  2. REO performed the wind thing live like that in one of the videos. But, It's like you asked before Joe. Which version does everyone think of? That would be the one I would perform. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4T5gjIiLRCg
  3. Joking aside, I had an old Casio keyboard that flooded with muddy salt water from a tidal surge caused by a hurricane. I cleaned it with a garden water hose inside and out. I let it dry out for a few weeks and powered it on and it worked. I wouldn't recommend anyone else do that though. As far as normal cleaning goes. Outside of catastrophic floods, my keyboards don't get very dirty. I just dust them off every few months or so. Even then they are not really dirty.
  4. David. If I spill any Root Beer on the PX5, I'll just clean it off with the water hose outside the house. <<< ------ SARCASM TAG
  5. I don't know about the date Joe. But something just dawned on me after looking at some other live versions. That synth sound at the very beginning is supposed to be the stormy "wind" sound. Duh. If I had realized that when I made the stage setting I would've gone for a more authentic wind sound.
  6. Use the front panel of the PX5 for editing the mod wheel. The data editor doesn't show the names of DSP effect parameters. It only shows DSP parameter numbers. Before entering edit make sure you have the organ zone number (I'm guessing Zone 2) selected on the main screen. Once you assign a DSP like "rotary" to a tone, the mod wheel "target" list will change and the names of the parameters will show up.
  7. Hi Doug, If I understand your scenario correctly, try this: Edit your stage setting. Scroll to common edit. There you will find knob and slider and wheel assignments. Enter modulation edit and set it to "speed".
  8. WHAT!! No food or drinks? I thought that was what the black rubber pad was for on the PX5. I've been setting my Root Beer float there while I practice.
  9. I have to make a sad confession. I've never heard the song or at least don't remember if I did. For those who don't know, I made this Stage Setting to help out a fellow PX5 owner. I made the sound based on the version he posted for me. This version has some extra synth goodness at the start of the intro. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPk4EX2GDc0

I made this sawtooth wave Stage Setting for the intro to Ridin the Storm Out by REO Speedwagon. This should get you through the entire intro of the song. To perform the intro, I was starting by adjusting the resonance on slider 2 to get right level of nastiness before play. I then hit the low A note and slowly adjusted slider 1 for cutoff to get the nastiness too sweep. I set slider one to max out at the right spot. BTW: I have chorus on the mod wheel if you like to add some move it all the way up. Portamento will sweep you up to the next high C note but to turn around and bend back down to the high A you'll need to use the bender wheel. I set the bender to stop at the right spot. Then adjust slider one back down to lower the cutoff and then release the note to fade out. I hope you enjoy.

  12. A new update to my old piano. This Version of the Piano has Key Noises added. I tried to approximate what it would sound like if microphones were picking up the sound of the piano action. The key noises are not very useful when your using your piano deep in a mix with many other instruments but it's nice to have for solo piano work especially in the softer passages. It adds that extra bit of realism. Of course, the sound is adjustable and can be completely removed if it's unwanted. Slider 2: adjust the level of key strike noise. This is not as important as the key release noise, but I put it in just for kicks. It adds extra low end to the strike noise that is already in the original samples. Slider 3: adjust the level of key release noise. This is best kept at a level that is low and subtle yet still noticeable if you listen for it. The default levels were set using headphones. You'll need to adjust the levels to taste depending on your listening environment and style of playing. Start by quickly adjusting the slider levels to the extremes while playing a few notes (upper register with headphones is best) to get an idea of the sound your adding to the mix. Turn off Zone 1 to hear just the key noise because the key noise is a hex layer I created on Zone 2. This Piano still includes Early Reflection DSP and the adjustable wet level for it is on Slider 5. Adjust to taste. Casio's piano sample is very dry which is a good thing because you can remove or change effects if you need too. I think this Early Reflection effect brings the piano sound more in line with some other popular piano sounds from various brands. If your used to those then maybe this effect will satisfy you. The knobs control EQ. Simple. Mike mentioned clipping in a previous version. Lesson learned. Guys, double check your uploaded files. I had no idea that the file I uploaded was clipping. I have double checked this version. I think it's good. Here's the download page. http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/files/file/69-ndc7-grpiano-2-with-key-noise/

