Aside form the obvious differences-76 keys on WK7600 vs. 88 on the 8000-neither of which are hammer-action keys, I had looked into the 8000 but ended up with the PX575 which has alot of similarities to the WK8000 except the hammer action keys on the 575.

The sound engines used for each are different. The 7600 has the newer, somewhat better AHL sound engine while the 8000 uses the prior ZPI, which is no slouch for sounds either IMO. The WK8000 uses the IDES 4.0 software including a drawbar, Leslie on/off and percussion software front-end but also has hardware buttons instead of drawbars while the 7600 has the drawbars.  I haven't owned the 8000 so can't speak from direct experience.  i have had the WK series with the AHL sound engine. I honestly ended up liking the older ZPI overall but that's me-the 575 uses the same soundset as the WK8000 so I am familiar with that too.

I also thought the operating systems on the older 8000/575 are easier to work around than the newer WK series-the screen is larger, easier to read and the functions didn't seem quite as "hidden" in menus. Maybe some others can weigh in, but the WK8000 looks a little more solidly constructed and I am not sure the key action is the same-I have a sense the 88-key action may actually be better than the 76, more substantially built even though it is not weighted or graded as is my PX575 but I haven't played an 8000, why I went with the 575 for a classic Casio. And if music notation is something you'd like to see-the 8000 will show your chords on a score in the screen which can be useful. and the 8000 will weigh more but not by much-18 pounds for the 7600, 23 for the 8000, pretty lightweight for an 88-key. an neither have midi DIN ports if you need to hook up to older midi equipment but both have USB ports for computer connection.  hard call, good luckeither way.

Thank you very much for the reply jockey man, indeed the advantage of the 88 keys is great and with the modulation wheel you can have really good Leslie organs or drawbars.

I think I would end buying the 8000WK and I understand the engine sound, but hearing some YouTube videos is not soooo bad for daily music playing on my home, since I will not take it into gigs or live performance but I think even though it should perform very well.

Maybe there is another user with the experience with the keyboards but thank you for your review!

A plug inserted in the headphone jack should disconnect the internal speakers.

You are the man! I did that and now I have the keyboard fix thanks to you.

I was down because I did not know if it will work both speakers , but now I am over the moon.

    thanks again.

I don't think I completely understand your setup.  Are you using your keyboard solely as a MIDI controller now?  Can you simply plug a socket into the headphone jack to disable the speakers?

So basically I was using Midi USB, yesterday Arrive the cable for the R/L inputs and I tested some external speakers and both L/R worked...but the problem Is that I control everything from the volume wheel on the Casio.

The internal only working left speaker of the Casio Is making sound so I have the two speakers working + the one speaker in the casio when I press of a key, my question will be how can I mute the sound from the internal Casio speakers and have the external speakers working with the cable L/R?

Thanks hope it clarifies a bit.

  4. Thank you for the reply @Brad Saucier I just ordered a cable and now is too late. At least I can try and see.

I was able to connect it via USB midi and now I have audio via 2 speakers, so at least is that now In another topic is: is there a way to transmit the Casio WK 6500 assign different sound instrument via channels?

Like channel 1 Piano, Channel 2 organ and then switch seamlessly between sounds?

    Thank you!

  5. Dear community,

yesterday my internal right speaker died, the cables internal black and red in the internal speaker the soldering was not quite good and got disconnected.

I am no solder myself and I am unable to repair this due to not have transportation. Now my question is If I buy a 1/4 mono plugs to 2 RCA cable to the L/R inputs on the back should the both external speakers work individually or it will still work 1 speaker since the internal speaker on the Casio is loose?

This is a very important question, due to maybe I am able to fix this issue momentary and appreciate any response to help me out on this.

    Thank you all!

That has been a problem with all Casio WK series.  The (now) current WK-7600 is the first to deal with it; a dedicated button.  You can sort of fake it by playing in EDIT mode with the Rotary Speed parameter on the screen.  What is interesting is that they did the proper ramp-up/down programming to do the realistic motor speed change (single rotor, I believe).  I did that on an old CTK-900 this week at a rehearsal and was impressed at how realistic the effect works (called ROTARY).  Software is cheap, buttons are expensive.

One additional workaround is to save your organ tone with the default rotary effect (SLOW) as a patch on the registration buttons.  Then edit the DSP Rotary effect so that the speed parameter is set to FAST and save it again on the next button; same page.  It will not transition smoothly but you can do some sort of trick, such as a glissando to the bottom of the keyboard, switch patches, and gliss back up with the rotary now on FAST.  It can work.  Where else can you get a Leslie for $200 bucks that includes the Hammond?

Thanks for taking the time on response man, and yes you are absolutely right by this price range the capabilities of this workstation is amazing!

I would definitely mess around about the rotary and maybe I can assign to the quick recall buttons to have like one patch of organ with huge rotary and the other will be normal one.

    Thanks and stay safe!

  7. Dear all casio players,

Hope you are doing fine, I was wondering due to this keyboard has huge capabilities and things to do, I know that there is a mic input that you can use and I was wondering if somehow you can emulate a vocoder using a VST or maybe another workaround?

I love 80' and 70' disco and city pop music and I was trying to see some VST'S but seems to edit pre recorded tracks instead of real time vocoder

Thanks in advance for any inputs.

    Kind regards,

    Seba.

See Pages E-62 and E-63 of the WK-6500 manual for the creation and use of Registrations.  A Registration is a snap-shot of most of the current settings of the keyboard, at the time the Registration is created (saved).  Later, all of those settings can be recalled qucikly at the touch of a single button (touch of two buttons,  if you are also changing Registration Banks.  Also, see Column 2 in the Parameter List on Page E-127.  Every item on that list, with a circle in Column 2, is saved to a Registration, when it is created.   The WK-6500 offers 8 Banks of 4 Registrations  per Bank for a total of 32 Registrations online in keyboard memory for easy access, but it will also save "Sets" of 32 Registrations to an SD Memory Card, making the overall number of Registration "Sets" that you can "load" into the WK-6500's internal memory, essentially limitless.  See Page 102 through 108 for use of an SD Memory Card.

    Hey T,.

Thanks for the reply and the information, unfortunately this option is for the digital keyboard in built option to use and not for MIDI in use system. My inquiry was reffering to Midi in built use and not the Digital Keyboard directly.

Like for example using a VST via midi USB and to switch between tones like channel 1 - Church Organ and Channel 2 - EP. Piano and you can instantly change the channel to switch the tones automatically via MIDI and the program itself.

Do you know a way via midi and not internally from the keyboard itself to work?

    Thank you!

  9. Hello Community,

I recently started to plug the USB cable on my Casio WK 6500 and everything was working flawlessly with Purity, Hypersonic and different others VSTS.

The only problem that I am facing now is that when I select 3 different instruments on different channels I cannot find a quick way to switch the channel in between to avoid loss time when playing a song or performing/playing live.

I know that you need to go to Function /Midi and from there you select the channel to change the instrument that the keyboard is sending the information, but my question is if there is any other method quickly to change Midi channels on the keyboard?

Because I played in the past a M -audio 88 keys and had a functionality that you hit advance and a note and it will change the channel directly. I would love to know if anyone face this issue and find a workaround or not.

Thank you very much for any help!

  10. Hello casio community!

I have this great keyboard and I am in love....the only thing that I am missing on this keyboard, is when I am playing the organ we do not have a modulation wheel to make that Hammond sound top notch quality with the modulation filter

I see some expression pedals but I see that there is no input...and I know that there is a setting in the system in built in edit, but I want something quicker when doing an instant performance.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!
