  1. Casiofun, and -T-, thank you very much for your responses!
  2. In the CTK-7200's Pattern Sequencer, is it possible to make the INTRO part longer than one measure? I know the system rhythms have intros with melodies that go for a couple more measures than just one. Is this feasible on user rhythms?

  4. - T -. Point well taken. I understand that my words have been quite brash and brazen... I apologize to those I may have swept under my broad brush. I want those who read this thread to know that I did not intend to knock the specific solutions, rather give off the feeling that the previous threads were giving workarounds, and not ideal solutions, which I believe everyone can recognize. I never, ever, ever, intended to knock people of a specific nationality. Rather, I was expressing frustration at the methods currently available. Again, while my words had reason, they are not excusable, and to anyone I may have hurt in the process of my expression I beg forgiveness. I hope that in the future I can be a part of this helpful forum, and give solutions to people's questions. All the best, and best wishes on everyone's music making!
  5. Thank you pquenin for your helpful advice... Something in that vein seems to be something previously unexplored, and is a creative solution. Is there any way for me to sync the MIDI in the DAW to the keyboard, so that I can record in to a part at the same time that I press "play" in the daw, and there won't be any time difference? (And to -T-, I understand each of your cleverly outlined facts and considered them before ranting on my soap box. I do understand that there is no precedent for some of the more ambitious things I am looking for. I am merely attempting to express to CASIO that there is something that their advanced customers would like. It is up to them, not you, to decide what they want to do with THEIR secure intellectual property. Thank you for responding on their behalf.)
  6. I understand that I summarily dismissed the already available options. In fact, had I not done so, I would have no justification for opening this thread! But all pettiness aside, what I want is to talk to someone from CASIO about this... Someone who knows what they're talking about. As I said before and will say again, obviously the people at CASIO have a better way of programming these rhythms... I don't believe they'd be forced to sit at the keyboards trying to navigate the tedious and unforgiving pattern editor... CASIO, PLEASE LISTEN TO US! YOUR FAITHFUL CUSTOMERS ARE WAITING!!
  7. If you look at http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/4805-loop/, it seems to indicate that it's impossible to shut it off and people have tried to before. It'd be great if we could get in touch with some people at CASIO who really know what's going on in CASIO (because the Phone Support people understandably don't), and get features added to new firmwares, etc., Is there anyone on this forum who represents CASIO corporation?
  8. Try using the MIDI Output function in LMMS. Once you've gotten the PX to show in LMMS, this is no longer a Casio question, but LMMS, so you should probably go to their forums for more info about that.
  9. I direct messaged you about recording in Audacity, as that doesn't really have much to do with this forum. Another idea is to record audio on your keyboard to a flash drive, (see the manual for how to do that, page EN-45) while the mp3 is playing on your computer. Then, transfer the audio on to your computer, and try and line up your keyboard performance with the song in Audacity. Might be better than trying to record direct into Audacity if you don't already have the necessary cables. I wish you the best of luck, and don't hesitate to respond again if you need more help with this!
  10. It seems that it's impossible to play .mp3 on your keyboard. Can you try converting it to a .wav? Also, even if you did convert the file to a .wav, which the keyboard might be able to play, I don't think you can record layers over it. Your best bet is either to get a MIDI recording of the song, if at all possible, in which case you may be able record over it. If none of those options work, I'd recommend using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to record layers of your keyboard playing over the .mp3. While those softwares are plenty complicated and involve a whole science of audio engineering, it seems what you are trying to do is pretty simple from a technical standpoint. There are plenty of tutorials online, and if you are proficient with computers, it shouldn't be much of a hassle to set up for your situation. There is a widely known free DAW called Audacity, which won't get you very far if you ever really want to start recording, but for now it should be enough. It's also worth it to check out Cockos REAPER, which is very low-cost and has a no-restrictions demo, though it is a bit more complicated to set up and use. Hope this helps...
