  1. Hello, If I want to take a drawbar organ and save it transposed down an octave, how would I do that? I know there is a "user" drawbar organs section (about 50). Could I save it there? If so, how? (Unlike non drawbar organ sounds, the "tone editor" does not seem to allow you to change octave settings). (Or would I have to save it as a registration, which is a less preferred route to go). Thank you. Jeff
  2. Yep, I run into the same exact issue when moving from a split key registration sound to a regular present. But, as long as you understand it and prepare for it, it does not appear to be too tough to work around it.
  3. I used to play a PX-160 (and prior versions). I always noticed, when I plugged into an amp the low frequencies were too loud. I recently switched to a PX350 and the problem appears to be gone. Anyone else notice this? Jeff
  4. I am playing a song in another key and "cheat" by transposing the keyboard, how do I do it if I am using more than one registration "part" (I think that is what they are called). For example, I have an organ and sax part I want to use in a song. I want them both transposed a half step from concert pitch. It seems when I use function transpose key I usually use, it returns to the un-transposed key whenever I switch between the organ and the sax within the registration bank. I think I am figuring out that I would have to transpose and save the part (so the transposition would be included whenever I play the part) . Of course, if I did that, whenever I went to that registration bank/part, it would not be the normal key (it would be the transposed key). Is this pretty much right? (If I used a sound outside of a registration bank and a transposed the keyboard, I think keyboard would stay transposed for whichever sound I used). Thanks, Jeff
  5. I used to do a lot of midi recording/composing. I used a PX-160 for playing sequenced midi piano parts. Worked fine (I used a high end piano software sample library in Kontakt, but I am not sure which one (Sampletekk Black Grande, I think)). I think you may need to decide if you want a weighted keyboard (e.g., playing piano parts) as a controller or a non-weighted synth type keyboard (maybe controlling other type of sounds/instruments). Also, if you are sending controller messages (filters, etc). you may (maybe in addition) an (likely) inexpensive midi controller (may not include any sounds) with more controllable knobs.
  6. Thank you! This is great. Unfortunately, I have had this issue with several Privias (PX-160's and earlier). And I think it is time consuming for keyboard repair places to do, so they say it is not worth it. If videos could be posted for other models (PX-160), maybe I would try to fix the problem key on the keyboard (sometimes improperly get full velocity on a key). But, of course I will try compressed air first. If anyone has links for other models (PX-160, PX-350), I would appreciate including the link(s).
  7. Thanks (just so you understand where I am coming from), the downside is that is you have to keep pushing the bank button (potentially up to 15 times) to get to the bank where you can clear the registration. But, I hear you. Its not a huge deal. (This should really only occur when switching between songs). Anyway, appreciate the input (and the quick thorough answer!). {Actually, even less of an issue now that I realized you can quickly switch banks using the "dial" tool (or whatever the prop name is for that).
  8. Fair enough. I think I disagree (I think an "option" to return to default setting on leaving a registration would be helpful. But, I am not a keyboard programmer. . . or even close). But, more importantly, I appreciate your quick and (I am sure) accurate response. A sincere thank you! Jeff
  9. Thank you! (I still think it would be better to have an option that registration settings are automatically canceled (returned to keyboard default) when you leave the registration setting).
  10. Hello, As you know, when you save a registration, this can include splitting the keyboard, octave changes (and other settings). So, if you are using a registration and then switch to a non-registration tone, it messes it up by retaining the registration settings (octave changes, etc.). Personally, I wish there was a setting so it did not do that. So registration settings would be canceled if you switch to another tone (not registration) and it would return to the default tone setting. Of course, one way to deal with this (what I had been doing) is turn the synth off and on to clear the registration settings. I guess what you are "supposed" to do is change to a registration patch (bank and number) that does not have splits, octave changes or other registration settings? Or am I missing something? Is there a better way to handle this that I have not figured out? Thanks! Jeff
