  1. Hi Dreamer, Mike has posted about this earlier. He said that the stage settings are included in V1.10. The stage settings posted here in the download section are for backup purposes in case you accidentally lose them. And Mike, I see the improved KEY FOLLOW functions in Ver.1.10. (from the manual). I noticed that this is for Hex Layer tones and not melody tones. It has me wondering. Is a hex layer limited in any way as to which samples can be used in one? And, are melody tones single layer? I'm sorry, I'm used to the MZ-2000 with 4 layers for everything. Also a side note for the downloads section: I wish there was a way to have the descriptions of a file tag along with the file when you download them.
  2. Hi willf, You don't get Mike today, he's busy. You got me. Just kidding. I'm sure he'll chime in. Anyway, I'm pretty sure it can. I'm seeing it in the PX-5 manual under LFO>PITCH. You can specify pitch/amp wave type, pitch rate, depth and delay.
  3. Interesting... I just looked that up. Floating Split Point? Huh... It figures Apple would be the ones to come up with something like this. They're always thinking outside of the box. I wonder if anyone else did this before them.
  4. That's exactly what I was thinking! I was going to put batteries in as a precaution. If the PX-5s is anything like Casio's of the past, the batteries will kick in instantly without any noticeable interruption.
  5. Gee Wiz guys. I'm still downloading it. Only 50% percent there. Got an hour to go and I started at my first post. Internet on a budget. Gotta love it.
  6. I don't think Mike is coming back. He's probably thinking "those guys have gone somewhere that I don't want to go" .
  7. Double P, Is it what Mike said, a split, or: Are you asking if there is any "keyboard" or "keyboard controller" than can intelligently identify and follow your two hands and possibly even your fingers. So that no matter what key on the keyboard your hand plays, only the tone assigned to your hand will sound when played. If so, you just invented it! Go forth and become famous.
  8. Dang man, that was...... big. Thanks. Facebook? IDK I'll think about it. You realize your stuck with me after that, right.
  9. Thanks. Jared Beaney with Casio Australia can help you AndreiR. Hi, Jared.
  10. OK. I pulled the trigger on ordering the PX-5s. Now I wait. Maybe I'll paint up a blue thumb drive to read "CASIO" while I wait.
  11. I thought you might. I added some more to my post above. Refresh your page just in case you missed it. I can't help much beyond that. I'm sorry. All I can say is that Midi devices have to be able to see one another. There may be some settings in Garage Band that you need to change in order for them to talk to one another. Again, Sorry. What kind of things did you want to do when you do get it to work?
  12. My pic is one i took of my MZ-2000 screen during bootup. The word Casio is animated and flys in with water ripples below it. I tried to put and animated pic here but it didnt work. A midi connection allows one device to control the other. For example, you can trigger sounds in a drum machine with they keys of your xw if you wished. Many things are possible. It gets very complicated at higher levels. Garage band can control the sounds in your XW or the other way around. For the connection: I know that the usb jack on all Casio's is a standard printer cable type jack. Do you have a printer cable handy?
  13. Hi AndreiR, You have a new profile pic! Is that your actual setup? As for the ipad? I don't have an ipad so I'm useless on this really, but I've read that the camera connector kit for ipad is how its done. You probably already have this though.
  14. Also, I like your studio setup behind you at :07. Thumbs up.
  15. Hi George, The firmware will be out soon. This is where you will find it when it's released. http://support.casio.com/download.php?cid=008&pid=340&rgn=1
  16. Edit 4.17.2015: All tutorial videos can now be found at (Edit Nov 2021: Site linked to was deleted) I thought this "topic" would be a good place for sharing PX-5s tutorials. I'll start with this introduction. (Edit 2021: Video has been deleted) Nice video Mike. Is that entirely PX-5s sounds in the teaser intro? (0:00 - 0:30) Who composed that? Oh! and where can I find the official "Casio" branded flash drive seen at 0:34 ? Or do I have to paint up my own?
  17. Thanks Gary, I'll have to study this. MIDI stuff stretches my brain to the limit.
  18. Happyrat1, I use cakewalk too. I've always been curious about those INS definitions. I never messed with them. Is it easy to make one?
  19. Here's a little more about it. http://www.casio-intl.com/asia-mea/en/emi/past/high_grade/mz2000.html I'm still pretty proud to have one.
  20. Yes I've looked on youtube for the MZ-2000.
  21. Exactly! Quote: "ive got user tones out of it (tones),(hex),(organ),(solo synth) that go far beyond the presets." I've always said this about the MZ-2000. Even simple tweaks make a big difference. Just recently I was using the "Jazz Guitar" tone for an 80's power rock thing. I run the Jazz Guitar through DSP for Distortion, Amp Sim and Delay but the release time of the guitar was to long for a natural sounding staccato play. A quick tweak of release time made a world of difference. I've found I've needed to shorten release time for Brass and Trumpet sounds for other stuff as well. It makes a big difference for staccato stuff. I've made much better sounding synth tones like syn bass and syn strings. The list goes on and on.
  22. Yes I hope this forum grows too. I will be sticking around myself. I just hope that 1 other person with an MZ-2000 shows up. BTW I love those XW synths. They have that 1980's look to them I loved the look of those 80s synths. If I could, I'd own every XW they made especially that chrome orange one. But I'm going for that px5 for now. Maybe it will come in chrome blue! are u listening Tokyo. I have to say though that the current white, blue and black look has grown on me. So, pat, I would love to hear about your creations with your XW-p1. Drop your thoughts on us. This is the perfect thread for it.
