  1. They would have to write it from scratch I'd think- are there any Windows programs that allow you to layout a screen full of MIDI controls? There are at least 5 on the iPad, and casio was able to pick one and customize it relatively easily (not to discount the work that went into this). I think it would be a large undertaking to make a free, touch sensitive controller for a relatively small number of users. Also, there is already a great cross platform editor available....
  2. HIGHLY recommend buying an official Apple CCK (if that is what you need for your model iPad). It's pricey, but the cheap knockoffs on Amazon have a really bad reputation..
  3. Yep, that fixed it- well done Casio!!
  4. Hey, this isn't P1 specific! Us G1 owners can void our warranties too ya know....
  5. Mike said on the FB page that it improves sync with external MIDI- which is the main bug I've experienced. Can't wait to see if my issues are fixed.
  6. I've had my FCB1010 for probably a decade, it's awesome. No problems with the pedals, but don't use them that much compared to the switches. There are a couple free editors for PC (and I think for Mac, but not positive). Programming it from the front panel is not out of the question, the manual has all the necessary information. Anyone who can make any sense out the XW could handle it! I have the UNO chip upgrade, a must have IMO....
  7. That would be most excellent. Not holding my breath tho....
  8. With a MIDI foot pedal you could, but guess that's not what you were asking....
  9. What Alan said- lots of built in demos kind of cheat. I wouldn't go crazy trying to recreate them yourself, cause it may well be impossible.
  10. That touches on one of the most confusing aspects of the XW- the different modes (perform, tone, step seq) and the ways they do and do not persist when you change to another one.
  11. Part 2 came after Part 2 1/2- that's a sequencing problem right there! Sorry, don't have an answer for you- I've had plenty of "WTF ?! " moments myself in the couple of weeks I've owned the XW...
  12. You don't need to bounce between forums. If you click on "XW Series", it shows you the 5 XW sub forums in one glance, with the latest post in each, the time it was posted, and who posted it. Which, at least in the couple of weeks I've been lurking here, is less than a half dozen posts a day, and usually much less. I can see how your wished for feature might be easier, then again, the way I do it takes literally a few seconds....
  13. I only come to the XW sections- I never even see any of these other posts in the first place. I see what you are saying, but why even visit those other sections? The 5 XW sub forums have a low enough volume that it is easy to see if anything new has been posted.
  14. The limited DSP would not be as bad if there were more physical outputs on the synth- using outboard fx isn't that helpful when everything still comes out mixed together from the LR outputs. But, it is what it is....
  15. - almost all my other gear lets you specify how to handle subsequent key presses and retriggering for a monophonic part. As in, you can choose to keep the highest note, lowest note, last note played. The XW only keeps the last note played, which is disappointing, especially given that you may well be playing polyphonic sounds on the keyboard at the same time as the monophonic synth. For an instrument that has a monophonic "solo synth" as one of its main futures, this seems a big omission.
  16. New XW-G1 owner with almost the same thing happening. Not all sequences do it, and they are transposed by different amounts. Trying to nail it down to figure out what is going on. Similar weirdness syncing the tempo to my Korg M3. Some sequences lock tight to the beats from the M3- I can leave the room and come back, and they are still in sync. But other sequences drift within a couple dozen bars. I'm pretty experienced with synths and workstations, but I gotta say, these XWs are head scratchers!
