  1. I'm hoping Casio works it over and gets it right. I haven't heard of anyone with problems for the PX, so if they can do a good loader for it an XW should be no problem.
  2. Sounds good! I think what confuses some ( me, at first) is that each track is monophonic except the chords track. But, each "step" is polyphonic in that you can put the 9 tracks on a step. At least with the sequencer off in step edit mode anyway. I haven't tried it with the sequencer running in step edit mode but it may work too.
  3. You're putting them on the same step with a different part for each sound. On one step you can put Drm1, Drm2, Drm3 ect. With the sequencer off, and with the first preset selected, go into step edit . You can scroll through the steps and parts to see what parts are on each step. I hope I'm explaining this to where it makes sense for you. If not I can give an example.
  4. The file download area is still under maintenance, so I'm hoping they will have a good resolution for this issue.
  5. I rather see better loader. A disclaimer doesn't fix anything.
  6. I notice Casio firmware update download page is under maintenance. Hopefully they are fixing the file.
  7. The XW has probably just about run it's course with Casio and they will be off to the next piece of equipment.
  8. Will be interesting to see if Casio does something about this, or just ignore it, and hope it just goes away.
  9. An Issue like this could be the death knell for an electronic instrument. This issue will spread through the net. People will not want to incur the expense and hassle of sending an instrument back because the firmware update didn't take and killed their XW. I know I'm not going to try to update mine, I'll just use as is and not get the benefit from any updates; even though it is in warranty. What about after warranty? Why have firmware updates if users can't be positive about it going well.
  10. It is unfortunate you cannot get another programmed chip and install it.
  11. I have a pair of Presonus Eris 8 powered monitors that I like. They are nearfield monitors.
  12. Doesn't give ya a warm fuzzy feeling, that's for sure.
  13. Yeah, I saw that a few days ago. What I find interesting is that they are complaining "there is no after touch in this controller". "No way would I pay 500 bucks for a controller without after touch". I cannot understand why they think it is just a controller.
  14. Man, sorry to hear that! That really sucks! Sure makes one want to upgrade their firmware doesn't it?
  15. They should do it up for Windows now. By the time "one day" rolls around the XW will probably be long gone. Not being cross platform in todays tech world is ridiculous. It cripples usage for the Windows people that have purchased an XW. Windows users who may want to purchase an XW may not because of this. Not everyone wants a bite of the big $$$$ "Apple". I love my XW, but it really bums me when a company comes up with something great and then limits it to a particular platform. Mike, you and Casio have done some wonderful work on these instruments, I hope you keep it going in that direction.
  16. I'm curious as to whether the thicker foam tape would work by itself without the felt. What would you think?
  17. Does anyone know what is in the upgrade?
  18. Maybe teflon grease. Something safe for plastics.
  19. Yeah, takes me some extra brain cells for sure. What I do is go into sequencer step edit, 1st step add in a hit in drm1, same step add a hit from drm2, same step add a hit from drum3 ect. go to 2nd step bla bla. So yeah, you can put kick drum and a snare or whatever on the same beat.
  20. My original post I wasn't sure if I was doing something incorrectly. Yes, I was confused by tracks and parts and what you say makes more sense now. Thanks Alen and Scott for putting up with my ramblings. I'm sure I am not clear in my writing and I apologize. My brain has bad sectors lol. I did it in sequencer step edit. I recorded multiple parts on one step. It takes a bit longer to do than on the fly, but if you want precise multiple drums on one step for say a backing track it is good.
  21. I can select multiple parts, lets say drum parts 1,2 and 3, from the keyboard to be played on one step.
  22. I'm thinking part of my confusion on the sequencer may be terminology. I mean we have patterns , parts, tracks ect. In a Harmony Central thread Mike Martin says: "All the tracks except one are "monophonic" tracks. Meaning on each step of the 16-step grid you can only have one note on that step. The last track of the sequencer is polyphonic. Any of the tracks can be internal or external (MIDI) or both at the same time". When he says "note" does that include drums? I understand we can use like a chord on the last poly track. But, we can also use different mono parts on the same step, like kick drum, tom, high hat ect. So I guess stuff is flying right by and I am missing something?