Here is Retro Casio for the PX-5S. This is an emulation of the famous VL-TONE Rock rhythm. It also emulates the VL-Tone Piano but with more polyphony and key range (obviously). The Rock Rhythm is triggered by the upper most B note. It's made with an arpeggio. As a happy accident, variations of the rhythm can be heard on the two adjacent keys. Enjoy !!

  15. It's written on the panel Alex. The long line above the arpeggio and sys setting button with "HOLD" written above it means "press both buttons to hold".
  16. Your midi file was showing some controller data along with the note data. My guess is the Lesson system might be misinterpreting some of that data as notes and as a result some keys are lighting that should not be. Although I would think Casio has engineered the thing to ignore controller data. IDK It's a theory. Try this. It isn't what you really need but it's worth a shot. http://www.jsbchorales.net/sets.shtml Its a zip set. There are two midi files starting with 0147 in there that's the choral. These are 8 track recordings. You will have to keep changing the Navi Ch to get all of it to show up. It starts with channel 8 down to 5 and jumps to another 4 tracks. It's confusing but it's something. Sorry I couldn't help more.
  17. Hi longtalker, I was concerned that you might want a full version of the score but the one I suggested is all I could come up with. Perhaps some more searching could turn up something. The file that your in need of will contain the right hand part on one track (any # other than 1) and the left hand part on the next lower track. This is how the LK-215 knows the left from right hand. The NAVI CH setting tells the keyboard where to look for the right hand channel. It then automatically looks for left hand data on the next lower channel. Your midi file compiles all of the piano data into one track (track 1). The LK-215 cannot distinguish left from right in this case. About fixing your file: It would be very difficult, I'd say almost impossible, to properly separate the notes of that single track into left and right hand tracks. Maybe there is some software out there that can do it. I don't know of any. I would suggest continuing to search for a midi file that is recorded as two tracks (left hand and right hand). I hope this helps.
  18. Hi longtalker, Download AP60 (1) from here http://www.casio.com/support/driverdownloads/musical_instruments.html The zip file contains a midi file "JESUSBLE" Set navi. channel to > 2. I hope that helps.
  19. Thanks Gary, but i'm good. The mic input on my Dell can record some pretty darn clean and noise free audio, thankfully. It's able to handle a high level input from my keyboard without distorting so it gets above the noise floor easily. There is some minor DC offset that's only evident by zooming into a recorded waveform but it's easily removed with a high pass filter. I'm happy with it. I would fix the rear audio input myself, but I don't worry about it because I really don't need it. If the front mic input ever does go out that's when I will buy a quality audio interface. Pssst.... I've secretly been hoping the front Mic input does go out so it will give me an excuse to buy an audio interface but it won't die.
  20. Thanks Gary, I'm careful with it. I was worried about the same thing you are when I first used it for that. I was kinda forced too use it. Dell shipped me a computer with a malfunctioning rear audio input. Rather than fight with Dell, again, over having it repaired I decided I could live without it. That's when I tried the front Mic input. I discovered it works fine. It seems pretty darn tough.
  21. Double P, What DAW software are you using? There is a free audio driver than will reduce latency. It's called ASIO4All. I don't think it can be used with all software.
  22. Hi guys, The Pink Microphone input can be used for line level sources. I do it all the time with no trouble. The trick is you must disable "Microphone Boost" on the Realtek HD Audio Manager. This allows the mic input to act as a line input. As with any audio input you must be careful not to overdrive it and in turn it does not overdrive your DAW software. Another problematic feature in the Realtek HD Audio Manager is "Loundness Equalization" on the sound effects tab. Make sure that is disabled as well.
