Fantastic Document - very thorough! Casio should give you a job!

This might be a long shot as I am very new to the XW-P1 and I'm not absolutely sure about your XW settings and external config... Perhaps you need to configure the Solo Synth Block & DSP setting then backup data/save for each tone you create with an external source before rebooting the XW-P1?? There is a relationship between Parts - Zones & MIDI External Inputs. There doesn't seem to be an option to save Mixer data to Flash storage or upload to PC, have you tried using the 'All Data' or 'Setting Data' backup setting?? Do you use an external sound block (MIN IN/INST IN jacks) as the Oscillator Block then apply it to the Solo Synthesiser? Normal DSPs - Can be saved and edited as a user DSP (see page E-37 of XW-P1 manual) - then reapplied to user made solo synth tones. Solo Synth DSP - Saved as part of the Solo User Tone Zones 2-4 played only in Performance Mode effect internal sound sources as well as external MIDI sources. 4 Tones, Master EQ, Effects, DSP configs are all saved into the 'Performance .ZPF' files. I don't really know what else I can tell you. Thoroughly read the XW User Manual. It confuses the hell out of me! There are settings for the DSP, but it depends what your applying them to, and if your keyboard is controlled externally via MIDI/virtual controller then maybe that will over-ride Mixer/DSP settings. I've not done much experimenting with the XW sadly. I find the unit a bit daunting, so I play the guitar instead. G'day all and thanks for contributing to this plethora of knowledge regarding the Casio Synths. I bought the XW-P1 last year and was completely daunted by the depth and versatility of Casio's contraption, not having any idea on what I was really buying. But I know Casio has been building digital keyboards for years and have heard from many people in the industry that they usually sound better than the rest. My biggest problem is I have no idea how to play it, but i'll persevere... I've been searching the forum for more detail on how to things. A big thanks to Patrick for the huge post on how to upload WAV files via the Casio XW Data Manager. Q.1) I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on how to create a SMF (Standard MIDI File) type 0 / or type 1 (*.mid) that will be compatible for upload to the XW-P1 ? Q.2) If this is possible are you then able to play normally over the MIDI output with all the functionality of the Synth? Q.3) I noticed upon playback of my sample .WAV file - that I was restricted to only using the solo synth tone category? There is no mention on capability during file playback in the manual on E-72 or there after. Could I edit the default synth tone? G'day, I was just fiddling with the MIDI settings myself with a PC. If you download the XW-P1 manual from Casio and check out the settings under Performance Mode (page E-66), there are upto 16 External Out channels for sending 'each part' to an external device... Set "MIDI OUT" to ON to send midi info through the MIDI connection at the back or you could send it via USB instead. Also you may need to experiment with the 'General Settings -> MIDI' ... Set Device ID's, basic ID channels for PerformNRPN, S.SeqNRPN etc. I guess you would also need to set the XW as the 'Master Clock Generator' for the SYNC Mode as outlined on page E-70. Casio also has a MIDI Signals Document for download on the downloads page for the XW, if you wish to delve into that. I hope this has been helpful... What have you tried doing thus far?
