Huilian Patrik Seidel Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 Hello my friends! I have a Privia PX160 and two days ago I bought an XW-P1 to complement my setup. The question is: can I connect both via USB cable or do I need an interface like this https://kentonuk.com/product/midi-usb-host-mkii/ ?\ Thank you in advance for your attention. Quote
Chas Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Do you mean connect the PX and the XW to each other and have one controlling the other, or connect both to a computer/ DAW? If the PX has 5 pin DIN MIDI, then yes, using 5 pin MIDI cables you can set one keyboard as master and one as slave, then operate both via one keyboard. With USB MIDI, they both have to be connected to a host/ hub, normally a computer running a DAW software or similar type of application. You cannot directly connect USB MIDI devices to each other. If you want to connect the two keyboards to a computer/ sound interface via the 5 pin MIDI cables, then you will need a computer interface that takes 5 pin DIN MIDI connectors. Quote
