  1. The findings are: An expression pedal or at least (my) expression pedal assigned to control volume on a tone part in a registration must be assigned to that same tone part regi to regi, either U1 or U2. If it's assigned in regi 1 to U1 and assigned in regi 2 to U2 it will not translate if the expression pedal is closed when moving from regi 1 to 2. If it's open when moving from regi to regi it will translate. Another workaround, When using a layer and wanting to control the mix of U2 under U1 then assign it to a knob. In my case knob 3. Use the expression to control overall volume on all parts regi to regi.
  2. Before I begin.....I have been playing synths and keyboards since I was a teen. My first synth was the Yamaha DX 21. I'm 52 now and I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Casio starting with the XWP1, then the PX5S and then the CGP 700. I still play all of them and still have a blast doing it. Now I have the Casiotone 1000 V and am learning the ins and outs. I love it....it's a great little board! Thanks Casio!! Here's the scenario: Bank 1 / Registration 1 Piano U1 Strings U2 Bass L I have assigned my zoom expression pedal to bring the volume of the strings in and out. Bank 2 / Registration 2 Organ U1 I have assigned my zoom expression pedal to bring the volume of the Organ in and out. If before moving from registration 1 to 2, I have closed the expression pedal so that the strings no longer sound and then move to the organ on registration 2 I no longer have any volume control via the expression pedal and the organ volume is at 0. Workaround - If I save the organ on registration 2 to U2, using the balance control to turn the volume down altogether on U1 the expression pedal works moving from regi to regi. Limitation or glitch?
  3. Hello everyone, first time posting here for me: I own both an XWP1 and PX5S and am going to use them in tandem for a piece I have put together for Good Friday so I thought I would share how I am using both keyboards in conjunction with one another. PX5S: Concert Grand XWP1: 👉Performance mode Zone 1 drawbar organ - volume knob 1 Zone 2 voice ensemble - volume knob 2 Zone 3 strings ensemble - volume knob 3 Zone 4 Harp - volume knob 4 - connected to arpeggiator 👉Step Sequencer 6/8 Drum 1 - I have tweaked a few parts to match the feel of the song but mostly using to keep time as the piece is of a slow tempo. I have recorded the base of the piece (about a 3 minute loop) with the phrase sequencer and all four zones, creating a warm somber synth feel. Because I have all four voices connected to knobs 1-4 I can control each of the volumes within the piece in real time. I start with Zones 2 and 3 then add in Zone 1 (drawbar organ) also having control over the rotory button which makes for great texture. The big reveal is when I turn on the arpeggiator and then turn up knob 4 to bring in the harp. I have this sync'd with the step sequencer so that the timing is automatic. This adds yet another great layer to the piece. I am running the XWP1 into the PX5s and assigning an additional overall external volume control to one of the sliders then simply using the Concert Grand tone on the PX5S to play along to the phrase I have constructed. It is the most ambitious I have been yet in using the two keyboards together and it is a blast! OH - I'm going to attempt to fade the 6/8 shaker out by assigning it to one of the 8 parts and have each step velocity fade. It's the only way I can think of to create a fade. Any thoughts?
