to a high 2 octaves (limitation of real instrument's range made me use trumpet for high notes). But there were difficulties with looping the samples: when it was repeated I've heard clicks. I've found the necessary points for looping without clicks in the audio editor, but I could not specify them in the Data Editor or in the synthesizer menu - click still appeares. Therefore, I took the maximum possible duration for each of the 5 audio files (the limitation of the duration is probably related to the limited memory size) and used them without looping. That was enough for me in that case. If someone have a better version of trombone/trumpet user wave please share with me. Also I would appreciate if someone could fix looping issue in this file or point me how it could be done without clips and cracks. WBR, Dmitriy Tromb+Trump.ZWT
  11. Its been something like two weeks ago since I've noticed it I couldn't believe my eyes, But after a week has passed it became true there it was the XW-P1 and Thomann is selling them again after a long absent that could mean they might do the G1 also which I favor but.....Will I settle with the P1 with its step sequencer as an extra addition. So here I'm piercing the site like an eagle if a chance happen or perhaps do a quick order but winter NAMM is so close and the GAS feeling is starting to overwhelm me .
  12. The awesomeness of the P1 fully on display. Some other stuff going on here but the P1 is doing the heavy lifting. Would love to hear your thoughts. Texturals
  13. Granted this is mostly Roland SE-02, but it's the XW-P1 Hex pads that really make this piece what it is. Titled "Intro" simply because it feels like it's an introduction to something. I appreciate you all clicking the link, giving it a listen, and letting me know what you think either here or on my Soundcloud page. Thanks! Intro
  14. Hi everyone, I realize I'm late to the party, just picked up a second-hand XW-G1 for a great price. I'm adding this synth to the stable which also includes a Roland JD-XA, Arturia MatrixBrute, MicroKorg, and Korg MicroSampler. Already love this machine, one thing I have to say is the display is a bit of an odd duck, but I will get used to it, seems much easier to work with the step sequencer than I thought. Anyway I hope there will still be people reading and posting here to keep the knowledge flowing, I have found a lot of useful info on the forum on old posts already so thanks!
  15. When I connect my Piano CDP-120 with usb cable type a-b my computer read it but I can't use my piano with LMMS (The software I have installed)... My first question is: Which is the driver download for CDP-120 for Windows 10? My second question is: Can I use LMMS or I have to install other software?
  16. I recently purchased a Casio XW-G1 and I'm trying to determine if samples recorded using the microphone input can be assigned to the keyboard and played back at various pitches using the keys...you know, like sampling a dog bark, and then having the barking dog sing Jingle Bells. If any one knows if and how this can be done, please let me know. Thanks in advance for any help! Jim
  17. Hi guys I am making an electronic music , and want to ask which sources u using for ur misc projects? I often using looperman: https://www.looperman.com and lucidsamples: https://www.lucidsamples.com
  18. Iv'e notice something which seems odd to me actually I don't understand it at all. It considers sampling and the use of the equalizers I've notice the change made realtime if using the low , mid , mid2, high EQ as movement with the phrase sequencer it won't get recorded in the sampler but if you play the sample and phrase sequencer the effect of movement gets played. This make the EQ seems as a global function and can't be routed independently or recorded into the XW sampler. Also the case when used in performance the value's can still be the last one used when switching from performance to performance I'm curious if anyone has some insight if the EQ is at the end of the output of things.
  19. Hi Folks, Nice to be here. My name is Marty W. I recently bought for my fiancee a Casio CTK-6200 Keyboard Sequencer. A very nice little machine. Years ago I owned a Roland XP-60 and while I loved that machine it was an absolute BEAR to deal with. So I'm really happy with the Casio. Here's the thing though...Linda is NOT a musician and I got her this so she could make use of track recording and: 1.) Learn some basic piano skills like chords and melody 2.) So she could record melodic ideas she comes up with for the lyrics she writes for us. She is the lyricist and I'm the musician. Very nice working relationship for the most part. However, as she's improved her lyrical skills, she finds that often she hears a melody in her head she wants me to use in the music but cannot sing it to me or play it. Hence the sequencer so she can simply record the melodic lines to the SSD drive and I can import it into my Studio One DAW. Nothing complicated for the moment. Eventually we will both jump in and incorporate it into the entire studio set up but for now that's all we need to do. Finally found a video that walks us through the track recording process, but for the moment just really need to be able to save the tracks she records. Cannot for some reason save these files to the sim card. Not sure what I'm doing wrong and cannot seem to find a simple press this and so on to do this simple process. It's got to be something simple I'm just not seeing on the keyboard but I could sure use some help. Thanks. Marty
  20. This is a review I wrote recently for a spanish forum (which is not indexed by Google and so on unavailable for most people). I think it may be of use for potential buyers of a medium range keyboard so I'm including it here even when it's written in spanish and this is an english forum just because posting it here will make it widely available (Google does index this forum). Anyway, if you don't speak spanish and still want to read it, you can use this automatic translation tool.
  21. I've been using the EHX Lester K rotary pedal recently, and although an excellent pedal, it has some faults. One of which is the fact that any note below Eb (middle) increases dramatically in volume (for some reason I've only seen this problem persist in the P1). Is there any way to lower the bass in the P1 so next time I go gigging the audience won't have to put up with the ground shaking beneath them? Also, Is there a way to get an unproccessed drawbar organ sound e.g no extra effects such as chorus or gain? I think the Lester K adds some extra nonadjustable chorus - this could be intended, but it also could be something conflicting with the P1; either way this isn't necessarily a good thing. if there is a way to get an unprocessed sound on the drawbar organ of the P1 that would most likely fix all my problems.
  22. Hi everyone! I made three different tones, to intro, first and second chorus to this song. Enjoy.. ENJOY1ST.ZLT ENJOY2ND.ZLT ENJOYHEX.ZLT
  23. Here, the Oxygene 4 patch, ( Jean Michel Jarre ) that i which I built using a programming principle. Enjoy and regards Oxygene.ZPF
  24. File Name: Casio XW-P1 Cakewalk Sonar Instrument Definition File File Submitter: tnt2gamer File Submitted: 02 Nov 2013 File Category: XW-P1 This is a modified Cakewalk Sonar Instrument Definition File for the Casio XW-P1. It will allow you to access all of the sounds on the XW-P1 from inside of Sonar, Cakewalk, Reaper, or any other program that uses the .INS instrument definition file format. In this revision I added bank 100 (User PCM Melody) and bank 125 (User Drums) to Mike Martin's V 0.5 Instrument Definition File. Now we can access 100 more user tones (piano, strings/brass, guitar/bass, synth and various) and 10 user drum kits. Click here to download this file
