Don't see the HT series keyboards much these days, nice. HT6000 is on my wish list to add to my Casio fleet.

Thanks for the comment AlenK. I didn't do much tweeking of the synth sounds. The signature synth stab sound was a a custom hex layer plus the PCM polysynth tone. It was patch I made called CZ Brassy, just some saws and one of the CZ reso waves fed through the wah effect.

I use my XW-P1 with an old iPad 3 I inherited from my wife when she upgraded, saved it from going in the e-waste. I was initially just using it for the XW-P1 solo synth patch editor but it turns out it is capable of much more. I started by getting the official CASIO CZ App and just kept going. Korg M1 App, Cubasis DAW, vocal effect processors etc. It's a very simple powerful setup, USB MIDI and 1/8" audio out to the XW-P1. I'd go with the recent basic iPad rather than the old tat I am using. Cubasis is excellent, a full DAW with a touch screen interface, right there sitting on top of your keyboard.

I recorded and mixed this on a Raspberry Pi 4B single board computer using MusE 4.0pre3 DAW software. All instruments are from the CASIO XW-P1. It was all MIDI sequenced and recorded one part at a time to the DAW. The video is a capture from the Rockband 3 video game, I did the best I could to sync up my version of the audio to the clip. The female vocal was produced by cloud based "Vocaloid" software at www.sinsy.jp. I used Musescore to produce the XML music score for Sinsy. It's not quite right but it's better than me trying to pitch shift my voice! LOL

Can't you just turn the reverb and chorus down to zero in the effects settings? (hold down the mixer button to get to the effects setting)

The Apple App Store says MIDI Designer 2.0 requires IOS 13.2, that rather limits the devices it will run on. That means iPad Air 2 or later, iPad 5th-gen or later and iPad mini 4 or later.

Just picked up a new XW-P1. A local Australian music store had some on Ebay for a good price. I'd always wanted one but didn't have the time for music back in 2012. I'm amazed that new units are still around, Casio keyboard availability in Australia is usually a bit patchy at best. Very impressed with it so far. (My other gear includes a few Casios, CZ-1000, CZ-230S, VZ-10m also an Akai S700 and a Yamaha SY-22) I'm curious how the step sequencer determines what notes go on the sliders by default for drum parts. It seems to give you the notes for kicks on drum1 part, snares on drum2, hi hats on drum3, toms on drum4 and cymbals on drum5. I assume all the preset kits have a common layout for these default slider note assignments? I note that the slider setting can be customised, I assume the presets 17 Kick, 18 Snare, 19 Hi-hat, 20 Toms. 21 Cymbal are what you get by default on the drum parts?
