Not sure what the purpose of a XLR to stereo plug would even be, but anyway, stereo plugs are fine for mono inputs- the channels just get summed into one.

There are class compliant audio devices too though- I have a TC Helicon Voice Live Touch that is plug and play, even works with the iPad.

Disagree that it is "perfectly fine" with out the update, at least the G1, which would not properly sync to external MIDI clock. But a bricked keyboard is WAY worse....

You probably already know this, but don't expect the Blofeld to be completely bug free. It's an amazing, deep, versatile synth, and a great value, but definitely has some quirks. But by all means, get one! It fits nicely on the XW's rubber pad, too.

Go to settings, scroll down till you see MIDI, hit enter, change it.

Have you tried a reset? Couldn't hurt. You don't have anything plugged in to the MIDI IN by any chance...?

Yes, they are all running simultaneously in my example- 2 synths are playing, and being recorded by another app, at the same time, in real time.I don't know anything about Onsong, but is the sound from GB cutting off when you switch to another app? If so, make sure "play in background" is turned on in GB.

Of course you can run multiple apps at the same time- am I misunderstanding what you meant? My experiences are somewhat limited by only having an iPad 2, but I can open Audiobus, load Drum Jam and Animoog, and record both instruments into Multitrack Daw. That's 4 apps running at the same time.

I don't think you are saying it correct- the keyboard itself has no aftertouch.

Solo synth is always on channel one. The sequencer normally only sends to channels 8-16. They give you the option to send channel 14 to channel 1. Who knows why they decided to design it that way? Just try to ignore the absurdity of that, and set the option. Then everything on channel 14 of the sequencer will be sent to the solo synth.

You can also just record it into the step sequencer, without the phrase sequencer at all...

Possibly this Joe person deleted all their posts which is why we can't even see them? I dunno...... Mike's videos are must see, I watched them several times while deciding to buy my XW, and was just thinking about revisiting a couple of them.

Apologies for referencing the G1 manual- just realized that the page numbers probably don't correspond to the P1 manual. I can see how that would cause some confusion!

It's very confusing to keep referring to "hex" and the G1. There is no such thing on the G1. Joe, there really is a description of the display in the manual. It's not the most helpful thing in the world, but at least it does explain what the graphics represent.

Instead of typing out all the instructions, I'll direct your attention to page E-84 of the ever useful manual. Also see E-81 for the start up setting. Sorry, just realized quoting page numbers from the G1 manual is probably not that helpful if you are looking at the P1 one. It is in there though...

In performance mode, the display is showing the different zones assigned across the keyboard, which one has the arpeggiator assigned, etc. Check out page E71 of the manual.

On the other hand, I've updated my Blofeld myself 4 times I think, and am on the mailing list and don't recall anyone ever bricking the thing. Korg M3 same deal. Every other piece of gear, same. The policies of fixing it are less interesting than whether or not they can write an updater that is safe of not. At least one person on this thread or at FB didn't even have antivirus on, and the update still bricked their XW. That's lame software, not lame corporate policies.

Is there any evidence of Casio saying they will charge to repair this under warranty? I'm more concerned about the many people who bought used ones from eBay and bricked them due to Casio's really stupid updater.

This update fixed a major bug for me (sloppy sync with external MIDI) that was really impeding my use of the XW. I'm kind of glad I updated as soon as I could, because I'd torn if I'd waited and seen all these reports of bricked synths. BTW, I have the G1- are all the problems that people have reported here and on FB only with the P1?

2 different things, no? You can simply play audio through it, or audio in can be one of the 6 possible sources of the Solo Synth....

Agree about the capabilities of the Solo Synth. I have other VA synths, all are different and have their strengths, but the XW really does bring something special.

Hmmm, have a PodX3 just sitting there within a cable's reach of my XW.......
