  1. Hi Jokeyman123, it took a while before I managed to look deaper into that. First of all: Great description - many thanks! Understood everything from this detailed response. Going to try out one of the two options ... and report the results.
  2. Hi there, lots of people put bass drums in their piano music. I wondered how to put a bass drum as pedal under the piano? Any ideas?
  3. Issue resolved ... reasons were twofolded: 1. Hardware issue in the PX560 which occurred sporadically ... a nasty slack joint ... depending on the force pullling down the cable (length) ... so my normal headphone never worked ... resolved when recently got an exchange 2. Some (!) 4-pole connectors don‘t get the contact for GND ... depends on precise length of the connector ... I have some that work while others don‘t (tiny length difference). This problem is not fixed with the new keyboard - Casio could improve this by using different female connectors Both problems cause GND connection problems which affects lower frequencies more than higher ones and especially depends on the signal difference of left and right ear - this may (?) explain why acoustic effects like early reflection (and some other) seemingly fixed the problem... actually it just covered it well. Finally: Very tricky ... but solved
  4. Really good! Thanks!
  5. Hi 4bar, unfortunately my headphone has a 3-pole connector. Even worse: with a 4-pole connector it works (sometimes) better ... but only sporadically. I noticed that some plugs have a slightly different length ... which has an influence ... carefully pulling the plug very little and fixing it changes the sound ... sometimes. Let’s see if the solution you have will hold ...
  6. Brad, haven´t exchanged the keyboard, yet ... still waiting for the delivery. In any case can confirm 4bars´ statement that this can hardly be a hardware compatibility problem as this could not be solved by changing the Early Reflection parameter.
  7. Usually I am using Teufel Mute (e.g. https://www.kopfhoerer.de/test/teufel-mute) ... and I have tried it with four other different (fully functional) headphones - the same effect for all. And no, it is not the plug not inserted fully - see picture attached. Regarding 4bar´s question: My firmware version is 1.14
  8. Now it´s definite - my PX-560 is broken. Have to return it. Very strange, though: The effect described above is fully reproducible and affects reed instruments but not pianos (?)... but: Only with headphones plugged (???). Regardless which headphones I use (the same effect for three different ones). When enabling Early Reflection it disappears (????????). And: It is not present in the recorded audio ... When I unplug the headphones sometimes speakers don´t turn on (???) ... but sometimes the sound comes loud and clear including the reed instruments ... no need to "fix" this with Early Reflection. Slightly moving and twisting the headphone plug temporarily changes the sound on the headphones as well ... loud and clear then ... so my PX-560 has a slack joint. In any case the fault is not in the configuration, even though Early Reflection is a (strange) workaround the problem must be somehow related to the headphone plug. Will return the keyboard and ask for a replacement.
  9. Well, not really. At least on my PX-650 the sound is much more dry and close WITH Early Reflection than without ... per default all reed instruments sound really very far away, quite silent and one can hardly hear the typical frictional reed sound. And I have played with system delay and reverb - changes a little but far away from what Early Reflection does. Can you recommend a parameter setting that achieves the same effect? Whoever reads this ... can you try out reed instruments (e.g. sax) with and without Early Reflection to see if you have the same problem? Would be interesting to read your experience. Either my PX-560 has a problem or this was introducted since the firmware update to V1.14. Another problem with Early Reflection: I noticed it is not stored correctly in registration. Everything else is memorized correctly, but the Early Reflection configuration is lost. Is this "normal" or a bug of my PX-560?
  10. Meanwhile I found out how to fix the sax sound ... still the general debugging problem remains ... For the fix see
  11. First the observed phenomena: When I tried all the sounds I came across sax and flute ... which sounded quite disappointing (far away). However I knew from some online material that there is a better reed sound for the PX-560 ... but how? Then, one day I had it: The sax suddenly sounded great ... immediately had to play the Pink Panther with it ... phantastic. Next day the great sound was gone ... and no way to fix it. What happened? Meanwhile I know how to fix the broken reed sounds: 1. Select the sound in Upper 1 (only there it works) 2. Edit -> Effect -> DSP -> select "Early Reflection" Attached an example of sax as it plays per default and with the enhancement above (difference may be hard to hear on the PC - use headphones - big difference on the PX-560). Being happy that this problem is solved still some questions where the experts may be able to explain: 1. Why does Early Reflection change so much? The effect description has not much to do with the effect on the sound ... 2. This is a MUCH better sound for all reed instruments - how can I make this the default? 3. Changing Early Reflection in the Effects -> Reverb does not achieve the same results ... why not? 4. What if the reed instrument cannot go in Upper 1 (e.g. playing in split mode one may need brass in Lower 1 ...)? 5. Is there a way to get this resolved by using Hex Layers? (side comment: flute 2 seems not to use the DSP according to the manual appendix ... still it requires the trick above) SAX_STD.WAV SAX_EARF.WAV
  12. Solved this with Brad´s help: Auto harmonize works only of auto accompaniment is enable (not written in the manual ...), which should not be confused with Arpeggiator (which was my thinking error). See also topic "rtm uhm....cant auto harmonize"
  13. Yeap! Got it ... now it works. Just had to understand that Auto Accompaniment is still different to Arpeggiator ... o.k. ... And: Hey, this sounds GREAT! Thanks to Brad for the patience to explain this ... you made my day ... actually didn´t want to bother you during Christmas time ... thanks anyway.
