  1. Sounds like YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE, in the intro section.
  2. And like any other keyboardist within his range, he STILL doesn't know how to properly demo the orchestral sounds of the CT-X5000. He just slams his way through them, like he's in a Styx Tribute band. You do NOT play orchestral patches like a "keyboard player". OK?
  3. There is also a need for a detailed video about how to do MIDI Multitrack Recording on the CT-X5000. The "manual" is stone-cold useless for this because all it tells you, is how to record something that goes somewhere, for the FIRST track, but then you don't know where to go for tracks 2-16. And the precious few video tutorials on youtube, are done by people who are so anxious to dazzle us with their "musical talent" that they forget to SHOW us which buttons we need to press in order to get to where we need to be. Here's a prime example:
  4. For one, even with the advanced AiX sound engine, CASIO has only provided 64 note polyphony for the 5000. The MZ-X500 has 128 poly with the MXi sound engine, which is one step BELOW the AiX. THIS, does NOT "compute" because an advanced sound engine should HAVE 128 poly, in order to prevent "voice stealing" and "drop outs." WHY "drop down", in these terms, unless CASIO came up with a brilliant "work around" to this conundrum, that most of us don't see yet and especially, the fact that the 5000 has a 17 track sequencer? Second, why ONLY a 4 band Global EQ for the MASTERING FX? What's wrong with a Limiter on the same basis ? Third, in order to prevent unneeded "Menu Diving", the 5000 should include 4 "instant" reverbs and 4 "instant" limiter or compression settings, like they did with JUST the reverb ( but just 3 settings) on the WK-1350. The WK-1350 was a brilliant example of the above, PLUS it also had buttons on the face of the rig to access different functions almost instantly. If you wanted to go from "record" to "mix", it was THAT easy! Bring back the two tier sliders ( 8x2 ) for faders, and add 8 knobs for the pan function, so that we don't have to menu dive, anymore than is necessary. In other words, make the most BASIC of recording functions available on the FACE of the Keyboard, instead of having to "look for them." From the "Face" anyone should be able to choose a tone, a rhythm, and a track to record on. And from there, make it just as easy to mix down and add effects. More later, I'm sure.....
  5. The end is the "labor" and "birth" part. Thanks for the comment, sir!
  6. Dang I'm getting old! $450 is much BETTER than $500! Yee-HAW!
  7. At only $500 for the 5000, I will NOT hedge my bets against needing a "few more things" against purchasing the 3000. In other words, go LARGE, otherwise, you wind up trading in the 3000 for a 5000. And at $600 LESS than the MZ-X500 and ALSO including the first generation AiX sound engine, there is NO way that YOU or I, could possibly LOSE! To repeat for the "cheap seats"-NOW you can get the LATEST sound engine, for the price of an AHL Powered WK-7600, from a few years ago, for the SAME PRICE!!!!!! If THAT doesn't make your pocketbook happy, then I don't know WHAT will!
  8. If the X3000 was supposed to be a "Great Bargain" at the stated price, then WHY did Casio bother with an X5000? YOU could get everything YOU need for less than $200 bucks with the 700 Model.
  9. One advantage that CASIO will always have over Korg. The UI of Casio is not NEAR as confusing, as the PA series, or Roland, or Yamaha. Right now, I am trying to dump my recent purchase of Korg PA600, in favor of the CTX-5000, for more than ONE reason.
  10. My battle-worn WK-1350's screen is STILL alive and it's 18 years old. I don't know what everyone else does, but for ME, I just claim NOT trying to DO anything HARMFUL to it, in the first place.
  11. What's wrong with a USB to MIDI converter box?
  12. Oh boy! I'm getting ~~~~~*old~~~~~*
  13. Melody, Orchestration and Sound FX performed on the Casio CT-670. Percussion by the Alesis SR-16 Drum Machine. https://soundcloud.com/skyy38/the-birth-of-the-phoenix
  14. Orchestral Piece done entirely on the CASIO WK-1350. When Mike Martin listened to this, he could hardly believe that the WK-1350 was capable of such a thing! How many of YOU , in "Casio-Land" also like to do "orchestral" on YOUR Casio Keyboard of choice? Let us HEAR you!
  15. No, this version sounds just FINE to me! As long as you start with "High Quality" then the "damage" to your track is minimal, if anything at all! The bass is especially nice! I was thinking, when the NEW Casio CT-X5000 comes out, you should get one, and re-do this theme yet again, as an "A-B" comparison! The PX-5S runs on the "AiR" Sound Engine. The MZ-X500 which followed, runs on MXi. For the FIRST time in history though, CASIO is going to introduce their latest Sound Engine. AiX on the CT-X5000, which is HALF the cost of the PX-5S! This is BIG, because in the past, the NEW TECHNOLOGIES were introduced on higher priced keyboards FIRST, before the technology "trickled down" to less expensive rigs! This is a very bold move by CASIO, and one I personally think, that will make EVERYONE take CASIO , much more seriously than they did, in the past. Long story short! Think of it as getting a slice of PRIME RIB for the price of a BIG MAC!!!!!! I'm not kidding! I am already wanting the CT-X5000 like YESTERDAY, because this rig, is going to blow everything else OUT OF THE WATER, as concerns "Performance to Price" ratio! Stay TUNED!!!!!!!!
  16. And WHERE to put each "toy." Hee-Hee-Hee
  17. Less is more, and it always has been to me, even when I had *more*, but not by too much! Pictured: CASIO WK-1350, A nice pair of KOSS 20/20 Headphones, ZOOM H1 Handy Recorder and a broke down TEAC Dual Cassette Unit. With my laptop, and AUDACITY, this is basically the "way I roll." Back in 1990, during the era of "not by too much", I had the following: Tascam Porta 05 4 Track Studio Teac Dual Cassette ( when it was still fully functioning ) Hitachi Six Head Hi-Fi VCR Alesis- MMT-8 Sequencer SR-16 Drum Machine Micro Verb Micro Limiter Casio CT-670. ****************************************************************** In the glorious, hi-tech, low cost, NOW, all I need is the CT-X500 and maybe a software advance to Mix Craft 8.
  18. Yes, the lava lamp to add that "70's lava warmth" to your mixes. Also handy when you need to shave in the studio!
  19. You wanna know the nice thing about rock salt in your shot gun? No ballistics!
  20. Yamaha, has been in the workstation department ONLY as long as their other competitors. And it wasn't Yamaha, Roland, Korg or Casio, that came up with the concept first.
  21. If most pros STILL think that CASIO Keyboards are "toys', or derisively refer to them as "Fun Stations", what makes you think that wrapping a bunch of "Casio Stuff" in a sardine can is going to change their minds? And why does the age-old correlation of "money means performance" still exist? My $60 G-Shock tells the time as well as a $5,000 Rolex. ( You ever notice in the movies, that people are always after the one with the MOST money and LEAST amount of brains?) For HALF the price of a GENOS, I would still have enough money to properly equip a home studio with many *different* pieces of CASIO ( and a few others) gear and still have enough left over, to throw a party that would make a roman orgy look like a "toss-off" session to the lingerie section of the Sears catalog! Good sense + Proper Budgeting. That's all you need.
  22. Wasn't the original MSRP of the MZ about 1,700 or so USD?
