  1. I managed to install the Firmware 1.07 even though it was difficult to read the prompts. I did change the contrast so that no icons, other than what was in use at the time, were visible. I saw the prompts as dark grey letters on a black background and only if I looked at the display from an angle of about 45 deg. from either side. Anyway, I verified that I now had V:01.07 installed. It worked! Thank you guys for your help and comments.
  2. Thank you for your response. Yes, by adjusting the angle of the lighting and reading the display from a different angle, I was able to read the prompts very faintly. I think I would be able to do the update, even being extremely difficult to read. I do have the firmware 1.07 which I will install. I wonder if I lightened the display contrast before attempting the update, could I possibly read the prompts? Has anyone else experienced the same "blackout" problem? Is this normal?
  3. In attempting to install the Firmware 1.05 Update, I had some problems. I put the CTX50105.upd file into the root on a 32 gb thumb drive, and began following the printed procedures to install the update. While holding down the 7,8 and 9 buttons, I pressed the start button. All of the icons on the display turned on and the blocks where the Tone/Rhythm names are displayed were solid black. The instructions said I should see "UPD MODE" on the display, but with the number/letter boxes black, I could see nothing. I turned off the keyboard and repeated the instructions again with the same results. I tried changing the lighting angle and viewing the display differently and thought I saw "UPD MODE" extremely faint against the black. I pushed a button and the very faint lettering said SETUP (I think). After a few moments I thought I could make out SEL FILE, but I did not see CTX50105 on the display. If I somehow got to the right place, how do I select the CTX file? And why does the display go black making it nearly impossible to read?
  4. Thank you for the info. My only problem is that I don't understand how to install the registration bank. The manual tells you how to set a registration but says nothing about loading or installing a preconfigured registration bank. I'm pretty good at following step-by-step instructions if I had any. I've downloaded the file onto my computer, but my computer is not connected to the CT-X5000. Do I transfer it to a thumb drive that I can insert into the USB port on the keyboard? The file is a Zip file, does it need to be unzipped and the individual files transferred to the thumb drive before I connect it to the keyboard's port? Can I select which bank I want to install it to? Since Registration 1 [out of 8] of this bank is set up with ModButton and Volume Pedal Assignment, how does that modify registrations 2 thru 8. What happens when I press registration 1? Are there only 7 out of the 8 registrations {2 thru 8 or 1 thru 7} usable? Forgive my confusion. I think a whole volume could be written about all the features and procedures that are not detailed in the manual. It could also use a glossary. Thank you for your patience.
  5. First off, I have a CT-X5000 and the voices are extremely good and useful. My question is, can the modulation button be configured to more closely sound like a real rotary speaker (Leslie). The factory modulation effect is immediate when you press the modulation button and stops the same way upon release and the modulation rate does not work well with organ voices and not really well on most other voices. I have not found any info about modifying the parameters of the modulation button other than speed in the manual. I also have a CTK 7000 and it has a "rotary slow/fast" button which works quite well. You hear the effect speed up on pressing the button and you hear it slow down when released. Granted, these speed changes happen much faster on the CTK 7000 than they would from a mechanical rotary speaker. Is there a way to modify the CT-X 5000 modulation button in attack and release speed as well as the rate of modulation.
