  1. Wow! that would be really be excellent if you do that Scott, I know I would appreciate that a lot, and im sure there would be many more who also would. You da man Scott.
  2. I agree, a better loader would be the way, however if casio doesn't give us a better loader at least a disclaimer with a antivirus warning might save other's who might be new to the xw's from having a screwed up synth.
  3. Hopefully casio is adding an antivirus warning, and a disclaimer.
  4. Thank you Andrey_sad, it was one of those thing's I needed to know.
  5. I just realized, I have an addiction to casio keyboard's!
  6. Hi DAVID, I have been playing music most of my life. Started really getting into it, since about 1980. Started out with guitar, gradually moved to the synthesizer. I am not a schooled musician, never had formal training, I am first and foremost a song writer. All my music gear is hardware, slowly learning to use software. I do have a sony vaio laptop with a bunch of different software that im intimidated by. Thank you for your interest.
  7. Hi Andrey_sad, im curious, is the $117.50 for an xw on warranty?
  8. Hi Scott, thank's for the info. I am considering this board, the only thing is, will I survive the holiday hoarde's of people? ( lol)
  9. Hi Scott, thank you very much for fixing the link. You are a very thoughtfull person. I don't know much about computer's, website's, forum's. Heck this is the only forum I have ever joined. I guess if there was one word to describe my knowledge about computer's, forum's, and the enternet, that word would be duh. It is weird though. My brother Mike can build computer's. I guess he got all the smart's in the family. He is going to teach me how to post link's, pics, and video's so I can at least know just enough to effectively be on this this forum. Again, thank you sir.
  10. http://world.casio.com/emi/xw/english/ I messed up this link, go to third site down after you click this link. If that doesn't work the website is xw series special site. Once your there, go to interview's. Every one has probably seen this already, but it's new to me.
  11. Hi Scott, I am curious, do you know if the sampling keyboard is a ctk-2300, or ctk-3200 with pitchbend?
  12. Hi happyrat1, thank's for clearing that up. I did not know how casio handled these type of thing's under warranty. If I pay only to ship an xw to casio, under warranty for firmware fix, that is fair. offering a discount for bad update to non warranty xw owner's would be a nice thing for casio to do. All and all, it apear's, for a big coporation, casio is cool and ethical
  13. Hi happyrat1, that is very good new's. I hope I get what you are saying. Are you saying that if I have a xw under warranty, and I updated the firmware and it botched exactly the way some have, then I would get it fixed at casio's expense with no cost to me? If so, then indeed, casio is an ethical, and cool company.
  14. I guess I should not expect a big company to have good ethic's. Seem's pretty much none of them do. Let's say at the most there were 100 bad firmware xw's, heck even a thousand, (on warranty) it would be not even be a drop in the bucket moneywise, for casio to pay to fix them, it would be like me donating a dollar to charity, not gonna make or break me. when you consider a company like casio has more money than god. I am a little unclear about casio's policy, if casio is paying the bill for botched firmware under warranty, and under the circumstance's that the xw's were botched,( basically their bad,) then they are cool, but if they are not paying to fix xw firmware under warranty, under those circumstance's, then that isn't cool. But then again I guess nobody ever said corporation's were cool or ethical.
  15. Yes it finally happened, im responding to my own post. I know I ranted a little, I just want everyone to be able to enjoy their xw's, be it under warranty or not. Perhaps casio could offer a big discount to fix xw firmware's that are not under warranty. There probably isn't more than a handful of xw's with this problem. The small amount of money casio would lose doing this would be virtually nothing, and it would go a long way in the way people look at casio. In the long run it would actually help casio secure consumer loyalty.
  16. Hi zymos, I to would like to see any evidence of charging to repair xw's under warranty. if there is anyone out there who had charge's under warranty, please post it on this forum. I realize I could be jumping the gun on this , if so, I will eat crow. Personally, I hope I never hear of a case where casio did not fix firmware under warranty.
  17. Hi forum, If someone's xw get's screwed up from this firmware update, and that xw is on warranty, casio should pay entire expense to get it up and running. If casio does not pay entire expense, then they will lose alot of customer's, and in the synth arena, no one will ever trust casio, again. I love my xw-p1, will never part with it, but if this is the way casio does business, I will never buy another casio anything again. Im not saying I feel this way now, but if I hear of people with xw's on warranty got charged one red cent to fix firmware, then im done. CASIO, here's some advice. Fix all warranty firmware's(up to this point) at your expense, then put up a warning on the firmware update page, explaining the danger's of the update, a disclaimer of sort's. At least this way if someone get's a screwed update , it will be the consumer's fault and not casio's.
  18. Hi DAVID, no need to apologize, your just helping to keep thing's fun on the forum. Hi Scott, the rubber pad is (purrfect) for cat rest. PS, I enjoyed the cat synth pic's.
  19. I also have to take my cat's out of my studio when I do any kind of firmware update's. I started out with just one black female cat, then she got pregnant, now I have five cat's in my house . I couldn't go through with taking them to an animal shelter. In my area it seem's no one is adopting kitten's, and I just couldn't bare the thought of them being put down, so now I guess i have become the crazy cat lady, er um, crazy cat man. P.S. the cat's are almost as obsessed with my XW-P1 as I am. it is difficult to write song's with cat's laying on my xw.
  20. Hi AlenK, I actually like the xw-p1 keybed, heck, the darn thing does glissando's like butter. My old Yamaha motif was kind of clunky when I would do glissando's. Thank you for alway's shedding light on these type of thing's.
  21. Hi bill, the xw-p1 seem's to have a lot of volume, it and the motif are the only digital synth's I have owned that could probably blow my speaker's. I have to keep my xw-p1 volume at around two oclock, if turning down xw-p1 doesn't work try testing your speaker's by running other gear or cd,mp3 player's through speaker's. Make sure volume of external gear is up. if other gear make's your speaker's pop, you could have a blown tweeter on the right speaker. if speaker's don't pop with external gear then it might be the xw-p1, on some tones the xw-p1 will slightly pop, if you turn the cutoff a little to the left it will eliminate the pop. I have found turning cutoff just a little doesn't effect the tone. if any of these thing's doesn't work then it could be that you need an audio mixer running through moniter speaker's. as opposed to using the stereo kenwood, that is if the kenwood is made for listening to music like cd's or mp3 player's . as far as what level,s of the gear, and the kenwood, when in doubt just turn everything to about half volume, bring up volume's gradually til pop apear's, then back down the volume a little until speaker's stop popping. hope this was helpfull.
  22. I am very slowly transitioning over to a sony vaio(window's 8) with Cubase, and sound forge audio studio software, with a lexicon usb audio interface. What I know about computer's could fill a thimble.
  23. That's what I love about us electronic musician's, we can be like mad scientist with audio.
  24. I would sign up on a facebook casio forum, but I can barely keep up with this forum. Just not enough time in a day.
  25. I have a new sony vaio with sound forge audio, and Cubase. As I am finishing my big 24 song double album on my vs2400, I am slowly learning to work in the software world on my vaio. Eventually I will also use my multi tracker for mixing and fx.