  11. I know this is a bit late, so I'll post this for any users who still have this question. How to record a song to a card (in English, and not Manual-ese): Insert an SD Card that is no more than 32 GB into the slot on the back of the keyboard. Hit the big button that says "AUDIO RECORD" that's right below the left side of the screen. Choose a file to record in. By default there are 20. You can go do a different file by turning the big control wheel under the right side of the screen. (If you see [[FILE]] ------ *1 at the top of the screen, that indicates you are in file 1. The little star next to the "1" indicates that the file has already been recorded in. If there is no * next to the "1", then you are in an empty file. Recording in a previously recorded-in file will erase what has already been recorded.) Hit "AUDIO RECORD" again to start recording. When you are done recording, hit "AUDIO RECORD" to finish recording. Now, you will be able to play your file by hitting the Play/Stop button. Once you've recorded files on to the SD Card, you'll need to download a copy of Casio Data Manager for your keyboard here: https://support.casio.com/en/support/download.php?cid=008&pid=67. If you insert the SD Card into your computer, and open the program, you should be able to use the program to copy the audio files to your computer. Once the DataManager program has opened, you can go to the Audio tab to proceed to transfer audio to the computer. Select your SD card by clicking on the button next to the icon of the sd card. Now, if you click on a file that you want to transfer to your computer, you can hit the arrow pointing toward the PC WAVE FILE list, and it will transfer to your computer. Done! Now, to find the files on your computer, click on the preference tab to see where the directory is that your files were saved in. (Under WAVE file folder path). Hope this helped in some way or another...
  12. I'm speaking out of experience from my CTK-7200 and reading the manual for your WK7500, but the keyboards are basically identical besides for amount of keys. I think the only way is by doing so manually, probably the way you are accustomed to. Hit the Bank key, and spin the big control wheel quickly to the left, which will take you to bank 1. Now hit registration button 1. Should take you to your preset. It seems to me that this is the only and fastest way to do it. (This is better than having to cycle through all the banks by hitting the button over and over, though. You can also navigate the bank number by hitting the + and - keys.) Yeah, kind of stinks as far as making a seamless transition, but if you just stopped the song, and began this one, shouldn't take more than 5 seconds... Also, as an aside, the wheel is the best way to quickly get to the beginning or end of something. If you spin the wheel quickly, it will skip to the beginning or end of whatever has been selected. All the best, and if you do find out another way yourself, be sure to let us all know!
  13. I don't personally have the PX360M, but I'll try and help as much as I can from my understanding of the manual, what you are trying to do, and a general understanding of digital music equipment. A couple of questions to clarify... What exactly are you trying to do? I think it should be fully feasible to play a song, whether audio or MIDI, while playing the keyboard over it. I know I can do that on my CTK-7200, and most Casio keyboards have a lot in common. Also, which format is the song in... Is it an audio file, with extensions .mp3, .wav, or something of that genre? Or is the song in MIDI (extensions .mid, .midi, .smf, .zmf), which is a format that records the notes, and not the audio. I don't believe there is an official way to upload an audio file to the keyboard, though I have done it on mine. MIDI should work fine over a flash drive. You can find the manual at http://support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/008/Web_PX360-ES-1A_EN.pdf if you don't still have your copy. I'd recommend taking a look at page E-56 if you haven't already. Hope this was helpful, and please reply with any more questions!
  14. I've also had issues with Tempo on my CTK-7200, I believe similar to what you are experiencing. The workaround seems to be to record while adjusting the tempo to 86, because tempo, like notes, is something you can record on these keyboards. Let me know if that works for you... Otherwise I'd just say stare at the manual 'til it imparts it's wisdom upon you 'cuz that's what the phone representatives do anyway, and then you won't have to go through the trouble of calling them. You can find the manual online here: http://support.casio.com/storage/en/manual/pdf/EN/008/Web_PX560-ES-1B_EN.pdf All the best, aystaum
  15. I don't personally have a PX-160, but it seems according to the manual that there are two USB modes on your keyboard. If you would like to transfer MIDI, put the keyboard in Storage mode. If you want to use the keyboard as a controller for LMMS, then you have to put it in MIDI mode, and possibly then exit and re-open LMMS. I believe you can toggle the USB mode by holding down FUNCTION and pressing the E an octave above Metronome Beat 6. Look in the manual for more info. As far as LMMS, if you would like to control an instrument, you must go to it's settings by clicking on it's name (E.G. The triple oscillator or Kicker instrument), and 1. Set the input device by clicking the piano icon. 2. Enable MIDI Input. I haven't used LMMS in quite a while though, so you may want to check with a forum there if this isn't working for you. Best wishes for your music-making success!
