Continuous controller option for pedal 2 on next firmware update?

This one is for Mike Martin (and anyone else wanting to control volumes of layers from a continuous controller footpedal (gradually and expressively). First off, congratulations Mike! I just purchased a Casio Px-5s and it is the ONLY keyboard that I've never actually played before purchasing it. The videos online sold me. And now that I've had it for a week, this thing is amazing. I'm still tweaking it to my touch and style of playing but the possibilities are seemingly limitless with what you can do if you dig in.

Question for Mike: Will you guys ever implement in a future firmware update the ability to control volumes of layers/zones with a continuous controller footpedal? I have a Kurzweil Pc-3x which can do this and I love to be able to swell strings and pads up and down along with a piano sound. The current options on the Casio pedals are of course momentary and toggle at this point. Would this be an option down the line? Thanks for any light you can shed on this topic, Kurt

The PX-5S can not accept a continuous controller footpedal. Pedal 2, using a footswitch can be used for swells using the envelope response feature. If you have the latest firmware (v. 1.10) try Stage Setting 0-3 with Pedal 2 to see what I'm talking about.

The MIDI Solutions Pedal controller can also be used to add an expression pedal for control over 1 zone.

Kurt,

I currently use a Behringer FCB1010 with a PX-3.This midi foot controller has two expressions pedals and is a fairly capable device.

Unfortunately it takes a while to become familiar with it but it would certainly allow you swell pads and strings. A slight downside is that the pedals have little resistance as delivered - but they can easily be tightened to offer more resistance. The FCB1010 is also quite large.

See my post on the MIDI Solutions Pedal Controller. Works for Expression pedal as well. In fact you can program it to send out any controller data you want.

If you need both half damping and expression with the PX5, you could daisy-chain two Pedal Controller and have one send expression, the other half damper information. You can have one of the pedal controller boxes merge the incoming MIDI data with it's own controller data and send the resulting stream to the MIDI input of the PX. Voilà , both half-damper and expression are now possible.

Question is if any stage settings / tones are currently programmed to use this continuous controller data. I asked a similar question in the Pedal Controller post. Perhaps Mike knows ?
