  1. ah, ok. He makes it sound so good. Is using the arpeggiator at all or is it all just with is right hand.
  2. Can someone tell me if this sound is a download? Cheers!
  3. no worries, thanks for the info. I'll try and follow your instructions some time.
  4. one which uses the control you were talking about.
  5. It's in stage setting > common edit >pedal1 edit BTW, I would like that stage setting OP, if you read this.
  6. I haven't tried this yet but I'm guessing you can load the ordered stage settings in the data editor using the package transfer.
  7. Thanks so much for this one Martin, absolutely amazing stage settings in there. Really gives me some ideas of what is possible with the board once I figure it all out. I think I need to learn the basic synth knowledge somewhere but I am learning a little exploring the details of your tones. Hopefully I'll be able to make similar settings one day. GalaXy-5s, magix, and RachelBalld are my favourite at the moment.
  8. Just one more question too before I make the update: Supposing I have stage setting using a custom phrase/tone, When I perform the update and load in my data, do I have to put the tones/phrases in the same position as they were so that the stage setting can find them, I'm guessing I probably would.
  9. oh great, I'll do a save all in case I miss some stuff saving everything indivdually as a back up. Thanks Brad.
  10. very nice. Been wondering about stage settings like this. The only zone used is zone 1 where a hex layer tone is saved. If I just saved that hex layer tone, how does that tone alone compare to saving the entire stage setting. What would I be losing if I discarded the stage setting and saved the hex layer tone? Would I just be discarding the way the user's preferred controls for that tone or would I loosing audio elements of the tone too? Hope that makes sense.
  11. From the video, I understand that 'save all' will not let me benefit from the new features in the firmware but I'm just wondering, does the save all function save any phrases/arpeggios I've created?
  12. I am reading the tutorial in the manual for creating a song on the px-5s I've pressed song, incremented to song 1, pressed edit, and then pressed enter on 'track edit'. The screen just reads '>end'. I'm supposed to be seeing a screen that lets me choose phrases. That does happen on song 0, the sample song. What am I doing wrong? cheers!
  13. Here's a tip. There are two manuals. The one that comes with it is the simple version that omits a lot. The other one is found here: http://www.support.casio-europe.com/es/download/manuals/emi/Web_PX5S-E-2A.pdf It's a lot to get through, but when you are comfortable with the board and the basic controls, that second manual will come in handy.
  14. One guess is that Casio are going to combine the p1/g1 into the pg2. My reasoning is, if they were going to discontinue them and not replace them, they'd tell us, sparking a rush to buy them. On the other hand if the two XWs were being superseded then it would be better not to tell us so current stock would still sell. Which ever it is, I hope I can get my hands on a g1 (or a future model with similar features. I'd like a p1 too in an ideal world where I have unlimited space). I haven't bought one because I'm still learning my px-5s and giving my spare time to that. I should have really jumped on one of the £200 ones.
  15. Wow! I love it. This and Deckard's lead are enough to sell the px-5s.
  16. oh cool. That was a great idea. It really makes a big difference listening to all the types of arpeggios. One thing was throwing me off but I think I have it figured out. I was playing with the 'daft punk talk' sound setting (a download here) and the arp was set at #100. Using the bank button here put the gm piano tone on zone 1. The manual says, for user arps, pressing bank should put whatever tone was in zone 1 when it was saved into zone1. I'm guessing though, as this arp was saved as part of a sound setting and not a dedicated arp save I can select otherwise (without saving it), then doesn't hold true and for some reason gm piano gets placed in zone1. I'm still getting to grips with hex layers but it looks similar to how a lot of stage settings have hex u 050 saved as the tone on zone 1, where this hex tone doesn't exist outside of the stage setting. I'm going to be asking more about hex layers later Thanks for the help for now!
  17. "Using the arpeggio type selection screen to select the recommended tone as the zone part tone" That's a heading under the arpeggio section in the manual. It tells you to hold down the bank button in the arpeggio selection to accomplish this. Can anyone explain what it means? What is a zone part tone?
  18. What cable would I need for this? usb? or by audio interface, do you mean the mic port? Does audacity count as a PC sequencer? Because that's all I have installed at the moment. I'm new to all this.
  19. Anyone know if there anyway to record a song while changing the tones? I was going to record a repeating phrase of all the bass tones but I don't think it's possible to switch between them while recording?
  20. anyone else not able to hear that mp3?
  21. http://www.sonicstate.com/news/2014/01/24/namm-2014-casio-new-voices-for-privia-px5s/ Is the Rhodes setting Mike played a default on the board or was it a load in, does anyone know?
  22. Well deserved, hope it gives more recognition so shops near me start to stock it. I always ask if they stock it, when I go into them and get blank faces but it has lead to some of the staff looking it up and being interested. I tell them it wipes the floor with anything else they have on their floor and it does. They tell me there is no Casio HQ in my country though so that is factor in what they stock as if someone needs a product repaired, there is nobody to go to. There is one large store that was getting in the synths last time I was in. I didn't see Mike mention the G1 in the live steam, just the P1, could that mean it really is being discontinued?