  14. Well, tried this (actually the same as step 4) ... actually no difference whether Auto Harmonize is enabled or not. Just to be absolute sure I also tried different Auto Harmonize Types ... in any case this should change things ... but it does not: absolutely no differenence. Attached the files: AUTOHAR1.ZAA and .WAV - Auto Harmonize and Arpeggiator enabled AUTOHAR2.ZAA and .WAV - Auto Harmonize disabled, Arpeggiator enabled AUTOHAR1.WAV AUTOHAR1.ZAA AUTOHAR2.WAV AUTOHAR2.ZAA
  15. Sorry - sure. Very simple: 1. set "Grand Piano" to have a defined configuration 2. enable Auto Harmonize (Arpeggiator disabled) 3. tried a few keys - single tones and chords -> nothing different to normal piano tone 4. enabled Arpeggiator (Screw up), Auto Harmonize still enabled 5. tried a few keys -> every key pressed is followed by an sequence of tones with rising pitch 6. disabled Auto Harmonize, Arpeggiator still enabled 7. tried a few keys -> identical result like step 5
  16. Sorry guys ... tried out all you desribe above ... still confused. On my PX-650 the Auto Harmonize doesn´t do anything without Arpreggiator enabled ... and if I enable Arpreggiator it does not make a difference if Auto Harmonize is enabled or not. Can anyone please explain?
  17. Recently I created a registration with Piano and Alto-Sax to play the Pink Panther - perfect sound ... until yesterday: When I turned on the PX-650 the sax sounded as if it was far away, quite silent, long delay between key hit and sound (ca. 200ms). First I searched in the reverb configuration ... was set to Hall 3 like before. Playing around with the individual values changed things a litte but not really. Whatever I did ... the sax sounded strange. The more I tried (changed each value and then setting it back to the original value) ... things got worse ... the sax became more and more quiet. Then ... the keyboard froze totally: No reaction of the touch screen, non of the buttons worked anymore, neither the wheels or knobs ... except power-off. After power-on the same quiet sax sound again. I wondered how to debug such a phenomena. Today I wanted to debug the whole thing the hard way ... first I saved all settings on USB. Then I wanted to try a factory reset, save again and compare the files. Didn´t get that far ... simply because the sax sound was perfect again! So this time I won´t find the issue ... but let me ask to questions: 1. Any idea about the phenomena described above and how I could have fixed this faster? 2. Great help would be PC-tool to read, compare and analyze the ZRA-files! Or at least create a TXT or XML-file or whatever from it ... come on guys ... ;-) ... will help everybody ... :-)
  18. Well - got the hex layer lesson and understand how to edit things. Meanwhile have a workaround slightly different to what you recommended as this had some issues. And not sure if it is really only the DSP double use ... see below. First as Piano is Upper 1 and BassGTR is Lower 1 I cannot edit the hex layers ... only the piano. Just to see what it does with DSP edited that tone and found it uses DSP only for equalizing ... disabled that by changing DSP mode to "Through". So this should avoid double use of the DSP. Strange enough the phenomena keeps occuring when playing very loud. It seems "Through" does not really disable the DSP because next I tried ... Setting Piano for Upper 2, BassGTR also to Upper 1 (in addition to Lower 1), disabled Upper 1 to avoid overlay with the piano but could edit the hex layer (interesting side effect ...). Still don´t know which value to set for Cutoff (can you advice here?) ... but ... the problem is gone anyway in that configuration ... even if I don´t change Cutoff nor disable layer 3. Guess that the DSP is not used for Upper 2 ... is that correct? This way of "disabling" the DSP for piano is more effective than setting it to "Through". Now it seems this is a workaround ... a bit tricky, though.
  19. Have tried to active auto harmonize precisely as described in the manual ... however whichever key or chord I play there is nothing changing. Arpeggiator is not activated ... but it should work independent of that. Any idea what to do?
  20. Hi Brad, thanks for the quick answer - understand and will try out the workaround. As you write "some of the piano sounds use DSP insert effects" ... which ones do not? Then I´ll use those alternatively. Moreover: What do you mean by "lower to volume of layer 3" ... lower what? Editing the piano tone? Or lower filter cut off ... to which value? Apart from that - wouldn´t it be reasonable that the keyboard prevents such non-supported configurations with ugly side effects? Imagine this happens on the stage ...
  21. When I use split mode with Hex Layer 039 GTR'Bass (Lower 1) and Piano (Upper 1) there is a sporadic noisy sound when hitting a key hard - sound is clearly generated by electronic, undistorted, sinoid, about 500-800Hz. The normal bass guitar sound is not generated as long as the key is hit. Disappears with the next key is hit. Occurs sporadically about every 10th-30th key pressed. Firmware Update V1.14 has been loaded (issue was there with Version V1.0 as well). Example file attached. Any ideas how to fix this? Issue_Hex_Layer_Bass_Guitar_in_split_mode.WAV
