Using The PX-5S As A MIDI Sound Module

I have always used an SC-88 through a MIDI interface as a MIDI sound module sourced by my laptop’s software sequencer. . I now wish to simplify and scrap the SC-88 and use the keyboard for both a MIDI sound module as well as for live performance.  Can the MIDI volume be adjusted separately from the keyboard volume control?  In a live performance this must be done quickly at times.  I could use the volume adjustment in the laptop's sequencer, but that takes too long. With the SC-88 I could be on the knob in less than a second. Please be gear specific if recommending any additional gear.  Thanks!
