  1. Hi all, what’s a fairly simple way to get something close to a Hammond B3 sound ( a la Booker T) from my keyboard? Thanks
  2. With panel lock on, would that prevent you from being able to switch between sounds/tones (e.g. electric piano to organ to piano, or different ep sounds)?
  3. I have same question-glad to see I'm not only person who doesn't know what these are. Some kind of cheat sheet would be super helpful for those of us coming to this instrument from an acoustic instrument background.
  4. interesting hypothesis, jokeyman. when it's happened to me I've been playing with band-when I'm hitting the keys much more vigorously than usual.
  5. Thank you. I appreciate your presence on these forums, prompt responses, patient and helpful attitude. Unrelated question-does the registration function also capture rhythm and tempo settings ?
  6. Mine has done this too--only twice-the first time I thought I had inadvertently hit a button, but the second time it happened mid-song when I definitely hadn't. The first time i could only fix it by doing a factory reset--annoying because I had saved settings I liked. The second time I connected the chordana app. The split function was not on, but accomp was showing as on-turning that off fixed it. Both times the lower half of the keyboard had switched to an organ sound. I have not set up any registrations. both times happened after I'd been playing for awhile. Would be very difficult to capture, as it happens so intermittently. Both times happened after going back and forth between different sounds (pianos, electric pianos, organs). I have never deliberately used the split function. (and in this case it appears that the split function was not activated despite 2 halves of the keyboard producing 2 very different sounds.) p.s. after reading one of the above threads, i will mention that I do have the auto resume function on (it's very useful for me).
  7. Thank you! Worked perfectly (and was very easy once I knew where to look).
  8. How do you change the volume of the rhythm on the px s3000? The drums/percussion are pretty loud on mine and overpower the keyboard sound. Thanks.
  9. not sure what, if anything, to make of this, but when I play the demo song on the 3000, it sounds great; and I had to turn the volume down-anything above 11 o'clock and I was getting blown out of the room. Turning off the demo song and going back to grand piano mode (with keyboard touch at the lightest setting, -2) I could not replicate anything close to that sound, playing as hard as I could (I'm 6'2", 200 lbs, former collegiate athlete and still very active).
  10. I think what’s getting left out of this conversation, as suggested by Gr3yWolf, is the possibility that there are some defective units out there. We’re talking about a piece of equipment with a lot of complex technology built in. Other manufacturers of high quality, reliable sophisticated electronics (I’m thinking Apple) occasionally have issues with a device and/or update. I was initially hoping it was user error ( which I think can be ruled out, given that the same thing is happening to multiple users on units straight from the box); or a fixable programming error.
  11. Yes, I own a cheap Yamaha; and have played a high-end Nord several times. I’m very happy with the electric piano and organ sounds on the Privia, and like the feel, look, and functionality of it. It’s just the grand piano sound that’s off.
  12. Definitely more dull and lacking in clarity.
  13. I agree that any kind of conspiracy seems unlikely. However, it does seem that the issue many have noted seems to occur on recently purchased s3000s with the newer firmware. I’m wondering if in fixing something minor with the firmware updates, a change was inadvertently introduced to the default piano settings at least on some units (mine almost sounds like a filter is being applied, or as noted earlier, a soft pedal function is continuously on). I personally have zero interest in trashing Casio-there’s a lot I really like about my Privia, just want to figure out how to get the basic piano (grand and stage) to sound right. if anyone has any suggestions to minimize or get rid of the soft, muted, muffled sound of the grand, that would be great. I’ve pretty much stuck to factory presets thus far, with the exception of adjusting the keyboard touch . I will attach a recording as soon as I find time to figure that out. ( new to digital instruments, have been banging away on an acoustic and driving family nuts).
  14. Mine’s 0104, purchased a few weeks ago.
  15. I bought my s3000 from Sweetwater (usa based company as far as I can tell).
