  1. Of course I don't know, but you made me curios.
  2. Hi everyone, I know many Casio digital pianos and keyboards have midi out that allow messages via the keys. However, I was wondering if any Casio keyboards have knobs/sliders/pitch wheels that can be assigned in a DAW. TIA!
  3. Hey John, I had the same issue. I picked up this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08JH5QZ47 There are other mixer/audio interfaces that will also work, but this one has bluetooth and was only $40. Depending on what you want to do, this might work for you too.
  4. Hi everyone, I'm wondering about warranty service. For anyone that has ever requested warranty service, can you tell me if these are the centers you would send your keyboard to? https://www.casio.com/support/musicservicecenters TIA!
  5. ok, I tried again on my DP and I got it now! That's so cool! It's pretty obvious on "strong reverberation" setting. My mistake when trying it was not letting off the key I was using to set off the resonance. I could even hear it in the video after hearing it on my DP and knowing what to listen for. Man, I was getting worried there that all those rock concerts from my youth had messed up my hearing so much I wouldn't be able to hear the cool piano nuances. Thanks again!
  6. oh cool. Thanks. Did you hear the sustain he mentioned? I'm starting to wonder about my hearing lol!
  7. Thanks Brad, do you mean that we have to hold the keys we expect to resonate depressed (and perhaps silent) while striking the key that will cause the resonance?
  8. Hey everyone, I was playing with the string resonance settings on my DP (px-870) and I was wondering if anyone knows how it works. I get the concept. When we play notes or cords that resonate with the strings of other keys, you hear the overtones of the other keys. However, I honestly can not hear the difference between the different settings (suppressed, slightly suppressed, reverberation, strong reverberation) I saw some videos on youtube about the implementation in other brands (Y brand) of DPs where you have to depress the keys which will resonate, leave them like that to simulate the absence of the damper, and then play the notes which will make the original keys (undampened strings) resonate. Does anyone know if this is also how Casio implemented sting resonance? I've tried all sorts of things but I can never hear a difference. I'm assuming it's the same on all Casios, or at least Privias. Hopefully this isn't a model specific question TIA if anyone else has also explored this and would like to share!
  9. Thanks Brad, The manual sections seem to spell out most options, but you're right that this one is only indicated in the diagram. I think I got a bit confused and was focused on the concert play volume keys. It's gonna take a bit more time before I figure out the manual. I'll be curious to see if the user midi playback uses the same volume keys. The volume control does work though, which makes it great for adding and using "play alongs". Thanks for the help!
  10. Hi everyone. For any px-870 owners out there, I just received mine after a long wait (hurray!) I'm busy trying out some of the features and one thing I had difficulty with is adjusting the volume of the user added songs. (I loaded a song onto a usb and I'm able to play it) I looked in the manual and could not find a way to adjust the volume so the song is not too loud compared to the piano voices. Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the volume so you can play along with the song, e.g. like you can with concert play? TIA!
  11. lol, I saw the vid when Mike hinted to it at NAMM and all I got out of it was that it would be "Casiotone". Guess I wasn't quite as observant as Chandler.
  12. Mike and Rich gave webinars on CT-S and PX-S series. I couldn't attend live but I watched them tonight. They'll be available all week if anyone wants to check them out. Some artists presentations as well which were pretty cool.
  13. NAMM Believe in Music 2021 coming up very soon Any hints, rumors, etc about new Casio DPs that will be announced?
  14. Hey Brad, Thanks again for the insight. Do you know, or anyone reading this :), is there a resource to understand which models are newer in the Cerlviano product line? For instance, this wiki page was helpful to understand which Casio Privia models were newer and had updated piano samples. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Privia Also, off hand, do you know if there is an updated model in the Privia or Cerlviano line with many voices like the px-780 and 17 track midi recording? ap-650 seems same generation as px-780 from date on reviews I found. I could not find the release date of the ap-710, but this seems about 1K over my budget anyway. Any other options? TIA!
  15. Thanks Brad, I'm new to digital piano's so pardon if my vocabulary isn't perfect. It's a little confusing since the 870 and 780 specs say they use the same sound engine. I'm guessing there are other factors that were updated like maybe the samples for the piano voice? Also, Casio's model numbers are also very confusing. It seems the 770 is very similar to the 870, and both came out about 2 years ago. However, the 780 came out in 2013, long before the 770? I wonder why they decided to jump around like this. I'm also curious if the simulated ivory textures are the same between the 780 and the 870. I'm going to try to check them out in person if possible, though it could be challenging. I think App connectivity will be important in the future. Reviews are very bad, however, for just about all piano apps made by manufacturer. It seems like Roland suffers the most from this, as many of their lower models rely on the app for additional voices and sound recording. I guess +1 for digital pianos with onboard features for the time being.
