  1. That's class. Great work guys, Really looking forward to trying all these settings once I get fully to grips with the board.
  2. I'm not seeing a serial number on the backside, is it the one on the bar-code sticker on the bottom?
  3. cheers, I guess this is the English one: http://www.support.casio-europe.com/euro/registration/
  4. Is there anywhere to register the keyboard in Europe?
  5. There's a stage setting on the board at 3:3 called Deckard's lead. Is this new bladerunner setting different to that one? The keyboard came with V1.10 installed, so I was thinking maybe it was included? though I don't think pedal 2 does anything with the Deckard's lead setting but bear in mind, I'm still getting to grips with the board. So far I've figured out how to record the low drone as a phrase (though I haven't figure out how to start it using a note yet, only the start button), so can anyone tell me what else do I need to know to perform the theme like Mike below? I see him move the modulation wheel half way through, is it at its starting point to begin with? Then the last note opens really strongly before the pitch wheel bends it. Is this pedal two 'holding the filter open'? Also, can anyone please give me the chords he plays? I think there's an E, an A and something else in there. The low drone is an E right? Cheers!
  6. Didn't see the new video linked so I might as well post it: Maybe it should be inserted into the OP. Thank for the new one Mike, I plan on watching it today. Still scratching the service of the 5S as I only got it this week, but it is very impressive already,
  7. Anyone ever thought of doing a video demonstrating exactly what the differences are between the g1 and the p1? I'd really like to see that. I though this step sequencing was more of a g1 feature. I've got a px-5s on the way but am not sure which xw to get as I'm new to synths and don't know what a lot of the features mean.
  8. Here's one sheet holder hack for the px-5s here: http://nomadness.com/how-to/music-stand-px-5s-digital-piano Uglier one on this forum thread: http://www.pianoworld.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/2066949/10.html
  9. you can do this bladerunner theme easy enough though right? http://www.casiomusicforums.com/index.php?/topic/4530-blade-runner-px-5s/ Because I was looking forward to doing that. I've heard the music Mike Martin's has put up and that's the style of music I would like to try to create. So you're saying you can use the hex layer function on the ps-5x to layer sounds on the xw-g1? You just connect the two and you can use the ps-5x as a controller for the xw-g1? And you're saying the ps-5x cannot do a monophonic lead. I guess I either misunderstood the synth capabilities of the ps-5x are or I misunderstand what a monophonic lead is. Bare in mind I am a novice when it comes to digital keyboards and synthesizers but I thought a monophonic lead was just using a patch you create in a synth to play a lead — using one note at a time. I though the ps-5x had wave samples (or any sample) you could create patches out of and these could be saved as stage settings. I was going to ask this in its own thread too but I might as well ask it here. Say you have the attack and release levels turned up for a patch on the G1 and you play a two notes in succession. Will the first note cut out as soon as you press the second or will it complete its fade-out? Can anybody create a setting to use the drawbar function or is it only with built in settings? Appreciate the forum and all the help.
  10. How much functionality does the PX-5S share with both of the XW series. I haven't got my PX-5s yet but reading about them all, it seems it shares quite a bit with the two synths. Does the px-5s have a similar drawbar organ to the xw-p1? If you had a PX-5S which would you get? I think I would go with a G1 because it's seems to be geared towards recording music.
  11. Beyerdynamic thomann DT-770 Pro (250ohms) Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro/80 Ohms So apon futher review, I'm going to get either of the headphones above. Both are the same price. Only difference is one is 250ohms and one is 80ohms. I've read that the 250ohm version is geared towards interfacing with professional studio equipment and requires a mains powered amplifer while the 80ohm version can be used with mp3 players and other battery powered devices. The volume will be louder on the 80ohm one but they are susceptible to background hum or hiss as they aren't being driven by an amp. Both headphones are flat so you hear the true sounds but the 250 ohms just offer that bit more clarity. So seeing as I am a complete novice with the technology of keyboards like the PX-5S and will be prone to asking stupid questions, can anyone tell me if it has an amp on board? Do I get the 250ohm ones or the 80ohm ones? (bearing in mind that I would like to hear the best sound fidelity and do plan to record tracks with the px-5s).
  12. cheers, hadn't' seen those. Looking around I'm seeing some people saying that while the 8400's do have very nice memory foam ear cushions, they both have a lean and overdamped bass response. Decent for that price range apparently though. Only other ones I saw were some Sennheiser HD-25s but people are still recommending the ATH-M50 and the Beyerdynamic DT-770 over them. I guess I was just whether I had to be worried about anything specific with the px-5s as I see people talking about mids and bass and amps and DACs. I guess either of those I saw will do though.
  13. Thanks Brad, actually own those Sony 150s myself but I use them on my PC and wouldn't mind a better pair anyway. The technicas do get good reviews everywhere but a lot of people on headphone sites are also saying the Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro/80 Ohms are a smidge better. Thanks for a link to the studio monitors Gary but yeah, I do need to keep the noise down — another reason I'm getting a keyboard. I play at night a lot and there are bedrooms all around me. Would like to get some monitors too but the priority is a good pair of headphones.
  14. I'm want to use the PX-5s I'm getting with headphones, does anyone have advice? I wanted to spend under €50 but from reading around, you need to spend between €100 and €200 for a decent pair and then the next tier is €500+, then €1000+ So I'm looking at either: Audio Technica ATH-M50Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro/80 Ohms Here's a list of them in the price range from where I'll be buying from: http://www.thomann.de/ie/search_GF_studio_headphones.html?pr=139a180 Not sure if these are suitable for the 5x-ps. They're both around €150 These will be the only way I will be hearing the 5x-ps for now. I don't own any other equipment like monitors, amps or anything (apart from maybe my pc speakers). This is my first keyboard like this. I'm more used to playing a crappy acoustic piano which I am extremely tired of and the px-5s looks like loads of fun with all its synth capabilities which I'm looking forward to experimenting with (love that Bladerunner setting Mike posted). What I'm saying is I don't know all the jargon and I don't own other audio eqipment . Can I just plug these in and I'm good to go? The keyboard is shipping after the 10th so I want to have everything ready to stary playing. I'm hoping to be able to record stuff to the PC and layer it but will probably be asking about that in a later post. Cheers.
  15. This one from the PX-310 looks like it would fit it: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/a1/Casio_Privia_PX-310_digital_piano.jpg would it? Id don't know where you'd get it anyway. I can't find it online. Preferably I'd like to get one from thomann.de as that's where I'm getting the Px-5s from.
