Hi All, I did another mix contest. I am getting better at ripping songs apart to get the drums and bass line. I remixed a song at http://www.talenthouse.com/creativeinvites/preview/ab48721afa62ae2cde2db0da02b8d0ca/989 I used a Samson Mike..through the Xw-P1 to record my voice. I like the XW-P1 mike effects / pre processing... made my voice sound better than I thought it would. Especially with a $30 mike. Enjoy the song...As usual comments / tip are helpful. Sean

noisiest keyboard in the world
Sean777 replied to Patrick Arend's topic in General XW Series Discussion
Hi Pat, The Casio XW-P1 has a "Noise Gate" Filter... It's adjustable also. Basically the filter will remove/ partially remove and sound below a certain level. A nice feature of the XW. -
Hi All, New Song ... remixer for a contest on BeatPort. I used the Casio XW-P1 for Percussions, Bass, Pads, and Piano. I used a Waldorf Blofeld for UltraBass, SynthLine. I used Logic Pro as the main DAW for vocal audio, audio processing. Pulled MIDI melody from Bass Stem and then reworked vocal tracks split into Female Lead - sent through a Vocoder filter, refrain (Drive) chorus sent through delay filter. I unfortunately like the song as it was, which makes remixing tough. I dont know about you but repainting part of the Mona Lisa with an upside down smile is not my thing. Please listen and Enjoy...pointers are always welcome. http://play.beatport.com/contests/tomorrows-world-drive/517b232a1624de067ded7352 Sean777

Synchronization XW-P1 with Electribe EMXSD.
Sean777 replied to Gnomo Alegre's topic in General XW Series Discussion
Hi David, I was thinking about getting a Korg Electritribe EMXSD also... I just acquired a Waldorf Blofeld Desktop. I can use either the Casio WXP1 or Logic Pro to drive the module. -
Hi All, You can also send midi files to the phrase user presets via the usb interface program. Also you can pick any instrument from the midi file by setting midi cc 0 (bank MSB) and then the midi program change to set to any of the presets for channel 1( or 14 if set to solo synth). I have been setting the instrument from logic pro by using the above. You can change the preset instrument as often as you want. I did this in my sound cloud song Euphoric Trance to the groove line. Hi Geminii23, I use Logic Pro 9 and Logic recognized the XW p1. I would suggest updating the firmware using the Casio Support site. I would also suggest getting the data editor up and running. The data editor was an easier way to help understand the Midi Capability of the XW-p1. The Data editor was an easier way to see how the mixer and midi windows worked on the XW-P1. The default setting is for some of the MIDI channels to be turned off. I don't have an option to upload a file so if you want message me an email account and I will send a Logic Project with mapped Casio XW USB MIDI.

My first true exposure to synth music was with Jon Vangelis, the third record (yes vinyl:)) I bought in the early 80s (I would have been the class of '84) was Spiral...I proceeded to buy three more of his records. I liked the sounds and I could study by them in college. I finally returned to my love of synth's last year..took up the staff and started to learn music composition, main reason I bought Logic Pro. I was hooked...I stumble onto the XW-P1 because I was looking for a 40+key midi controller...then the wild idea crossed my mind to look at a simple synth...XW-P1 fit the bill, Midi Control Capability, 61 Keys plus bonus of huge assortment of sounds to play with. I almost bought a Novation Synth UltraNova but I liked the sugar coating of step sequencer / arpeggiator / performance keying. I use to look for the next Software Synth package to buy...Now I want to run the XW-P1 harder

My setup is simple...starting up in the hobby I started with an iPad -3rd gen - got hooked on Rebirth app by Propellerhead, picked a couple of apps Animoog (Moog Synth App), iMS20 app by Korg, then bought Logic Pro for my Mac - sharp learning curve, took an online music class through iTunes U which made you (lol, hooked me) on a free (started off being free) app TableTop...bought PolySix App by Korg, then FL Studio Mobile, then finally Synergy Studio. I have a basic home brew studio - Mac connect to Roland Quad Capture via USB. Mac to M-Audio Oxygen25. iPad can either connect directly with Casio WX-P1 with camera kit usb I/F or Wireless connect with Mac, Sound to External in on Casio. Casio is connect to Quad Capture both Line L/R line out of WX-P1 and Midi In/Out of WX-P1. Casio sometimes connect to Mac via USB Quad Capture goes to DI then to Pioneer Stereo Amp with AcoustiMass speakers.

Hi All I have finally filled in the rest of the song. Yesterday was a long journey into Midi Control. I found that you could not save the mixer Patch choices within a performance. I found the safe way - setup the automation on my DAW (Logic Pro) to send the Bank and Program Change values. With this I also learned that you can changes patch on the fly with the automation. The WX-P1 responded well to all the Midi information provided. I changed the "Detuned Groove" track Patch 6 time in the first 40 Bars. I had to create the sweep Patch and then automate it to behave correctly. @Happyrat1 - Thanks for the advise, the sound effects / ambients drones / program change filled in the two minutes. Final ( Comments / change recommends are still welcome.) Song is on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.c...e-casio-remix-2 Sean

Hi All, I remixed a version of BeatElite's Euphoric Trance - Logic Pro drove WX-P1with MIDI, recorded the output through a Roland Quad-Capture, with no additional effects provided by either the Quad-Capture or Logic. Song is work a work in progress...I need to add HH/Cymbals to drum track and add a sweep special effects. Any pointers are welcome for final remix. Next time I'll capture sound at 96K or 44K instead of 192K SoundCloud is Slow .... Link to SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/sean777-1/euporic-trance-casio-wx-p1 I'm Sean777 on SoundCloud also. Sean

Is there a way to make your own PCM tones
Sean777 replied to Sean777's topic in General XW Series Discussion
Hi Mike Martin, Can you provide a file format for the PCM tone .ZTN files? -

Sean777 replied to Sean777's topic in General XW Series Discussion
I think I can reverse engineer the file. I looked at one of the PCM tones with Adobe Audition, the Waveform is 44.1k mono .02sec (132 bytes long). There is a header with the file name, DSP /chorus / reverb setting / embedded. The file has a ending word, probably a checksum of some sort. I will need to experiment a little to figure out the exact file structure, will look at the file with a hex editor. -

Sean777 replied to Sean777's topic in General XW Series Discussion
@happyrat1: I have Logic Pro and can make my own samples...and publish in any sound format - PCM is one of my options. What else needs to be done to the sample to allow it to become useable by the Casio keyboard PCM melody? I think Casio keyboards could run the market if they gave users this ability. I have a lot of virtual synth sound I would love to use on my Casio but need a way to get them on there. I have layered in external sounds from my iPad through app's like animoog and the sounds are great but I would like run the sound without having to fire up both keyboard and iPad. -
I was wondering if there is a way to make your own PCM tones from your own wave files / PCM recordings?

I'm not sure exactly what djpat was looking for. I have found all the manuals online including a midi appendix I have not quit digested. I have had wxp1 for about 2 week. Last week I finally bought a usb cable. I connected the casio to my ipad and the integration some of the apps was really simple. Drove the keyboard from a sequencer called Synergy. All I had to do was a simple map the channels on the app. I also have tried receiving and sending with Logic Pro with success but I am digging deeper in this area. What does this ins do ?
