  1. Version Version 1

    465 downloads

Another quick one, which could use some additional tweaking but here it goes. The attached Phrase needs to be loaded in location 700 for the drum pattern to work. Low A on the keyboard starts the drum pattern. C an octave from the top starts the arpeggio pattern. Rhodes in the middle.
  2. 415 downloads

A quick attempt to do The Who's "Baba O'Riley". F, an octave above Middle C is the main pattern with "delayed" and trilled notes above. Piano in the bottom 5 octaves. Thanks to Brad Saucier for his input. You'll have to turn the Arpeggio Hold on and leave the pattern running when you go to play the piano.
  3. I would not recommend using the compressor. In a Hex Layer tone, there is a main volume for all six layers on the first editing page. Set the volumes of each of the layers near their maximum (where the relative volumes make sense) then lower the main volume until the distortion is gone.
  4. Use existing Stage Settings. Set the PX-100 to transmit on MIDI channel 2, 3 or 4. Turn that zone (2, 3 or 4) OFF on the PX-5S. The selected sound on that zone will respond from MIDI but won't be played from the PX-5S keyboard.
  5. Everyone, I certainly appreciate your enthusiasm for the XW-P1 and XW-G1 which I obviously share. I can tell you with confidence that the XW-P1 and XW-G1 are not getting replaced in the immediate future and as I mentioned before, we (Casio America) have many things in planned for these models. As for Casio UK, I am not going to speculate and I've already told you everything I know. The only other thing I can say is that there have been situations where this situation has been reversed - there have been models which Casio America chose not to import but these were available in other parts of the world.
  6. To set the record straight...As mentioned I can only speak for Casio America but we are certainly not discontinuing the XW-series. In my discussions with Japan, Australia, Germany, Canada, Mexico and others they are still carrying the XW-series. For whatever reason, Casio UK appears to be sold out of XWs. Personally we are still investing in the XW-series. That means more sound libraries, updates to the iPad app and support like live clinics. The XW-series is not going anywhere any time soon.
  7. Scott, Can you confirm that the CASIO USB device is showing up in the Device manager? Please double check your MIDI Settings on the XW. In the Settings / MIDI menu, make sure USBOutSel is set to KEY. Are any other MIDI applications running?
  8. Here is an example of one: https://soundcloud.com/casiomusicgear/rachaels-ballad
  9. Actually not correct. The XW-P1 does have a better piano sound than the XW-G1.
  10. If you're on the Arpeggio screen (Hold the Arpeggio button for about 2 seconds to select it) you can choose a pattern. Then if you press and hold the BANK button (on the right side of the keyboard) it will choose a tone that works well with that type of arpeggio.
  11. Paragone, I saw your comment on the Youtube video and replied there. The PX-5S was not using a multi-chorus effect in this video. No chorus was used at all. The PX-5S has entirely different processor than the XW-series. This and the quality of the filters really contribute to this sound. At one point in the video a phaser effect is used too. My recommendation - Take the HexLayer Preset 0-0 XW PolySynth and edit it. For each of the 6 layers adjust the panning of them in pairs like this: Layer 1 Pan -20 Layer 2 Pan +20 Layer 3 Pan -40 Layer 4 Pan +40 Layer 5 Pan -64 Layer 6 Pan +64 This will give you a much thicker and larger sound. While playing check out knob2 for detune.
  12. The downloads FORUM area was added so people could discuss the specific sound that was posted. This part of the forum didn't exist when some of the earlier sounds were posted and it is not retroactive for either the PX-5S or XW sections.

A request from the Facebook users group to mimic a demo of a competitive product. Narrow velocity range, heavily cut low-mid EQ and more reverb.

A variation on the factory preset, useful for playing Toto's Africa. A Hex Layer for XW-P1
  15. File Name: African Layer2 File Submitter: Mike Martin File Submitted: 28 Jan 2014 File Category: XW-P1 A variation on the factory preset, useful for playing Toto's Africa. A Hex Layer for XW-P1 Click here to download this file
  16. The Upright Basses and 3 Fingered basses on the PX-5S are all new have never appeared in any previous Casio instrument. These are the first 6 presets in the bass category at not the ones represented in the audio demos above. This are quite good in my opinion. I'm sorry though I won't be near a PX-5S today to do an audio demo.
  17. Sleep is overrated. ;-)That is exactly right. Music retailers have difficulty with the XW series and understanding what it is. That is the danger of doing something so different than most synths and workstations on the market. Some retailers that "get it" have done well with the XW series some have not because it's not a cookie cutter product. As I said repeatedly at NAMM and elsewhere, anyone one thing the XW series does is worth it's price (Solo Synth, drawbar, step sequencer, controller....etc) Two big new XW users from the show- Larry Dunn and BT!!!!
  18. Impressive store! Where is it? Sorry to hear about your health. Get better!!
  19. Jokeyman, Next time you come to the Casio office, send me a PM before or have them call me when you get there.
  20. Can you post the Stage Setting in question here? Are you certain you don't have a second target assigned to those same sliders?
  21. Gmul, Thanks for your comments. Since you're on The Keyboard Corner, perhaps you could share your thoughts over there too.
  22. Currently there is not a way other than to hook one of the Casio products up to a different MIDI interface. This would require a firmware update to be addressed.
  23. Turn high resolution MIDI off in the system settings of the PX-5S. It's possible that what ever you're using for the accordion on your MUse has a tuning parameter set to CC88
  24. Contact Casio support directly, maybe they can find someone else: http://www.casio.com/support/contactus/phonenumbers/
