  1. Its a good thing I've search the forum for this midi problem cause I also have the mpx8 as trigger pads and sample player now its working nicely with my G1. cheers
  2. That a good idea, Next time ill regularly all save everything to SD and the computer in separate folders with dates. I make the mistake when saving a Performance mode patch that the step sequencer patch also gets saved which is not. I'm now like Aaaaah hours in editing and adjusting gone specifically one patch that gave me satisfaction feeling of accomplishment.
  3. When I save a performance or step sequence the G1 does it nicely, Because i'm afraid to loose everything worked on its also copied from the SD card to my computer. Recently when I put or save something on the SD card and try to retrieve it I get an "Wrong data" message. lost several of my performance patches already .More over is that I did load an allsave file into the G1 which delete all the performance and step sequence patches I've made *sigh So half of my files can't be read some don't even show up listed. The rest which where on the G1 are lost.
  4. Lol me to it only means you're very excited with doing the next cool thing.
  5. Funny that this topic is mentioned the only thing I've seen on my G1 was as bit of dust in between the keys.
  6. I wasn't sure of it I'm still trying to convince myself, sometimes I'm getting it and then I don't there is to quote someone that reviewed the keyboards "A muscle memory learning curve" here and it is tricking me. This is the thing I don't have the P1 I have the G1 I did that cause the need of sampling without a computer plus I wanted an Casio. I knew about the P1 hexlayers but bluntly though the G1 has it also(It did but not so greatly as the P1). The learning curve tested me to find out everything about the G1 and boy how it did. In short after several months pushing twisting and sliding knobs and sliders it let out bit of its self what it can do and not and for sure the thing it is capable of. The G1 can do more then the P1 actually can in sense of Performance and Groove, The G1 is a Groove synth a while ago a member asked about if something like Karma could be done for the XW series. If you look at it Karma does lots of complicated midi messaging and pattern assignments algorithmic. The more I've delved in the step sequencer capability and slider knobs control option shows G1 can change behavior of a tune tone , note , effect, arpeggio , groove etc. I don't know about the P1 but the G1 step sequencer and performance mode can be edited in way's that can change every single pattern of a sequence from the eight assignable pattern buttons even switching instruments on the fly how cool is that. The tedious part is programming the synths virtual controls sliders and setting things up for performance even less midi CC message which seems short on effects. However I can only know then when I'm using something like the midi designer app suggested or something similar. At first I also though the buttons and slider function between the P1 and G1 where similar but they greatly differ for instance for me it was normal to create a two wave solo synth tone and then edit the sound by the sliders and pressing the buttons on the left of the synth. Never took notice that it was different for the P1. It seems a bit blunt to say the XW series synth function differently even if some of it engine part work the same they each hold their own purpose of performance. Its all there a synth you can do lots with just by discovering stuff inside of it.. There is a certain muscle memory learning curve at work but surely one that pay's of in time.
  7. If I would guess the next Casio could be an extended or improved WK or CTP serie as a teaser. Well the XW series and PX5S came as an surprising Casio hit after several years absent from the synth market. I'm guessing if Casio does their market study right and go forward on the their impressive sounds and action the latter doesn't matter as the quality of what they produce and the price that go's with it are perfectly balanced as always. Still I want more DSP , arpeggio's , after touch , velocity switch control I already love the knobs and controls almost everything can connect to the XW-G1. still I agree with someone else on this forum the midi CC lacks information for effects and what not but the NRPN partly suffice as of yet I don't know how far that reaches still scratching the surface. Performance mode is wicked cool, Once figured out that the step sequencer might be programmable by midi on the fly i'm going to be hooked on Casio for life.
  8. It will take quiet some button work to get your sample as you wish to play on the key's best to use the editor application for this, I think a better intuitive sample editor app would be best for the G1
  9. So how do I do that with the G1 using layers.
  10. I've voted frequently. Well should be almost frequently the result are not nearly as good the level Mike Martin does but I'm still in my basic novice level learning the settings and parameters.
  11. I work with the sliders after I've setup two initial waves from there forth I "try to get some" interesting sounds shaping by sliding the switches etc.
  12. Aah to bad so it means the tones are fixed velocity's. Its odd cause I though tone 334 StringSpacePad as one of a few has some after touch in the velocity if i'm saying this correct. So it also cant be done in the layers of the G1?.
  13. Unless depending on which mode you've used the default is always a solo-synth tone. The G1 remembers the mode used as last. If you want to change the mode at which the G1 start up you can go to settings or if connected to computer set this by using the application.
  14. What definitely persuade me to buy a synthesizer so bad is a good fun and entertaining demonstration. First time I got into synths was about a year and a half ago blown away with Jordan Rudess on the Kronos, But I could not afford that one then my MW1 came after that the Casio XW came into the picture it was like travelling back in time to experience the synthesizer world again. And then came PX5S I like how Mike Martin demonstrated the many aspect as well for this guy Ralph Maten.
  15. Does the P1 only exhibit velocity switching if not so how can I do it on the G1.
  16. while creating new sequences I always found that the sequencer did not record at the specific key and had to transpose them down going to the mixer and select the specific instrument. So with every sequence I made transposing was quiet off :K then I discovered. within the list of option key-shift this is what I did. Press following 1. Step seq 2. edit 3. track param 4. keyshift enable to off. Now I don't have to transpose each instrument way off but I still think I'm doing something wrong here.
  17. Thank you so very much David that much better then what I did before.
  18. I want to create a Performance for two instrument tones a lead synth on the left hand and Piano on the right. But I want the arpeggio activated to the left hand and not for the right hand. Somehow the arpeggio plays the whole range of the keyboard for the lead sound on my left hand and If I turned arpeggio off for the piano no sound will come for the piano. And only the lead will produce sound with the arpeggio same go's for phrase as well. Is there a way to use arpeggio and phrase without the rest of the sound going off or arp.
  19. So this also means I can't load P1 hex-layers onto the G1
  20. Ahah I though different because G1 only has four zones for hex that the other remainding channels where just off, I did not look further into that or think that it also be for external source. Thanks AlenK
  21. I mend by that selecting a step sequence from within performance mode .
